Blake Coleman is old enough to know that acting on impulse causes nothing but a heap of trouble. But when trouble's a western-hat-wearing blonde with slim legs that go on forever, what's a man to do? Wanting the sweet girl next door is just wrong. The responsible thing to do is keep his hands off. Jaxi has other plans for Blake's hands - and his heart. She may have once considered him a big brother, but that was a long time ago.
Jaxi's all grown up now and ready to convince him that she's perfect for him. Except he can't seem to see past the big "do not touch" sign that's apparently still hanging around her neck. When Jaxi ends up living right under Blake's nose, the heat between them slides past simmer and leaps up to barn-burning levels. However, a few of the younger six-pack Colemans have decided that Jaxi's brand of trouble is worth risking a few busted bones. That is, if Blake's finally ready to let go of the reins and fight for what he wants...

I love being swept away by a new romance and thankfully Audible's ever growing Library means I get to indulge myself over and over again
This is the beginning of an endearing compelling family saga about the Coleman family of Ranchers and, in particular, the 6 handsome troublesome brothers and their complicated questionable love lives.
Blake, the oldest of the brothers, is a handsome, hot, brooding, sexy, alpha male whose loyalty to his family and his morals are paramount in his life. But he has one dilemma - his control over his long-term secret attraction to the much younger, and therefore untouchable, family friend Jaxi has reached snapping point and it's about to be tested beyond it's limits. Jaxi's evolution from just having a childhood crush on Blake has changed into a desperate, longing and enduring love and she's going all out to capture him..... whatever it takes.
This vividly portrayed, emotionally tender, hot romance also gives us an insight into the personalities of the other five brothers, the parents and the characters in the community. It's an intense very enjoyable listen that's full of humor, drama, sexual chemistry, lust, hot sex, M/F/M action (not Blake and Jaxi), witty banter and sets the groundwork for the next book in the series Rocky Mountain Haven.
Worth a credit? Presumably there will be 6 books in this series and, based on this well written story, I'll happily be spending 6 credits - so that's a YES.
Love books. Can get lost in them and spend hours there.
You will love this story. You will be pulled into this story and you will not stop till you finished
The narration was fine as was the story. It just the same ole same old. Maybe less raunchy than Lorelei James and her rough rider series.
I am a wife, mother, friend, teacher, technology coordinator, and avid reader of both audio and print books.
Sexy and heart felt story about the oldest son and the little girl from next door. Loved it and can't wait for the other 5 boys to have their happily ever after!
Author. Audiobook lover. UberGeek.
I'd give it 3 1/2 starts.
From the cover (I "read" the audio from audible--which has a less manchest cover), I expected a sweet romance, and on some levels it was just that. It's a story about a cowboy and the girl next door. Blake is much older and tries to see Jaxi as a little sister (even though he finds he sexy). Jaxi on the other hand, is trying hard to get him to notice her.
It's definitely a sweet story about a love affair, a loving family, and friendship. I wasn't expecting the extra hot sex.
The rest of this review contains SPOILERS!!!
YOU WERE WARNED!
The sex is steamy and not all missionary all the time and not always with just two people! Holy ménage Batman! Where did that come from!
Things I liked:
The Coleman brothers. Wow. It isn't called the "Six Pack Ranch" because there are six of them! The author did a great job at giving all six brothers distinct personalities, and hinted at plenty of debauchery to come from the descriptions of the brother's preferences. I'm looking at you Travis...I know what your secret is!! (not to mention Jesse and Joel)
I loved Blake. I can totally believe Jaxi was in love with him her whole life.
What I didn't:
I felt the second half of the story dragged on. There was the big sex scenes right in the middle of the book, but then we went back to "dating." The pacing felt a little off. I get the "extra" stuff in the book helps set up the series, but some of the side scenes slowed the story down.
I have issue with Jaxi. I would have liked her completely 100% if it wasn't for the fact that, for being in love with Blake, she sure didn't have a problem with fooling around with his brothers. Even if things were just flirty with them, it's not something you do when you're in love with a guy.
Over all, I enjoyed the book. I've already downloaded the next book. I really liked the brother and want to find out their fate in love.
I love books and love to get lost in the fantasy. I'm always looking for a new good story to bury myself in. :)
This was a pretty good book. I liked Jaxi and Blake and their story was very enjoyable. This is the first book I've read by this author and based on this I'm sure I'll try more of her work in the future.
Jaxi grew up wanting one thing, Blake. She and her family moved to town when she was a kid and as she grew up she knew that Blake was the one for her. She tried dating Travis (his younger brother) in an attempt to get past him but it never worked. Jaxi went to many college (and other types) classes to learn what she thought she needed to be the best rancher's wife to Blake. Now she just needs to find a way to get him to see her as something more than a little girl.
Blake is the oldest of 6 brothers and has taken on the mantle of the oldest by running the ranch and doing whatever is need to take care of his family. Blake has wanted Jaxi for years but because he's 10 years older than her he thinks it's impossible. Also he has himself convinced that she thinks of him at a brother type.
When the story begins, Blake's mother has just had an accident that leaves her with a broken arm. This is going to inhibit her daily work and in an effort to keep her from overtaxing herself, Jaxi is hired to help the family around the ranch to help take up the slack left and to keep Blake's mother from over taxing herself trying to do stuff she shouldn't. Jaxi is 21 now and ready to make her interest known to Blake so when his father asks her to help out she agrees, thinking the proximity will help her cause. Because of his attraction to Jaxi, Blake has been staying away from her rather than take the chance and show his feelings. He's convinced she'd be freaked by his feelings for her and keeps berating himself as if it's a majorly bad thing because of their age difference. With Jaxi staying in the house, Blake does indeed have trouble avoiding her.
While looking after things and helping around the ranch, Jaxi starts on her campaign to gain Blake's attention. His brothers mostly know her interest is in Blake but there are a couple that seems to be willing to make a play for Jaxi as well and aren't content to wait around when Blake wont make a move. Blake Keeps trying to push Jaxi away, thinking she's too young and doesn't know her mind. In his pushing her away, he insinuates that she should be with someone her own age but when it comes down to it, Blake can't let her move on with someone else and they finally come together explosively. Once they're together, there are a few doubts to work through but things go pretty well overall. Blake decided to "woo" Jaxi (even though she's already his) and it works well for them, allowing them time to deepen their relationship and the smaller things that come with true intimacy. Things progress and culminate for the couple and the story ends with Jaxi and Blake starting their HEA.
I enjoyed this story and liked the characters very much. Blake was cool outside of his initial (rather dumb) resistance to Jaxi. Jaxi was a good female lead, I thought she seemed nice and I liked her determination and the strives she made to make her dream come true. Overall, I liked the story and had no major complaints. I'm sure I'll be reading more of this series in the future. I'd recommend this book. :)
My favorite things are my family and my books! Depending on the day, not in that order. :)
I was kind of wishy washy with this book. I found it hard to deal with the dynamics of the relationship between the leading female and all of the brothers! I get it that she was in love with Blake and that she really wanted to be all that she thought he needed. She took classes to make her the best ranchers wife? What? I liked the fact that she went after what she wanted, but was disappointed about how weak the leading male character was.
MORE SEX THAN STORY, DON'T MIND SEX IF YOU HAVE A STORY TO GO WITH IT. ALSO, NOT HAPPY WITH HER WORD FOR THE FEMALE SEX ORGAN.
Down to earth romantic love story with a little bit of country
Blake - he is so strong, smart and dumb at the same time hot men
really don't want to give away the story
Not really finished the book in one sitting
Yes, I thought T.S.'s narration was all right. Her male voices were distinct as were her female voices. The emphases when needed were a little lacking, but overall I thought she did well. I thought the pairing of the two, VA & TS were pretty good as well.
Yes, especially to give her the benefit of the doubt - that being that she can add a little more excitement and pizzazz to her storyline. Come on VA, we know you can do it.
A little lacking.
Yes. As I stated above, there could be more umph and pizzazz in the storyline so it is my hope that with each additional follow-up, if there are some, VA will make them more intriguing, exciting, mysterious, anything more.
