Luke Stevens has some serious issues, as well. While he was serving in Iraq, his wife dumped him for his best friend, his kids are furious because he left them, and he shared his medical practice with the man who's now sleeping with his wife. Seaview Key, where he grew up, seems like the perfect place to hide out until he makes some decisions and gets his life back on track. The last thing he expects is to fall in love...with his old hometown and with Hannah. Sometimes, though, the unexpected is just what it takes to start over...and to heal the heart.

The author captures many emotions that a woman "sandwiched" between her job, caring for her elderly grangparent and dealing with a teenage child might face. A lovely story of finding the life meant for you!
About 10 years ago my kids gave me an Audible account for my birthday. It was the best birthday present ever!
This book has it all: breast cancer, divorce, a wise grandma, a dead mother (more breast cancer), an absent father (divorce), a college drop-out pregnant daughter(he didn't use a condom, but why wasn't she on the pill??), divorce, Iraq war injuries, divorce, walks on the beach, a conveniently rich boyfriend, divorce, a cute and buff older surgeon/boyfriend who still has his hair, divorce, death, abandonment, redemption, you name it it's here, with the wonderful style of story telling that can only be described as "cliched". If you like trite, you won't want to miss this book. Why did I listen to the whole thing? Because I paid for it. 16 hours I'll never get back.
I have read many other books by Sheryl Woods and really enjoyed them. I just didn't feel this one. It had potential. . . I enjoyed the characters, but they lacked the ability to make me feel for them, or be emotionally invested in them. The book left a lot of things undeveloped, and unfinished in my mind. I re-listen to audio books a lot - helps me stick to unenjoyable tasks (exercise, cleaning). I will not be listening to this one again.
Not nearly as good
I just could not get into this book. The main character was not a very likeable person. I had to force myself to finish it, although I knew what was going to happen.
I bought this book on sale and did not realize that it was a Harlequin release. I appreciated that the book was not steamy, but it did not go anywhere. The relationship between the main character and her parents should have been more developed. Also the main character's internal struggles were not really delved into; maybe the character was supposed to be rather shallow, but that is not how the book is presented. In addition, the end of the book seems to come suddenly, with little real introspection on the part of the character. Disappointing, but at least partially my own fault.
