Publisher's summary

When a mystery writer cries bloody murder, everyone blames her overactive imagination.

Thriller scribe Sophie Katz is as hard-boiled as a woman who drinks Grande Caramel Brownie Frappuccionos can be; maybe it's from a lifetime of fielding dumb comments about her half-black, half-Jewish ethnicity. ("My sister's married to a Polynesian! I just love your culture!") So Sophie knows it's not paranoia, or post-divorce, living-alone-again jitters, when she becomes convinced that a crazed reader is sneaking into her apartment to reenact scenes from her books. The police, however, can't tell a good plot from an unmarked grave.

When a filmmaker friend is brutally murdered in the manner of a death scene in one of his movies, Sophie becomes convinced that a copycat killer is on the loose...and that she's the next target. If she doesn't solve the mystery, her own best seller will spell out her doom. Cursing her grisly ending (why, oh, why did she have to pick the axe?), Sophie engages in some real-life gumshoe tactics.

The man who swoops in to save her in dark alleys at night is mysterious new love interest Anatoly Darinsky. Of course, if this were fiction, Anatoly would be her prime suspect.

Solve another case with Sophie.

Absolutely fabulous!

If you like Janet Evanovich then you will love Kyra Davis! I am a big Stephanie Plum series fan and I was beginning to think that I would not find another author that could make me laugh out loud like Evanovich. However, Finally I have... I've just began with the Sophie Katz series but I can't wait to delve into all of the Kyra's books. The narrator makes all the difference and I think that Gabra Zackman did an excellent job! Wonderful to listen to while cleaning, doing chores or taking a drive!

FUN! FUN! FUN! ...and a good mystery, too!

I really enjoyed this listen. The story is full of humor and also contains a good mystery. I often figure out the ending of a mystery, but I was kept guessing until the end. The characters are so interesting and likeable that I am looking forward to getting to know them even better in the sequel. I started the sequel immediately after finishing this one. To answer some of the other reviewers, you do find out if she gets the guy in the sequel. I liked this listen so much that I have now purchased every other Kyra Davis audiobook that is available on Audible.com. By the way, I also thought the narrator did a great job, and I do not understand the negative comments by some reviewers.

Super Fun!

This book is light, quick, fun, witty, and has tons of catty sarcasm. If that sounds like your cup of tea, then I highly recommend this book. I meant for it to be my commuter book, but I found myself listening when I prepared dinner, walked the dogs, and worked in the garden. It was such a fun and funny distraction!

Funny group of characters!

Sophie is a wonderful character and her group of friends are just the most fun! I highly recommend it for a nice, casual listen. Couldn't wait to get in my car to go to work for a nice enjoyable drive.

Funny & Twisted

I loved most of the story and all of the characters. I chose to listen to it because it seemed like a light fun mystery, and it was for the most part. There is one plot twist that really bothered me. I found it off-putting and cheap. It's interesting that the characters also acknowledge this point after the fact but it still didn't make up for how distasteful I found that point. I still really enjoyed it. It was funny and sweet.

Entertaining

This is an entertaining book, But, the story was perdictable. I enjoy other books by Kyra Davis much more than this one.

Good story, poor reader

OK story, murder mystery. I did not like the reader. Not enough different voices to fit the characters.

Gabra Zackman fans

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I have purchased at least 6 or more books based on this first read. Unfortunately, I buy more than I can listen.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Sex, Murder, and a Double Latte?

when our heroine meets our hero.

Which scene was your favorite?

I have purchased as I love male voice of Gabra Zackman.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes, I did. I bought more base on outline, but have yet to listen. Get the Las Vegas story as our hero has his story.
