Sadie Townsend is known by all as The Ice Princess and she’s worked hard to earn her reputation. Her father, a now-incarcerated Drug Lord, has kept her under his thumb her whole life, and she’s learned enough from living in his world to give everyone the cold shoulder. But one inebriated night, she shows Hector the Real Sadie, and he knows he’ll stop at nothing to have her. Hector Chavez makes one (huge) mistake: he waits for Sadie to come to him. Tragedy strikes, and Sadie’s got a choice. She can retreat behind her Ice Fortress, or she can embrace the Rock Chick/Hot Bunch World. Guided by Hector, the Rock Chicks, the Hot Bunch and her new gay roommates, Buddy and Ralphie, Sadie negotiates a life out from under her father’s thumb. A life that includes poison, arson and learning how to make s’mores.

Listening to all things Kristen Ashley
I was rocking along with this series until this book. Kidnappings, shootouts, car explosions you name it, but none as bad as what Sadie face in this book. I cry for dear Sadie. Not everyone can bounce back from being through such emotional trauma as being raped to actually be in a normal relationship with someone (Even though I would not call any of these relationship normal!!). Then again only a true Rock Chick could pull that off. These girls are in a relationships with men with bad ass jobs so they got to be hard as nail to deal yeah. Credit worthy listen folks. I am in love with this series. Kristen Ashley and Susannah Jones together makes this series a blast.
P.S. would totally watch the TV Series Rock Chicks :P
I love all of the Rock Chick stories, but this one is probably the most emotional. Sadie is a complex character with a lot to learn about friendship and love. She has a lot of walls built up due to her upbringing. Sadie's life is endangered after her father is incarcerated, and Hector, one of the Hot Bunch is not willing to leave her to the wolves. He is also not willing to let her close herself off to him or run away. It's another hot ride with the Rock Chicks and the Hot Bunch. The narrator in this series does a fantastic job - she's one of my favorites.
Better things to do but this is more fun.
This is one of my fave KA books and that's saying something cause I pretty much love them all. We get to see the transformation of Sadie (an outsider to the Rock Chick clan) and Hector's emergence in the Hot Bunch. If you liked the rest of the series, you'll probably enjoy this. I'd add that it has more violence against women than the earlier books (going beyond kidnapping and roughing up - one of the first chapters covers Sadie's assault) so be careful if you're tenderhearted.
As for the performance - overall, not bad. However (and I so want to put that in all CAPS), I have to ask the artist and future editors to fix the Spanish pronunciations.... or maybe they pronounce "hija" and "hijo" (daughter and son, respectively) differently up in Denver than they do here in So Texas. In this part of the world, "hija/hijo" is pronounced "eeha/eeho". "Mi hija/hijo" is usually contracted to "mee-ha/mee-ho". Now, the reason for this pronunciation lesson is because, when Sadie goes to Blanca's house for dinner, Blanca calls her mi hija but pronounces it "mee hee-ha". It is pronounced like this repeatedly, including when Jet explains what it means to Sadie. Arrgh. I loved this story in ebook form and hate that the voice artist can effect a Spanish accented English without knowing how to pronounce a few words in the language itself - there aren't even that many Spanish words and she gets "cielo" right so what gives? Again, maybe it's different up in Denver...... Yeesh. (BTW, the same pronunciation was in Jet/Eddie's story.) It won't stop me from listening to the last book but it discourages me from listening to this one again.
Missouri Mom with lots of Opinions! Love to listen to Audio Book Series!
Hector met Sadie when working undercover for the DEA. His case involved Sadie's father, a Drug Dealer and bad guy supreme. Hector had his eye on Sadie during his undercover operation but had kept it to himself until it was over.
Hector waited a year for Sadie to come to him but after she was brutally raped, Hector vows to keep her safe and make her his.
This is a heartwarming story of two people falling in love under some tough circumstances and coming through it together in the end.
Again, Kristen dazzled me with this story of two good, deserving people that fall in love and find their way to happiness.
Susannah, as always, you do a kick ass job on narrating!
So far my least favorite book of the series. Sadie "ICE PRINCESS" drove me nuts! This lady was bitchy and annoying. I wanted to strangle her for being rude and an idiot. You gotta hot man and you still gripe. She did have hard times in the story and a hard life so i get it but darn girl enough already with the attitude.
If you have started the series from the beginning then keep it going but if you are just an occasional listener to these books then skip it.
Narration was awesome as always!
I really enjoy the world of books! Narration just add layers to that world... don't u think? :)
This was actually my least favorite of the series... I just didn't like Sadie... I understood her, but c'mon, after a while she could have let the b*tchy attitude go and just gave in, to Hector and the Rock Chick girls.
I mean I got it... she grew up in a criminal organization, and had to have that tough exterior... but IDK.. I just didn't like Sadie...
Hector... was a bit gruff and rougher than Eddie... which totally worked for him... So... thumbs up to Hector...
Narration, again.. was awesome...
Great credit or sale.. Only buy if you have invested into the rest of the series... as this is a really pricey book, but well worth it.
I have to say this about all the Rock Chick books as each has made me cry at least once while listening to it. Awesome books!!!
