Desperate to save her sister's life, Sidonie Forsythe has agreed to submit herself to a terrible fate: Beyond the foreboding walls of Castle Craven, a notorious, hideously scarred scoundrel will take her virtue over the course of seven sinful nights. Yet instead of a monster, she encounters a man like no other. And during this week, she comes to care for Jonas Merrick in ways that defy all logic - even as a dark secret she carries threatens them both.
Ruthless loner Jonas knows exactly who he is. Should he forget, even for a moment, the curse he bears, a mere glance in the mirror serves as an agonizing reminder. So when the lovely Sidonie turns up on his doorstep, her seduction is an even more delicious prospect than he originally planned. But the hardened outcast is soon moved by her innocent beauty, sharp wit, and surprising courage. Now as dangerous enemies gather at the gate to destroy them, can their new, fragile love survive?

I don't want to live in a world without books!
I usually like Antony Ferguson's narration, but this was a fail for me. The pauses. Between. Every. Phrase. Drove. Me. Mad. It was so distracting that I found myself more focused on the cadence of his delivery than I was on the story. By the end of the book, I couldn't say if I enjoyed the story or not -- his voice took it to melodramatic extremes that frustrated any possible enjoyment. I'm very disappointed.
I will not re-listen to this one and it's a shame. I think there was a good book in there, but I didn't get to hear it.
I love being swept away by a new romance and thankfully Audible's ever growing Library means I get to indulge myself over and over again
It drew me in right from the start - Jonas is a scarred, tormented and tortured rogue who gets more than he had bargained for when Sidonie agrees to give up her virginity and spend 7 nights with him. He soon realises 7 nights are not enough but he needs to seduce her in order to win her heart forever.
Good story with secrets that shouldn't be kept and it has suspense with another sub plot too, two leading characters that you can't help but empathise with and it has you routing for them both and their doomed relationship.
Worth a credit? Yes, and I haven't listened to any of Anna Campbell's other books but I would definitely give them a try too.
I did not enjoy listening to this book. First of all, I didn't care for the narrator, Antony Ferguson, whose reading style was so slow, and so full of long pauses, that I listened to most of the book with the speed at 1.25. Second, the first 50%+ of the book seemed to be nothing but long, detailed sex scenes between Jonas and Sidonie. I like steamy, but Sidonie's journey from innocent virgin to hot mamma went by in a flash, and I can easily do without so much description of their every move. I actually liked the last third or so of the book, when things begin to happen, but by then those things felt a little rushed.
Jonas was a fascinating character, scarred both inside and out, and the story of his redemption was very interesting. Unfortunately, that story didn't save the book for me, especially since Sidonie did some pretty dumb stuff along the way. All in all, I understood the lust but never quite bought into the love.
ABSOLUTELY, Love the narrator, the great story and wit... totally enjoyed it
Every BOOK I can, Antony is one of my favorites... just love him reading historical romances to me! Compares to be as great as always, he was born to read these!
THIS BEAST IS MORE THAN SKIN DEEP
There is only this one book of the series available on audio... totally want the others as well as more Anna Campbell, and hopefully Antony reads them.
So many books...so little time! :)
Good story overall. It is pretty intense all the way through! And Anthony Ferguson does a pretty good job. I wasn't sure about the narration at first, but he really grows on you after a while.
I am a singer and Celtic harper specializing in the music of Scotland, where I go often to study and perform. I love romance books because I like a light hearted story with a happy ending!
This is a ridiculous book! The "heroine" is an annoying dishrag. If I had a nickel for every time I couldn't refrain from screaming "You're an IDIOT" at this woman, it would pay to replace the credit I wasted on this book! The narrator is good but he, too, is wasted on this book.
