“A multilayered heroine and a sizzling-hot hero give readers plenty of emotional—and physical—action, and the relentless game of hunter and prey adds an adrenaline ride for good measure.” (Booklist)
This is a great story that will make a fabulous series, however the lead female character in this recorded version made me insane. The combination of her character along with the narroration was irritating to say the least. A lot of eye rolling while I listened.
I love action and suspense embedded in a good fantasy or mystery. Sprinkles of romance okay, but no erotica please.
I enjoy a focus on fantasy adventure with a bit a romance, rather than a focus on romance with a bit of adventure. I wish books were rated more like movies. I don't enjoy porn, even soft. It's not that I'm a prude, I just prefer enjoying first hand experience rather than reading about it. So I had to keep fast forwarding through many, many parts of this book, which was annoying. I guess I need more experience at reading between the lines in the publisher's review. The book seemed long, probably due to all the sex scenes. The writing was fine, though, so I gave it 3 stars. If you enjoy this sort of thing, then I recommend it. If you don't, now you know. :-)
Teacher, reader, listener! I am a southern lady with conservative views.
I didn't make it through the book because of the explicit sex scene at the beginning of the book. If you are like me and enjoy a good romance/thriller without all of the x rated content, this is NOT the book for you.
I wish Audible would have some way of indicating the graphic nature of the book, so that if a person isn't looking for that, they do not waste time and money.
The story wasn't bad, I'll definitely get the next book but the narration....ugh it was like listening to my grandfather tell a story. Which wouldn't be bad except for the graphic scenes. I really don't want to hear that in a grandpa voice, kind of grossed me out a little.
