    "Unexpected plot twists"

As a romance novel junkie for over 30 years, I was actually pleasantly surprised by a couple of the plot changes in this book. Robards did a good job on this story. Well worth the listen. Good narrator.

    "Keep the Surprises Coming"

This was the 1st Karen Robards Book I ever read and I go back to it again and again. The twists and turns in the plot keep the pages turning way past "lights out time" and I'm always biting my nails by the end I am just so nervous.
This is a great addition to any Historical Romance fans collection.

This was a decent story. Starts off a little slow but picks up towards the middle and is great at the end!

    "Good Story!"

Unlike some I've listen to lately, "Scandalous" actually has a story worth listening to ... intrigue, scandal and romance.

It seems Justine Eyre's performance depends on the book she's reading -- she did well narrating "Scandalous".

Call me a hopeless romantic, it is true. I enjoyed this book very much and am lookiing for more by Ms Robards. I thought the narration was excellent. All in all, it did not disappoint.

"Rushed, impersonal narration ruins a good story"

Sometimes you have to be patient until your ear grows accustomed to the narrator, but this time it was impossible. The narration is rushed and impersonal, with little inflection unless she speaks in a character's voice, for which she has to slow down a little. It made the story kind of embarrassing, if you know what I mean. I'm a long-time audio book reader (since tapes!) and this is the first book I've ever listened to that has destroyed the story. I read "Shameless" first so I know the writer is great.

    "unsuitable Narrator"

Story was worth the listen but the narrator voice tone and inflections sounded like a 17th century valley girl. Very grating.

    "WOW.."
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Anyone who doesn't mind not having dialogue. Anyone who just wants unimportant stuff written to take up space in a book.

What do you think your next listen will be?

I'm going to start Every Night I'm Yours by Christie Kelley as soon as I finish here.

What about Justine Eyre’s performance did you like?

    She always fabulous!

    Any additional comments?

Every once in a while I just skim and skim and skim a book and this was one of them. The story itself was good but there was such a waste of pages taken up with so much worthless stuff. I don't HAVE to know what every single dress looks like or every single outfit a man wore or what every garden, house, room looked like. I really don't see myself reading another book by Ms. Robards. Also, there were pages and pages of no one saying a word and I hate that. I like the characters to be involved and when no one talks then they are not involved. I don't want someone to just tell me a story and that's, pretty much, all this author does. Sorry..I probably skimmed 100 pages, all together, so that tells me the book is too long or it's too boring at that point.
As usual, Ms. Eyre was fantastic.
