What's a Dom to do? After he thanks her for giving him carte blanche, he hauls her ass up to the rodeo room for a ride. A ride that rapidly becomes a trip of epic proportions with kinky detours galore until they hit a fork in the road. One avenue leads to Jo's prized independence and the other leads home to Ted. Now, Jo must decide between the two.

Someone who just likes the hot scenes and doesn't care the hardened submissive whom the very experienced Dom finally broke through her shell to find the pain underneath...thinks all her emotional hang-ups will suddendly be fixed because he decrees it so. So if she stumbles at first under stress that is wrapped around her pain he doesn't understand how She could so betray him!!!
Please give that heroine a backbone and a tiny bit of real common sense! What's the biggest travesty? He,her Dom, tenderly helped her acknowlege what happened to her and how it has adversley effected her life since. And to himself realizes there must be more to the story she hasn't been able to discuss, yet. But starts a relationship with her that MUST be totally honest because of hang-ups from his past! Any wonder she couldn't become this paragon? Pushing the most trust driven relationship between a Dom/sub into emotional abuse!
I found no problems with the narrator.
I tried three times to finish this book but the charecters are so unbelievable, the angst levels running high throughout and the very real pain of innocents..I just wanted no part of a BDSM style book where the Dom has NO understanding of his sub. Insteads tries to break her so she'll go away.
The beginning was great! Fantastic surprises. A gruff Dom who's been hurt so now only trains subs but never enters a relationship. Discovers the beauty underneath a spitfire sub whom he gentles into her telling some of the betryal and pain which has been a part of her every breath since her 16th Birthday. then he forgets all he's learned as a sought after Dom of more than a decade forgets all he's learned about his new sub and reacts and lives only through the pain he suffered years ago that He never got over!! I can't say I'd trust this Author again if this is how she views a Dom/sub...all aspects of BDSM is about these levels of emotional abuse! This book WILL BE RETURNED.
I think the story would have been good, but the narrator was real real bad. would not recommend for this reason.
Good story line.
Not at all.
No. At least not the audio version. The story was okay but the narrator kept pausing at strange places in sentences where pauses don't belong. To be fair I haven't read the test version so I don't know, maybe it is poorly punctuated with commas in the wrong places but hearing it read like that was extremely annoying. It took away from the overall feel of the book.
Pretty accurate depiction how "BDSM lifestylers" who have money, but no 9-5 jobs, see themselves. Very good imagery and description delayed gratification, of pleasure-pain climaxes, and the phenomena of "sub/slave space" from sub's POV. Terrific character development of two main characters; I loved the realism of "Master's" personal struggle/flaw.
Loved reading how Ted delves into Jo's psyche, peeling away her superficial, yet protective psychological layers--the most difficult and most important aspect of a commited BDSM relationship. Helpful but not necessary to read series in order.
This is probably in my top 3 list of BDSM psychological and sexual books. Unfortunately, the narrator is not suited for this genre. She often reads the men's lines (commands) with a rise in her voice at the end of the statement, making it more of a question than statement or command. She does, however, deliver a wonderful performance of women's lines.
This book is well-researched, emotionally, psychologically, and sexually charged, and unlike a lot of "soccer-mom porn," it has a plausible plot. If hardcore, raw BDSM sexuality bothers you, read the gentler D/s book number 1 in the series. I will be looking for more books from this author! Finally, an author who knows her topic and realizes each D/s - BDSM relationship is as different as the people involved! Well done, Riley Murphy!
I liked the storyline, it had enough twists and turns to keep me interested.
The Sybian, of course. It figured prominently in the storyline, and didn't kiss and tell.
Kai and Wen, of course!~
When Jo made up her mind that she was no longer going to run from her problems and fell asleep in the hallway, it reminded me of Maggie Gyllenhall in Secretary.
As much as I disagree with BDSM as therapy, Riley handled it in a sensitive manner.
