Publisher's Summary

Southern belle BeBe Loudermilk has lost all her worldly possessions, thanks to a brief but disastrous relationship with the gorgeous Reddy, an "investment counselor" who turns out to be a con man. All that's left is a ramshackle 1950s motel on Tybee Island, an eccentric beach town that calls itself a drinking village with a fishing problem.

Breeze Inn is a place where the very classy BeBe wouldn't normally be caught dead, but with no alternative, she moves into the manager's unit, vowing to make magic out of mud. The work is grueling, especially dealing with the bad-tempered caretaker, a fishing captain named Harry who's trying to earn enough dough to get his boat out of hock. With the help of Harry and her junking friend Weezie, BeBe soon has the motel spiffed up and attracting paying guests.

Then there's a sighting of Reddy in Fort Lauderdale, and BeBe decides to go after him. She puts together a posse, and with the irrepressible Granddaddy Loudermilk snoring in the backseat of the Buick, heads south. The plan is to carry out a sting that may be just a little bit outside the law but that, with any luck at all, will retrieve BeBe's fortune and put the dastardly Reddy in jail, where he belongs. And maybe Harry, who's looking more hunky every day, will finally get his boat back.

    "Well worth it....."

This audio book was entertaining and enjoyable. The narrator is very good, she kept the characters separate and it was easy to distinguish between them, she spoke clearly. The story held my interest from beginning to end and it was a well structured story. This was a very adverturous story and I didn't want it to end. Well worth the one credit I used for it.

    "Dissapointing"

This will be my last Mary Kay Andrews audible book, while the book itself is wonderful, and I highly recommend it, I found the audio book monotonous, and what is worse is that the narrator kept mispronouncing the main characters name as Beebee, not Bay-Bay as is stated in the book itself numerous times! Its small things like these that ruined the audio book for me.

    "Cute story, weak narration"
What did you like about this audiobook?

Another cute and charmIng story from Mary Kay Andrews, but the narrator's poor southern accent and inability to pronounce many vital names and places correctly was distracting. Part of that blame must go to the producers too, who didn't keep any continuity between the audiobooks in the same series. Bottom line, it's a good book, but I wish I had read it not listened to it.

"Love the story - but mistake making it abridged"
What made the experience of listening to Savannah Breeze the most enjoyable?

The characters that were in Savannah Blues picking up in Savannah Breeze was great! Mary Kay Andrews did an excellent job in continuing the adventures of Bee Bee and Weezy. The new characters were also a welcomed addition.

Mary Kay Andrews should get this audiobook narrated in the unabridged version immediately available. I would buy it immediately, but will now need to buy the hard copy version and read it to get all the details and back story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Bee Bee was my favorite character. Getting to know her more in this book was great. I found myself relating to her situation in the book which made it easy for me to understand her personality.

What aspect of Isabel Keating’s performance would you have changed?

Having a different narrator for Savannah Breeze versus Savannah Blues left me not enjoying it sometime. The narrator in Savannah Blues set the tone and voices in my mind for this book. I would prefer the book read to me without voice changes. She made Weezy sound like she was dumb, but actually she was a very smart and savvy character.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Sassy Southern Hospitality is Guaranteed when you check into the Savannah Breeze

    Any additional comments?

Mary Kay Andrews is a great author - love her books.

    "great book, horrible narrator"

The story is very good....I liked it. But did not like the narrator...I would have liked listening to this story a lot more if it was read by the same person who read Savannah Blues

    "Very Disappointing"
Would you try another book from Mary Kay Andrews and/or Isabel Keating?

I love Mary Kay Andrews books. I have most of them from Audible and will definitely get more. I will just be more careful to make sure they are not this narrator and not abridged.

Would you recommend Savannah Breeze to your friends? Why or why not?

No. First of all, it is abridged which is my own fault I didn't look closely at the listing but none of my other audible books by Mary Kay Andrews were abridged. Secondly, the narrator was HORRIBLE, butchering the names of people and places.

What didn’t you like about Isabel Keating’s performance?

Horrible pronunciation of names and places, voices for characters were odd, very fake southern accent

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Savannah Breeze?

It was abridged, I would say none

    Any additional comments?

Very disappointing from a great author and usually good audible.

"This book is why you shouldn't buy abridged!"
What disappointed you about Savannah Breeze?

I had just finished "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" (a terrific book with excellent narration - 5 star +) and was still craving books about Savannah. "Savannah Breeze" and "Savannah Blues" by Mary Kay Andrews came up on my search so I bought them both without noticing that "Savannah Breeze" was abridged. I listened to it first and was so unimpressed. The reader was bad and the story so edited that none of the flavor of Savannah came through at all. I then went on to listen to "Savannah Blues" and what a difference. It was entertaining and the narrator was very good. Ditch "Savannah Breeze" and head straight for "Savannah Blues" (but not until you listen to "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" first).

What could Mary Kay Andrews have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Not have allowed an abridged version to be released!

How could the performance have been better?

Use the narrator from "Savannah Blues." She was so much better!

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Savannah Breeze?

Cut? I would have added more!

    "Savannah Breeze is great!"
What did you love best about Savannah Breeze?

I grew up in south Georgia less than an hour from Savannah. It is wonderful reading a book about an area that I am familar with. I loved that she keep a secret about one of the characters until the end.

Which character – as performed by Isabel Keating – was your favorite?

All of the characters were wonderful! I can't pick a favorite.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This was the funniest book that I have listened to in a long time. I immediatley purchased another audible book by Mary Kay Andrews.

The story line was great. Ms Andrews was able to incorporate many players in this storyline and bring them all together exceptionally well. I will definitely be reading other books by this wonderful writer.
