“A multilayered heroine and a sizzling-hot hero give readers plenty of emotional—and physical—action, and the relentless game of hunter and prey adds an adrenaline ride for good measure.” (Booklist)
I have been waiting and hoping to find this book in audio form! I've read the entire series and I really hope they do all 4 books!
There is so much to enjoy in this book. The story lines are excellent and switch between easily, blending into one. Putting the book down was impossible! Listening is just as intense, and one I can't get enough of!
Once you start this series, you'll want to finish all of the four books back to back! Bravo to Christia Dodd for an excellent series and to audible.com for bringing it to audio!
I enjoyed the book enough to download the next in the series (and liked that one enough to download the third). The narration is adequate. Not great, but the narrator will do. I liked Jasha, he has a commanding personality, like most books. But Ann? She was a wuss and thoroughly irritated me. At one point she needs to remove an arrow from Jasha's shoulder and she was in the "I can't" mode for what seemed like forever. Thank goodness Jasha didn't croak before she made up her mind to help. I do realize that she saw Jasha turn into a wolf but you would think she was intelligent enough to know that he was the same guy she had worked with and lusted after for years. I like strong female characters and Ann fell short of that mark. It felt like she whined for 3/4 of the book. But the book was still an "okay" start to the series (which continues to get better).
I liked the book. It was written very smoothly with no sudden characters or events that took you away from the story. I thought Richard Ferrone did a good job in narrating and the plot definitely held my interest. I disagree with another reader who thought our heroine was a "wimp". For me she was an honest human being, afraid of blood in the first place, with an over-the-top but truthful reaction.
With that said, I do understand that particular criticism because I've read many books where the brave heroine whines throughout the whole story. And I'm referring to well known, successful writers. (Can't stand that either). I recommend this book for a first read. I was able to purchase this on sale which made it a better listen. Personally, I think werewolves are sexy and the author served this sexy man/werewolf on a plate of delicious supernatural!
The story kept you interested. It's not just another story about a werewolf but about a family with curses, different types of animals (so they are not all competing with each other.
Loved his voice
I really enjoyed the book from start to finish ....This was one of those books I found hard to put down.
I have been a Christina Dodd fan for years and this book is one of my favorites. I like how she incorporates the supernatural with the everyday in a believable (Hey - that could be me) way.
I happen to love Richard Ferrone's voice and think it's sexy.
This was an enjoyable book. Christina Dodd did a great job but the narration could have been better-he was not the right voice for the job. Please get the rest of this series on audible please!
I rate this book with four stars. Love the bad boy images of the family. I also likes Ann's character as she struggles to find where shr belongs
Ann was my favorite character
Married, middle-age, owner of 3 dogs, 2 cats, and a messy house.
I have just listened to this for the second time. So many things are buried in the first story that become important later!! I love it. It makes the whole story that much richer.
This series definitely needs to be heard/read in order. I really like the characters and wish some were more developed. Ms. Dodd took the time to actually finish this story, rather than just stop, which helped the main characters become a little more believable.
This series does improve in the following books. This isn't her best writing, but I still enjoyed the tumultuous love story, mystery, and family interactions. And I love how it ends, now that I know who the last character really is!
