Kendra Larkin had everything going in the right direction. Her life was seemingly perfect, and she wouldn't have changed a thing about it. Unfortunately, the course of her life was about to be forever altered. A tragic rappelling accident lands her on Dr. Adam Chamberlain's operating table.
She agrees to a deal proposed by a guardian angel to help save the soul of the man who is both her doctor and soulmate. If she is successful, she gets to keep her life. However, she later learns that it isn't just her life that's in jeopardy, but her soul as well.
Even with the help of her handsome guardian angel, Rhyan, it seems there is no happy ending in sight. Torn between her newly discovered love of Rhyan, and the undeniable attraction she has for Adam, Kendra finds herself at a crossroad. With Adam's steadfast rejection of God, and his guardian demon conspiring against her, she fears her soul may already be lost.
Will she find a way to overcome the evil her life is suddenly burdened with? Or will Adam's guardian demon win both their souls and make Kendra his own personal puppet in Hell?

K.S Haigwood - Save My Soul
Reading as much as I do it is almost inevitable for me to reach a point where a novel plot line is something so elusive it almost becomes a myth. So when I started on this audio book I was shocked, delighted and intrigued with the authors ease in taking a concept so apparently logical and yet never really before explored in fiction and weaving a tale of love, loss and lust around it.
As far as novel plot line -- a 5 *. I am sure I might very well come by a guardian demon battling alongside a guardian angel in future but for now bravo to the author for entertaining me with a novel concept.
Title -- love the double entendre. You'll have to read it to know what I mean. 5*.
Theme -- as old as time it self. Love conquers all. How can I give it less than 5 *.
Execution and pace of the novel. Very well done. Sometimes I figured too much emphasis was placed on the lusty scenes but this will resonate with romance lovers.
Character building and setting. 5 *.
This was an audible copy and in this I hit a hitch.
Erin Mallon narrated the book for 7 hours 23 minutes.
Either the mixing or the narrator herself caused the first few segments of the book to be somewhat hard to listen to. The narrators exaggerated breathing at the end of sentences was extremely distracting.
Honestly she sounded like an asthma sufferer who needed to control her breathing at the start of an attack. This lasted for a few segments until it evened out. Again, I am unsure if this is the narrator or the productions fault. I also, due to the breathing issue became aware of how exceptionally well the narrator pronounces each word. I am torn between a rating of 2 due to the rocky start and 4 due to precision and eventual correcting of the problem so I will stand off at a very high 3.
In total a 4* listen and read.
I absolutely loved this book I couldn't turn it off I listened to it almost an the way straight thru in one sitting it held me captive and had me holding my breath and praying everything went good I couldn't wait to get to the next chapter amazing work very well written
Great story about the power of love and death. Character build up is fantastic and it is easy to fall in love with each character. The descriptive writing of Haigwood is absolutely amazing. She is able to transport the reader into the story.
A definite battle of good vs. evil and a literal fight to the death to save the one she loves.
For me, yes because audio books are easier for me to focus on, in general.
I really liked Kendra, because shes a fighter, and her personality was really relatable, plus shes sarcastic and funny as hell!
No I havent, not before this....
Not all light is good...
This book was fkin amazing and epic as hell! Cant wait till i can get the next!
OK so I am not answering these questions......
Overall I enjoyed this story. I think it had great potential, was interesting, and set up the premise of the series nicely. I like the idea of the angel on your shoulder or conscience being your guide thing.
What I did not like was the lack of development of the love story itself. It was as if being soul mates was enough to make everything work out in the end. I understood the attraction between the heroine and her many male suitors, but I did not understand the love. It seemed a case of sexual attraction equaled true emotion in this case.
I am interested in Ryan's story but I would have liked this one to have had more meat.
The narrator had this weird breath thing going on at the end of each sentence. It was a bit distracting but other than that her voice was easy to listen to and I enjoyed her reading of the story.
This book is one I will read again and again. It has such a great love story with excitement at every turn. This is a new author for me and I am hooked. She has well defined the characters and gets right into the story so its not a slow read. I couldn't stop listening. The audio version was great because I could listen in my car and at work where I normally would not be able to. It is a great start to this amazing series. I can't wait for more.
This was a great story! I really enjoyed the characters!
KS Haigwood has a great way of story telling.
The breathing in between each sentence was off putting.
When I discovered Audible it was like discovering love :-) I love receiving codes and in return I post reviews. Wife, and mom of two,
Kendra Larkin is somewhat of a daredevil from what I gathered from the story. She's athletic, adventurous, and she's always eager to try new things. But, as she goes out on one of these adventures with friends, Kendra ends up in the hospital fighting for her life. Even though she's in a hospital being operated on she can hear everything and finds herself drawn to this one voice, her doctor Adam Chamberlain. She also finds out that she has a guardian angel and if she wants to live then she must agree to help save the soul of the man who happens to be the doctor who operated. Kendra agrees to do this and she's been guaranted less than a week to get this man to believe in God again or she'll die, die for good this time. Things aren't so easy and Kendra finds herself in the hospital a few times too many and everyone begins to think she's suicidal. Kendra is in the fight of her life trying to get Adam to have faith in God again. With everything stacked against her, will Kendra live or will she die?
Author Kristie (K.S.) Haigwood blew me away. I loved how the story was about faith, good vs evil, yet Kristie took this story where some authors wouldn't. I was amazed that Kristie wrote a story with religion along with explicit sex details. Most authors wouldn't dare mix the two. She has my attention and I applaud her for taking this story in the direction she wanted it to go despite what people might think or say. This is what writing a great story is all about. This is what makes a terrific author, a best selling author. I can see author Kristie Haigwood going places and finding a publisher if she wants one. I am a fan now after listening to this story. Kristie has written a brilliant story, written to perfection.
The narrator Erin Mallon made this story great to listen to. I was able to connect to the characters and she did an excellent job with distinguishing the characters. This story had quite alot of voices in this story. Erin had to give each character a voice to make that character unique, especially with Kendra's many voices. No, I don't mean possession of any kind it's an inner voice, an outer voice, and so forth. Erin was able to do all these voices with no trouble at all. She amazed me with her performance throughout the entire story. She hooked me from the start and kept me glued to the story from beginning to end. Her voice was made for this story. Erin's narrating skills brought this story to life and I highly recommend this story. I personally think it's a 5 star rating and if you don't believe me then find out for yourself. Really, what do you have to lose? You can't go wrong with Audibles warranty.
"An Interesting Story!"
This is an intriguing paranormal romance. I really enjoyed it!
I originally downloaded this on my Kindle a while ago, as I was intrigued with the blurb. However, I decided to also download an audio copy so I could listen to it whilst doing household chores.
I was, however, a little disappointed with the narrator of this story. Erin Mallon read the story clearly and gave each character their own voice, but I found that when she came to take a breath after a comma, or at the end of a sentence and to start the next, it was rather loud and annoying. In a way, her breathing showcased the precise way she pronounced each word, so I cannot fault her for that. Nevertheless, her deep breaths distracted me from enjoying the story more.
Kendra Larkin is a character that I wasn't sure I liked. I found her character a bit superficial and weak; she was not as well developed as she could have been. Nevertheless, she does have a few redeeming qualities. She is kind and loving, though she is a bit of a daredevil, and is a photographer by trade.
I started listening to this story and, apart from the narrator's breathing, found myself hooked. I am not particularly religious, but I do believe that everyone of us has a soul, and that each of us has a soulmate, even if we haven't met them yet. However, although I am a consummate romantic, I am not convinced about insta-love. Nevertheless, I set aside my skepticism and went with it for the sake of the story.
This story does have a rather religious feel to it, though it is not preachy. I also found some of the dialogue a little cheesy at times, and I kept wanting to roll my eyes because of it. But this is just my opinion; other readers may not feel the same way.
I liked meeting a few of the characters; I did find Adam Chamberlain a bit self-absorbed and conceited at first, though as the story progressed, I began to like him more. I did, however, like Rhyan from the start. He is Kendra's guardian Angel. He seemed to be a stronger character; more suited to being the lead, rather than a secondary one. I liked his determination to help and guide Kendra in her task. I also liked Mason, Kendra's nurse. But, things are not as they seem and, as the story takes a decidedly darker twist, I found myself cheering on Kendra as she took on Adam's guardian Demon. The story ended happily, and I am now looking forward to reading/listening to the next book, Hell's Gift, as soon as possible.
K.S. Haigwood has written a wonderful paranormal romance. I loved her fast paced writing style, and the flow of the story was wonderful. I will be following her career with interest.
I recommend this story if you love older YA or paranormal romance genres. - Lynn Worton
"Excellent story but not keen on the narration "
I loved this story and I have to say, I'm team Rhyan all the way! There was just something that didn't sit right with Adam for me. but that's just my opinion.
it was exciting, interesting and very well written. I will definitely be downloading the next book in series.
My only fault is the narration, she sounded like the love child of keanu reeves and romy from romy and Michelle's high school reunion when she was speaking for the men in the book which took slightly away from the enjoyment of the romantic scenes
but all in all an excellent book
"Supernatural Mills and Boone"
Less talk about God.
The fact that she just assumes that Christianity is the only religion.
The performance could have been better with a bit of irony.
It was the only book on my iPod that I hadn't listened to.
I think books which push religion should have a warning on them.
