Love this series

What did you love best about Reunion Pass?

I loved finally getting to see Laurie and Chase together but I hated what Chase had to go through to get there.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Chase was my favorite. We have seen he and Laurie grow but Chase has matured so much over the years.

Which scene was your favorite?

Has to be either when she dropped off the dog and drove off with Chase holding him and telling her he couldn't keep him or Chase teaching the tadpoles.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I both laughed and cried. No way around it with what Chase went through.

Any additional comments?

I have loved this author for a long time but just started listening to the series as well. The narrator does a pretty good job with the different accents.

Not for me

This is the second title in this series that I have attempted. I had no idea it was tragedy porn. People don't just go through a rough spot or the occasional tragic event. It will be the single worst situation she can come up with because she can't seem to find the nuance of growth and healing within the aspects of the normal human experience. It won't just be a car wreck, it will be a small child left for days in a car with his dead mother while wolves circle the car. Every single tragic event her characters go through are newsworthy tragedies and it's a linked series so think about how many people living in one community could possibly have so much happen. It's fascinating how many people think this type of writing is "beautiful."

Also, the number of times she used the term "snowflake" was getting ridiculous. Seeing and hearing idiots parroting that phrase as an insult for younger folk or people in a different political party for a couple of years made me start equating that phrase with people I'd rather not get stuck having to spend any time around.

So, this author is not for me.

Narrator needed better preparation

Story was pretty good, but the narrator was frustrating to listen to. She consistently changed how she pronounced one of the main characters names and mispronounced several other words.

Enjoyable but over the top. Needs editing badly

The storyline is nice. I felt for the characters. The tensions between former lovers having moved on was palatable, which added a delicious anticipation. I didn't love the MCs but I liked them well enough. Their previous love story was romantic.

There are a few surprises. The memories/ flashbacks add depth but the narrator doesn't do a very good job distinguishing present to flashback segway. This leads to a little temp confusion that had me rewinding a several times.

The sheer volume of subcharacters memtioned and their relationships to each other was down right head spinning, especially because it was often accompanied by additional alternative backstories that have nothing to do with the MCs. I've only read 2 other E.S. books so maybe a very seasoned fan would not have the trouble I did keeping up with who was who townies. Examples compounding the frustration when listening to - 2 military men named Jack vs. Jax... A best friend was named Ric and the date was Brick, with grandpa Branch in same family... really? The groom was Michael Chase and the bride's bro Michael Clark.... come on! For me this was a unwelcome lazy writing problem.

I REALLY HATED the derogatory political inferences... the belittling term 'snowflake' was used so often it became apparent the author was trying to make a statement. 100% complete turn off!

The narration was ok but she makes LOTS of mistakes... or there are lots of typos in the book she is reading. Each mistake is distracting and veered me off the story again and again trying to figure out what was meant.

The story was too long & would have been so much better with some obviously needed editing... I wish they had recorded the abridged version instead.

Heart wrenching but truly beautiful

Wow!
This story really did tug at my heartstrings.
With so much tragedy and emotions Chase and Lori’s story was written so beautifully.
I loved it.

love this series, narrator not so much.

I love this series, but starting with this book, the narrator has some very bad habits, like exceptionally long pauses before saying a character's name in the middle of dialogue. She also can't keep one of the character's names straight. I had to re-listen to several sections of the book to realize that Lana ( short a sound) and Lana (long a sound) were the same character. There are several tropes used a lot throughout this series that are a little bit excessive... for example every male character is called the by their last name by their love interest, and every female character is given a sappy and sometimes forced nickname by their love interest. In this particular book, " glitter bug," just seems forced. The stories of this series, and the character development and how they overlap with the other books, but a lot of it seems regurgitated once you get into the stories.

Overall good story

I am extremely picky about narrators, and Amy Landon is ok, but not my favorite. A great narrator can make a bad book great and a bad narrator can make a good book bad… that being said, she did not ruin it, she just didn’t make it great. The story was good and heart warming. I enjoy small town stories as I live in a small town. It was worth the listen, I just think it would have been better with a different narrator.
