Publisher's summary

The most grueling challenge of Raine Smith's equestrian career looms before her - the Olympic Games. Little does she realize that she's about to face greater perils in the arms of a stranger than she's ever found on the back of her horse.

Cord Elliott is a man trained to deflect disaster, and his mission is to ensure that Raine Smith remains untouched by sudden gunfire at the Summer Games. Yet from the moment Raines meets Cord's ice-blue glance, she knows he's more hazardous to her heart than a sniper's bullet. Falling for a man who answers to the call of intrigue and holds secrets that can never be shared is to endure the broken promises, unexplained absences, and constant danger that comes with his profession.

But in the fiery passion of irresistible love, a summer to remember seems worth every risk.

Long, drawn out story - cut it to 2 hrs!

This book should have been much, much much shorter. It seemed to go on and on with not much of a building storyline and a very slow romance.

I love Elizabeth Lowell's books, she's an automatic download author for me, but this one wasn't one of her best, it's a reissue of Summer Games published in 1984.

Buy it if you just have to have everything E.L. writes then go ahead - otherwise Forget Summer!!.

Great book in audio and/or ebook!

This book is one of her earlier books. I love it so much I listen to it every year. It's great and better on audio. The narrator's portrayal of the characters matches so well I can imagine it like it's a movie. I highly recommend it.

My Thoughts

I enjoyed the book.
I was a little taken aback my Caine's instant obsession with Rain and hers with him.
But as the story went on it all came together . I too fell for him so...lol.
It's a beautiful story and very detailed. I could picture everything!!!
The narrator had to grow on and she did.

A robot could have read this better.

I enjoyed READING this book, and looked forward to having the convenience of audio format. However I could NOT get through the first three chapters of narration for anything. Laurel Merlinton's interpretation of the male lead was beyond disappointing. Zero nuance for a man whose heart was closed off. Robotic. Gross. I returned it to Audible for credit. Hard pass.

Thank you!

Vividly written, and beautifully read. The scent and places she describes make you feel as if you are experiencing them rather than reading them. I lost myself in the book 3 times, reading and re reading again. Listening to the audiobook was such. a pleasure!
