Publisher's summary

The second Perfect Gentlemen novel from the New York Times best-selling authors of the Masters of Ménage series. Privileged, wealthy, and wild: They are the Perfect Gentlemen of Creighton Academy. But the threat of a scandal has one of them employing his most deceptive - and seductive - talents...

Recruited into the CIA at a young age, Connor Sparks knows how dirty the world can be. Only when he’s with his friends can he find some peace. So when an anonymous journalist threatens one of the Perfect Gentlemen, Connor vows to take down the person behind the computer, by whatever means necessary - even if it means posing as his target’s bodyguard. Publishing a tabloid revealing Washington’s most subversive scandals has earned Lara Armstrong the ire of the political scene - and a slew of death threats.

To keep herself from ending up a headline, Lara hires a bodyguard, a man as handsome as he is lethal. When the bullets start to fly, Lara is surprised to find herself in Connor’s arms. But as they begin to unravel a mystery that just might bring down the White House, Lara is devastated when she discovers Connor’s true identity - and finds herself at the mercy of forces who will stop at nothing to advance their deadly agenda.

Great mystery/suspense plus a sexy romance!

STORY (erotica) - The Perfect Gentlemen series has been my introduction to the genre of erotica, and I checked it out more for curiosity's sake than anything else. Yes, it's erotic, but what I like best about this series is the story that runs behind the romances. The PGs are all highly successful men in Washington, including United States President Zack Hayes. There are mysterious deaths, threats, etc., which all seem to revolve around Zack and an elusive Russian woman who served as his childhood nanny.

The romance in this book involves Connor, a lethal CIA agent who lives in the shadows and does the nation's dirty work to keep us all safe. And then there's Lara, who drove me crazy. She is a Bohemian goody-goody who runs a website called Capitol Scandals in Washington. If there had been a different female lead in this story, I would have rated it five stars like I did Book 1. (Seriously, trying to make her dog a vegetarian?????) At any rate, their relationship is a case of opposites attracting, then repelling, then attracting again. And of course, Connor ignites Lara into a vixen in the bedroom. Every time something dangerous happens they get turned on. Whatever.

PERFORMANCE - The dreamy voice of Kaleo Griffith makes the sheet scenes even hotter! Love him!

OVERALL - Recommended for women who enjoy romances but are not easily offended by lots of explicit sex and sexual language. I would say there's probably at least an hour of this 14-hour book that's spent in the sack. The story stands alone as far as the romance, but the mystery continues from Book 1, runs through this book, and will continue into at least Book 3. I recommend starting with Book 1 -- and you will love it. (No whiny stupid Lara, for one thing).

Lara Ruined It.

Normally I can get past a naïve, sort of stupid heroine. This girl, however, makes me absolutely crazy. She is so naïve about life and how politics work, especially for someone who theoretically has a POLI SCI DEGREE and her father is a senator. Most of her dialogue leaves me wanting to scream "ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!" Then she has the gall to get offended when people don't take her site seriously after she prints crap like articles about the size of the president's junk? The website is literally called 'Capital Scandals". No one serious about politics is going to take that seriously. She also bases her theories on unsubstantiated facts from strange sources. When she even knows who her source is, she freely admits that it's people like estranged wives, tossed away mistresses, and bitter staff. How are those reliable sources for anything other than gossip?

I also can't stand the way she judges people who are not vegan and even makes her dog go on a vegan diet and then wonders why he's so upset all the time, only to calm down after finally being given meat. Dogs are carnivores. It's not optional. I'm as liberal as they come, but this bitch is verging on crazy hippie.

Basically, she is the definition of a spoiled, naïve, rich white girl who thinks she can get people to pay attention to her by stirring the pot but not really understanding the nuances of life.

I'm not the biggest fan of Connor either, but he's nothing compared to Lara. He seems to just brood and sort of feel sorry for himself. This story could have been so much better if the heroine wasn't as annoying. The first book was great, and I'm hoping the rest are more like that one.

Narrator, on the other hand, was amazing. Kaleo Griffith could read me the phonebook and I'd be happy.

HE EXPECTED TO SEDUCE... BUT THE TABLES GOT TURNED

Well the sinister plot thickens as The Perfect Gentlemen continue to delve into the mysterious death of Maddox, who was one of their own, and this time it's the CIA Operative Connor who's at the center of the action. He's drop dead gorgeous, sexy and buff but he's spent his adult life undercover on deadly missions that called for lying, cheating and yes killing so how hard can one little job be?..... get closer to the woman writing the tabloid website Capitol Scandals and shut it and her down. But this hardened Agent wasn't prepared to have his heart melted, his world shaken and his life taken down by one tiny fairy like Princess called Lara.

Lara is all about justice, the truth, kindness, helping others and uncovering, publicising then righting wrongs especially when they're done by the President..... and little does she know but word has leaked out that this is currently what she's working on. Lara starts an online chat to a guy she thinks is her perfect soulmate - a Vegan like herself and who holds all the same values as she does and she confides in him that she's received death threats so he insists on sending her a Bodyguard which she thinks is silly, unnecessary and just plain stupid.... that is until the bullets starts to fly.

A really good romance wrapped around mystery, suspense, thrills and chills as the uncovered clues bring them deeper into the Russian Mob's world of intrigue, assassinations and one revelation after another leads to a jaw-dropping plan.... and a list of dead people's names. Lara and Connor are immediately drawn to one another and, when their sizzling chemistry ignites there's heartfelt passion and sex but it's a relationship built on lies, manipulation and deception. Connor was undercover so it just had to be that way.... however did he like it? No, was he going to come clean? Yes, but did he leave it too late? err that's a big fat Yes, did the shit hit the fan? ditto and could there ever be a HEA for Connor? find out.

Action packed, a secondary plot involving two of Lara's friends, all of the Perfect Gentlemen were closely involved, good character growth as two opposites learn to adapt and bend and a Hero, who had spent his life in the shadows and now tasted sunshine for the very first time. Warning for any of you who aren't into the 'instant' thing.... their relationship goes from 0 to 1000 in the blink of an eye (and then keeps doubling) now I'm never bothered about that, it happens in the best of movies and I'd rather that than hours and hours of dribble. Dual POV's and I had no problem with the narration.

Worth a credit? Yes, the romance, although based on lies, was real, tender and sweet, the drama was intense at times and the plot continues as another member of TPG rides off into the sunset to uncover more clues into the now very urgent, very deadly and very life-threatening Terrorist's plan.

OMG!! This book is so good, it does NOT disappoint

I am LOVING this series, it has the perfect level of suspense, mystery and romance. Surprisingly, the heroine in this book did not get on my last nerves, yes she was naïve as hell, but she was not unreasonable. I like how the characters are developed and how they all make appearances between books. I could not stop listening, and a large portion of that is due to the narrator. I tip my hat to you Kaleo Griffith, he did an amazing job! His voice is absolutely sexy, I think I am going to put him right up there with Aiden Snow, and that's saying something. All in all, if you want romance, mystery and suspense with Alpha males, and women who desperately need saving then this is the book for you. It is TOTALLY worth the credit!!!
Thanks Shayla and Lexi!

And the mystery continues . . .

Any additional comments?

Loved this one as much as the first one. A point in its favor is that the personalities of the lead couple are different from the couple in the first book. This is no rubber stamp. You get answers to some questions from the series plot thread from book one and the thread continues. I was glad I had an extra credit so I could start book three as soon as I finished this one.

Kaleo Griffith did a good job narrating. Gives you enough vocal inflection to make the book interesting, but doesn't over-dramatize.

Connor the Selfish Control Freak

After enjoying the 1st book in the Perfect Gentlemen series, Seduction in Session (book 2), was a huge disappointment and more than a little creepy. The plot didn't make sense plus the "romantic relationship" was demeaning and disgusting.

CIA agent Connor (late 30s) was not a gentleman or perfect by any stretch of the imagination. He was rude, crude and selfish, with low self-esteem which he masked by humiliating Laura. Connor called her "princess" and "little girl" with absolute contempt, having fantasies of restraining and beating the naïve, inexperienced young woman.

Laura (26) was incredibly immature for an educated journalist living in Washington DC. She was an idealistic and slightly annoying doormat with good heart. When she agreed to allow Connor total control of her body, mind and soul, I really wanted to throw up. The sex scenes were cold and calculating, with Connor treating her like a sex slave - so not romantic.

Laura was incredibly boring with no confidence or self-respect; Connor was a sexual predator who degraded Laura without remorse. I didn't understand why Laura thought she deserved to be treated like a circus animal, forced to perform on command or whipped into submission. I wasn't surprised that a former lover stabbed Connor...

I did not find this book sexy, erotic or entertaining; Connor acted like a sociopath (no morals or scruples with a violent streak) and Laura was too pathetic for words! The authors tried hard to romanticize their unhealthy, abusive relationship with a HEA but I could only imagine Connor getting tired of Laura and pimping her out to his friends.

This is the 2nd book in the series I have listened too. The author keeps you on your toes guessing who did it…. but you never find out. On too book 3 in the series to see if anymore hints are discovered.
