Publisher's summary

Southern belle BeBe Loudermilk has lost all her worldly possessions, thanks to a brief but disastrous relationship with the gorgeous Reddy, an "investment counselor" who turns out to be a con man. All that's left is a ramshackle 1950s motel on Tybee Island, an eccentric beach town that calls itself a drinking village with a fishing problem.

Breeze Inn is a place where the very classy BeBe wouldn't normally be caught dead, but with no alternative, she moves into the manager's unit, vowing to make magic out of mud. The work is grueling, especially dealing with the bad-tempered caretaker, a fishing captain named Harry who's trying to earn enough dough to get his boat out of hock. With the help of Harry and her junking friend Weezie, BeBe soon has the motel spiffed up and attracting paying guests.

Then there's a sighting of Reddy in Fort Lauderdale, and BeBe decides to go after him. She puts together a posse, and with the irrepressible Granddaddy Loudermilk snoring in the backseat of the Buick, heads south. The plan is to carry out a sting that may be just a little bit outside the law but that, with any luck at all, will retrieve BeBe's fortune and put the dastardly Reddy in jail, where he belongs. And maybe Harry, who's looking more hunky every day, will finally get his boat back.

Critic reviews

"Andrews writes with tongue firmly in cheek, presenting a cast of eccentric characters and a plot that's decidedly over-the-top." (Publishers Weekly)

Sequel to Savannah Blues

I wish it would have had the same person narrating as the SavannahBlues! She knew how to say Baebae and not Beeebee. The other lady sounded like a true southerner.

Fun Story, Awful Narrator

Im very disappointed in all of the narrators for the four books in this series. The problems with accent, word pronunciation, and not the least understanding of the material is awful.
The story is great fun. I enjoyed reading this book and the other three in the series so much that I still read each about 1-2 times a year. The narration is so bad that it was painful to listen. I'm now tentative abbot listening to any of this author's other books.

Other narrator

Cute story but original narrator was better. The Southern lilt doesn’t lull the reader the way it should in this tale.

A great listen after Savannah Blues!

It is not as good as Savannah Blues, but this is a great listen afterward with much of the same characters.

Not a fan of the reader / narrator’s interpretation of the character voices

Like the story but the narrator’s interpretation of the characters voices just isn’t right. It’s made it hard to listen to.

Was a pleasant surprise

In the first few minutes, I never thought I would make it through a book with silly mimicked accents and a lead character named Bibi Laudermilk...but keep listening, Loved the story just felt like it ended a bit abruptly. I never did connect with her love interest, seemed like they were indifferent for the most part.

Not as good as her others

I didn't care for the voices of the male characters. They sounded cartoony. I liked Savannah Blues better.

So-so

I like MKA and think she does some entertaining books that are lighthearted and fun. I just didn't like the voice actor for this one.
