Publisher's summary

Neggers (The Whisper) spins a tale of stolen jewels, long-lost love, and other secrets in this engaging contemporary romance. Olivia Frost has returned to Knights Bridge, Mass., to turn a historic home into a getaway destination. A neighboring house is in disarray, so Olivia writes to the owner, Dylan McCaffrey, asking him to clean it up. Dylan has no idea his late father left him the property until he gets Olivia’s note. Curious, he travels to Knights Bridge, where he and Olivia hit it off.

Soon they are digging into the past, trying to find out why Dylan’s father bought the house and what secrets its previous owner might have had. Lovely descriptions of the countryside add plenty of New England charm, but the romance between Olivia and Dylan is overshadowed by the more interesting flashbacks, secrets, and experiences of a secondary character.

Feminist Grade:A

This is one of the few romance novels that I've read that had the fewest problematic things! Love, love, love this book!!!

Nice romance-lite/mystery-lite.

I listened to this while I packed my house up for a move and cleaned my carpets. It was a nice, relaxing listen for boring chores like those.

This is a nice romance-lite with a fun mystery. Olivia relocates from Boston to her very small hometown and starts up a new business from scratch. There is a ton of mystery and intrigue with regard to Olivia's next door neighbor and his run-down, seemingly abandoned property. Things begin to very slowly make sense once Dylan shows up to take care of his property. The story doesn't focus only on the romantic relationship between Olivia and Dylan; there are several relationships that are introduced and developed here-mostly family. There is no angst or big drama-just very easy listening. The setting is a real place, and bits and pieces of this story reflect the true history of that area, which make this story even more fun and fascinating.

I'm excited that the next book features Noah, as he was one of the more interesting secondary characters!

love this author!

Carla Neggers is one of the most awesome authors ! it's been a priviledge to read her books. She is not self serving or egotistical . She writes from her heart and actually lived near and experienced the flooding of 4 small towns to provide drinking water for Boston. this series has the perfect mix of romance and mystery. ...a very cozy read😊

A story that pulls you in

I absolutely love this series and this is my second time listening to it. The writer does such a great job of moving the story along without being too detailed but yet just enough to pull you in and make you feel like you are in the small town of Knightsbridge and experiencing the life of all these wonderful characters.

This story is packed with life experience.

An 80 odd years secret, kept hidden from a small town community.
An inheritance that was not known about, until another asks to have a yard cleaned up.
A woman who is disillusioned with her job and colleagues, takes a step to start up a dream job.
A family concerned with the mentally stressed mother, overcompensating to keep her from stressing, learn that the mother is able to learn to let them go, and all still would be okay.
There's more in this great story, but your best to read the book or or listen to the audiobook. I feel cèrtain, you will find it an entertaining experience.

Loved these characters

I enjoyed this story. The secrets were slowly revealed and the relationship slowly developed. But the story didn't seem slow at all. Quite a joy to listen to.
