Fallon has had a long and rough couple of years. She's ready now to work on putting the past behind her and focus on putting her life back together. A trip to see her best friend to hang out and create some new happy memories seems just the way to start off her new life. However, the first person she meets is Reid Snow, who threatens her peace of mind. Fallon does everything to resist his bad boy charm. The last thing she needs is someone else bringing drama into her life. But, when tragedy strikes Reid is the one who she turns to.
Reid Snow has gone from an unknown to a well-known. He never had a problem in the female department until he's taken in by a gold digger who is after more than just his good looks. Before becoming a well-known actor, women always wanted him for himself. Determined not to be suckered again, he finds himself extremely attracted to his the best friend of his best friend's sister. The only problem is, he's not interested in anything more than casual hook-ups. But, even if Fallon would give him the time of day, which she doesn't seem inclined to do, starting something with her could jeopardize his friendship with his best friend.

I love a story where I can laugh as well as cry and this story did it for me. The characters are real and Jaime Lamchick did a great job as narrator. Will look for other books written by Maria Josephs and also others that are narrated by Jaime Lamchick.
I am addicted to books. Nothing makes me happier than crawling inside a good book.
It ranks up in the top 10 %
I love listening to books Jaime Lamchick narrates. She brings the characters to life and really helps you connect and identify with them.
Finding love when you lease expect it.
This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtsey of AudiobookBlast dot com.
Yes, I would definitely recommend this book to a friend. I find the author's writing style to be very engaging. The depth of the characters personalities make them very relatable.
I would compare the book Alexander Ranch, because it is written by the same author. Her writing style is very incomparable to another. She engages and connects you to the characters depicted in her novels.
In the introduction where the main character, Fallon is dealing with the emotional loss of her father is so well written. Her emotions are so raw and real, that you can feel how she is feeling. You can see yourself in her shoes, right in the beginning you connect with her.
--I was given this audiobook in return for an honest review.
I loved this book. A sweet romance, real life situations and good friends. The circumstance of Reid and Fallon's initial meeting just makes you laugh...and think of Reid as a total Playboy. But as the story unfolds and you find the depth of the man, the sadness Fallon carries, the way their relationship evolves, you can't help but love them both. I was extremely impressed with way Reid dealt with Fallon's scare, standing by her side through thick and thin. This book had some meat to it, making it not a fluffy romance, creating an enjoyable listen.
The narrator, Jamie Lamchick, did an outstanding job. This was the first book I have heard her do and she made the characters real and believable.
Yes I would listen to Reluctant again because the Author had you right there living this story. It was as if I could feel and see everything! She made her characters really realistic and the story held very little "fluff". A good, solid read. I couldn't put it down!
One of the most memorable moments of Reluctant for me was the moment Fallon realized she was in love with Reed. It was outrageously romantic.
Jaime Lamchick made every character come to life for me. She was able to change her voice to match each one. She is very talented.
This book made me laugh and cry at times. It is such a sweet love story but at the same time it tells of heart-breaking crisis almost one after the other.
The fact that this author has actually gone through the sadness she portrayed in the story broke my heart but at the same time I was so very proud of her ability to climb out of misery and grab life with gusto and triumph! Now that is a wonderful story!
This was a sweet and sad contemporary story. It's funny how Fallon pushes everyone away, but the ones closest to won't budge. But the over baring friends do get a bit annoying. I like that Reid was so determined to be by her side no matter what. I also loved the authors personal note at the end! Great narration!
I havent read the ebook so I cant compare.
What I can say is : I listened to other audioboks by Marla Josephs narrated by Jaime Lamchick and I enjoyedthem all.
The story has to be good. If the story isnt good, even the best narratpr will not be able to save it.
Reluctant has good characters, combines laufther, romance, love and seious issues like dealing with illness and losing close family members.
It all comes down to good writing and Marla delivers without fail.
I liked the slow build of the relationship between Fallon and Reid.
Fallon and Reid dont know each other and their first encounter is awkward (from Fallons POV at least). Reid thinks she is a fan looking for a hook up and Fallon can't wait to get away from him.
I love stories that feature a a hero chasing after the heroine, changing his ways and trying to convince her to give him a chance.
Reid had a tough time trying to convince Fallon not only because of his status as a promising actor, but also because of a recent personal loss.
I understood Fallons struggle with her feelings towards Reid, being in a relationship with a celebrity isn't easy and requires trust, communication, and strength. Fallon and Reid both made assumptions, that at times, set the relationship back.
I loved seeing the relationship evolve.
A good narrator brings the story and characters to life, and Jamie did just that.
This summer, watch the most Reluctant people find happiness and an HEA.
If you enjoy a well told story, strong heroine (a must for me), loveable, sweet hero, good secondary characters, some angst and an HEA , Reluctant is the book for you.
Chicklit grieving romance
I love the way the characters grow and learn from each other while still remaining individuals. They all support each other and yet let each other be their own person.
The hospital waiting room
This whole book was a rollercoaster of emotional highs and lows. I think the homecoming scene was the most poignant and uplifting though :)
This series must be read in order. This is the first book. I can't wait to listen to Forbidden!
Fallon has spent the past two years of her life helping her exMarine father fight cancer. The last year of which she pretty much was just taking care of him and helping him die.with dignity. She has nothing left to give. Shelton (her pseudo brother/cousin) won't let her be alone now that her father is gone. And neither will her adopted brother and sister Nick and Alexa... So she has finally caved to pressure and is taking a trip to stay with them for the foreseeable future. She can take care of herself! But with the grief from losing her father and whatever this stomach thing she has going on... She is tired of fighting. Finding a sexy as sin man servicing a woman on the kitchen counter in Alexa's house is soo not what she signed up for! Who is he? Why is he there? Why won't he leave? Why does he look so familiar?
Doing Nick a favor and stocking Alexa's house with food for her imminent guest seems like the perfect time to have a little harmless fun with one of his groupie girls. That way she can't find him later. And it has been quite a while. After Reid's last relationship turned out to be with a heartless lossdigger he is not looking for anything but casual sex with a woman who wants nothing else. But he also doesn't want any surprises! Seeing Fallon, he at first thinks she is some groupie who has followed him. Too bad he's totally wrong... And totally intrigued! She is the last person he could ever have something casual with, being part of the family! Why is he so drawn to her? Can he resist their mutual attraction? Should he even try? Why does she have such a hold over him? Why is she so determined to not give them a chance?
***This series is suitable for adult readers who enjoy chicklit contemporary romances with a poignant back story and an uplifting message of healing after loss as well as strong independent people learning how to be everything to each other while still remaining themselves and part of a loving cohesive group :)
this is a story about Fallon and Reid.
Fallon goes to Alexa's house to get some work done. She interrupts a man, Reid, and a woman on the table at Alexa's house, where nobody was supposed to be.
Reid is an actor that is best friends with Nick, Alexa's brother. He was supposed to greet Fallon at Alexa's house, but he didn't know she was going to be early.
Fallon doesn't like Reid, but he keeps going over and bothering her that he grows on her. They start hanging out and reside to become "buddies" because he "didn't have time for a relationship".
The story is pretty fantastic, and I enjoyed it immensely! Marla Josephs is an awesome author, and the narrator, Jamie Lamchick, is amazing! I hope to be able to both read and listen to their books in the future.
I received a free copy for an honest review, which I have given, by either the author, narrator, or publisher via Audiobookblast·com
