Four young ladies enter London society with one common goal: they must use their feminine wit and wiles to find a husband. So a daring husband-hunting scheme is born.
Annabelle Peyton, determined to save her family from disaster, decides to use her beauty and wit to tempt a suitable nobleman into making an offer of marriage. But Annabelle’s most intriguing — and persistent — admirer, wealthy, powerful Simon Hunt, has made it clear that while he will introduce her to irresistible pleasure, he will not offer marriage. Annabelle is determined to resist his unthinkable proposition…but it is impossible in the face of such skillful seduction.
Her friends, looking to help, conspire to entice a more suitable gentleman to offer for Annabelle, for only then will she be safe from Simon — and her own longings. But on one summer night, Annabelle succumbs to Simon’s passionate embrace and tempting kisses…and she discovers that love is the most dangerous game of all.

"By turns amusing, sensual and sober, but always compelling, this is a first-rate offering from a truly talented storyteller." (Publishers Weekly)

This book is a delightful start to the series. This book is romantic, funny, and a great story. Simon and Annabelle had a lot of chemistry which makes a perfect romance. Narration was perfect! Highly recommend this one!!
She is the best reader ever! RL + LK = automatic download.
When Mr. Hunt considered compromising Anabel again in the same night just for "Insurance" purposes. It was funny and romantic at the same time.
The Wallflowers series is awesome! And once you've finished you have to read The Hathaways . A must read/listen.
The way in which is was performed was excellent. The story was perhaps a bit drawn out.
First time with this author
The way in which her voice portrayed the various characters was extremely well done
I like the way that the story built to a climax. The scene in the music room where Annabelle and Simon have to quietly wait while the musicians practice. The sexual tension and the anticipation is amazing
As a male, I don't usually read or listen to this kind of story. I must say it was very well written and the whole thing was very tastefully written.
Yes! As an avid romance reader the story has everything, in my opinion, to make a book enjoyable. It keeps ones interest, and if possible I would like to have listened to it all at once, but it's too long.
There were many, and I don't want to give anything away, but toward the end when Simon's wife tries to save his life, the author and narrator conveyed the emotions well.
There were several.
It's one I will listen to again.
I had already marked this as a book in my wish list, but when it came up on sale, I went ahead and purchased it. The wit and humor between the Wallflowers made the book enjoyable just to follow the women's friendship. The chemistry between Annabelle & Simon and their love/hate relationship was just an added bonus. The narrator is wonderful, but I've always enjoyed her and I think she does a wonderful job. This story was so fun and romantic and was not just about the love between a man and a woman, but the friendship that was developed between four women. As soon as I finished listening, I looked to see if the story continued and was pleased to see that the story of the remaining Wallflowers are available, and I immediately downloaded the second book. What a delightful series! I'm glad I stumbled upon this book or I would have missed out on a wonderful collection of laughter and love wrapped up in one book!
I am not normally a great fan of historical romance but Lisa Kleypas has won me over! She is a masterful storyteller and draws you into a world so vivid you can see it clearly in your mind's eye. This is the start of a great series with interesting characters and plenty of quick wit. Coupled with Rosalyn Landor's outstanding narration, this is the start of a series sure to keep you entertained.
When I saw that some of the Wall Flowers series books are being offered in audiobook format I was thrilled. After listening to this, more than once, I have to give this my highest recommendation possible. If you like beautiful romance, and if you like excellent narration, you will not regret purchasing this audiobook. I am waiting anxiously for the remaining Wall Flower books to become available in audiobook format as well.
Easy to listen to. It's basically a historical romance in the style of pride and prejudice (ish) but with erotica (after marriage of course!)
I enjoyed it - easy listen! Have fun.
Beautifully done. Though, maybe it could have been done with a little more speed. The story was good, just a little slow to begin with or perhaps its just me. But I love their interaction.. so much chemistry even from the beginning. And then after the wedding, goodness, these two doesn't seem to have left that stage yet, even till the end. I will be reading the next one. Want to know more about the Earl.
Home is where my books are.
I loved Annabelle. Her family is down on it's luck after the death of her father and everything hinges on her making a good ton marriage. Unfortunately, without a dowry, and with her clothes much worst for wear, attracting a suitable man is clearly impossible. But our plucky heroine is determined to keep her chin up and persevere, even if she has to trick some hapless peer into marrying her.
Then along comes a wealthy commoner, Simon Hunt, a butcher's son who's made his fortune in industry. Simon is welcome at some ton events only because he's got friends in high places. He's met Annabelle before, and finds that he's still attracted to the lady, but she won't give him the time of day. To put it simply, Annabelle is a snob.
There's an oily villain, some fellow wallflowers (who act as fairy godmothers), and lots of opportunities for romance and misunderstanding at the Duke's estate during a months' long house party. The characters from Again the Magic are also here, so the series gather's some steam as more are introduced.
LK hits all the right notes with this one, and it's clear she had fun writing it. Best of all, you end up cheering for the leads.
