Second book in a series - very enjoyable

The first book of the series is In Bed with a Highlander. It was about the brother Ewan, Laird of the McCabe clan. This second book is about Ewan's brother Alaric. Ewan was supposed to marry Rionna McDonald in order to create a great alliance of the several clans. However Ewan married Mairin instead. Then Alaric had to step up to the plate and he agreed to marry Rionna instead. On his way to see Riona, Alaric was wounded in an ambush. He managed to escape and his horse took him to the cottage of a healer named Keeley. She saved his life and they became very attracted to one another. Keeley had been cast out of the McDonald clan on bogus charges and was living alone without protection. She ended up at the McCabe clan's castle as the healer. She and Alaric are so in love, but he must marry Rionna or the entire clan will suffer. That is the set up to the story which is pretty good. There is a resolution to the main plot line of Alaric and Keeley, but there are still issues that are not resolved - mainly the issue of the evil Cameron who has been the enemy of the McCabe clan for years. Hopefully that issue will be resolved in the third book, which features the third McCabe brother.

This book has some humor and some gut wrenching situations. I got very emotional at one point. I definitely was invested in the book and did not want to stop until there was a resolution.

It has everything a romance groupie needs.

Brilliant listen - it had strong characters that were entwined in a passionate and emotional story. However, have your tissues ready because it was heartbreaking too. I thought this was better than the first and I'm happily off to listen to Book 3 but I'm sure they are all exceptional. Give us more more more.

The love connection Alaric and Kaleeye share is wonderful. I laugh, cried, and had mix feelings when listening to this book. I loved the BDSM scene between Alaric and Kaleeye..

The narration is great I felt like I was there witnessing everything.

Not to give anything away, but I was so invested in the characters; I cared about them. This is a testament to the author's storytelling abilities.

it was better than the 1st book in the trilogy. forbidden loves always get me. I did not find it predictable with exception of the last McCabe brother being the last option for the clans to unite.

You know I wasn't sure what to expect but this was a very good story. Good to see a hero show his vulnerability. Reasd it. You'll like it.

Forbidden lovers highland romance

I enjoyed this book a lot and I was on the edge of my seat to figure out how they were going to make it work. What I didn’t love was the fact that Aleric was promised to another very nice lady and that didn’t seem to stop either party in messing around and falling in love. Because it was a political arrangement, there was this sense of doom throughout most of the book. I really enjoyed the action of the first book and that was lacking a bit here too as the characters spent most of their time in bed (either sick or boinking 😉). Speaking of heat, DAMN this book was HOT! Hotter than #1 with some interesting binding play that I was really not expecting but it worked! Anyway, this forbidden lovers books will give you all the angsty feels you want just know that there is poor Rionna that just seems to get the short end of the stick. I’m interested to read her book next!

I loved this audiobook

This has been my favorite romance audiobook I've heard yet out of about 20 that I've tried. I think I've already listened to it 3 times. It's such a sweet steamy and sad story. There is no inferiorating angst and no constant fighting they actually love each other I wish I could come across another one like this but I have yet to find it.

wonderful story ! I listen to the first book and it was good but this one makes you laugh and cry! Great story and I enjoyed the reader.
