Before it was adapted into a Netflix show, Virgin River was a series of more than 20 novels by New York Times best-selling author Robyn Carr. The audiobooks, all read by Audie Award-winning narrator Thérèse Plummer, are well-loved by a wide audience. The series takes place in Virgin River and revolves around new resident Melinda Monroe, a nurse practitioner and midwife. There's more to this sleepy town than first appearances suggest.

Ever feel like you are repeating yourself??

Robyn, you did it again. Once again I am sleep deprived! You wrote another
awesome book! I love the direction you take with your characters and story lines. This one includes a Harley Riding/Child TV star and a Multi-tasking parent to 5 year old boys! If you love the Virgin River Novels then this is one of the best (I think I say that about all of them)

Lots of Sweet Romance....

I love a romance that show values and standards...

Another solid addition to the Virgin River series. I liked how the romance between Katie and Dylan developed. I really liked Katie. She was a mother that put her kids as priority. She showed she had standards, values and wasn't willing to settle for a little attention. As female characters go this has been one of my favorites of the series (behind Mel of course). My issue here was Dylan. His character and the plot points surrounding him where quite implausible. A former child star that has been away from Hollywood for over 10 years and he gets a movie deal just by asking? Are you kidding me? And then he was a famous child star and his grandma is uber rich and yet he is almost broke? His business is failing and yet he goes away to VR for a month? No decent business man does that. And he survived being mauled by a bear with no significant injuries. I don't know. I guess you should just take the story as it is and enjoy the romance without rationalizing it.

Narration: Therese Plummer is just the best. No other narrator makes such distinct voices for each character. Even her characterization of the twins is wonderful. She is the type of narrator that enhances a story by adding life and believable feelings to the story.

Better story than the last few

Maybe I was in the mood for this but this storyline appealed to me more than the last few I have purchased. But it is a series so it doesn't stray too far from the original story. If you collect Virgin River Series you will probably enjoy this one also. Robyn I believe you can do more with these. It does irritate me that this is formula reading. That having been said I am a collector so I collected one more of the collection but after the first three or so I do not remember the difference between the books. The dialog is just too repetitive. I believe you can do better.

New series on the way ??

Would you listen to Redwood Bend again? Why?

I would listen to this over and over only because now I am intrigued as to if Ms Carr plans on a Montana Series... I hope so... The hero in this story is unlike her usual suspects that either live in or migrate to Virgin River. With the branching out into another state, it definately holds possiblities-- Would love to see Adele's story written there. An over 80-ish aging actress, Romance is wonderful because it crosses the lines.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Redwood Bend?

I love the line:

Which scene was your favorite?

When she threw up in the plane, I had to laugh.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes.

Love is more important than fame

Would you consider the audio edition of Redwood Bend to be better than the print version?

No it is not better then the printed version, but it is very complantary to the book. When the story is good and the narrator is wonderful to listen to, then a wonderful experience occurs when I listen to the audiobook and read the book at the same time.

What did you like best about this story?

I always love it when we get updates on other characters from other books

What about Therese Plummer’s performance did you like?

I love Plummer's performance; she make the story both heart warming and serious whenever it is needed.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Sometimes I will listen to a story all the way through, but this series is better when I take parts at a time.

Any additional comments?

One of my favorite series.

I want to live in Vigin River

If you could sum up Redwood Bend in three words, what would they be?

Never Give Up

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jack always seems to bring the whole community together but in this particular book it had to be Walt, "one big scary dude", who broke all the stereotypes.

What does Therese Plummer bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I been listening to Therese Plummer read "Virgin River" to me from the very beginning. So, to me, she IS the voice of these people. Before I was forced to rely on audiobooks only, I read all the time but I get three times more out of the books from listening to them now. Therese is an exceptional reader. She makes every character unique and alive in their own way. Sometimes you can tell by the change in her breathing which character is coming up next. (not to say that it is distracting tho)

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Both laughter and crying along with the warm and fuzzies.

Any additional comments?

Robyn Carr has a wonderful sense of community in her creation of Virgin River and it's residents. I search her name all the time now to see what else she has written and eagerly await the next book. I also do the same with Therese Plummer to see what else see has been involved in.

I think this would be #3 in the top 3 of the series

Book 1,2 and this one. I really liked it. More wholesome, less centered all around sex, more on the person themselves, learning what is really important in life, facing fears and challenges & sharing truths being honest and values.
