Publisher's summary

Of all the dukes in England, Jered Marcus Benton, the Duke of Bradford, was the wealthiest, most handsome - and most arrogant. And of all London’s ladies, he wanted the tender obedience of only one: Caroline Richmond.

She was a ravishing beauty from Boston, with a mysterious past and a fiery spirit. Drawn to the powerful duke, undeterred by his presumptuous airs, Caroline was determined to win his lasting love. But Bradford would bend to no woman - until a deadly intrigue drew them enticingly close. Now, united against a common enemy, they would discover the power of the magnificent attraction that brought them together…a desire born in danger, but destined to flame into love!

Narrator is bad

I loved Julie Garwood back when I was in my 20's so I don't know if this book didn't age well or the narrator ruined it for me. All I know is that skipped most if it because of the narration. Maybe I need to read her physical book again.

Meh

the narrator was just not hitting the spot for me and the story was underwhelming.

Enjoyable Listen

I liked this book and the fact that it wasn't predictable as most of these types of books are. However the intimate scenes between to main characters could have been a bit more erotic or at the very least a bit more descriptive. I'm fond of some of Anne Flosnok narrations but in this book she she did a good job of the reading.

Good story

I really like the story, but for me, getting around Anne Flosnik's voice and accent were tough. I love a good English accent, but something about her's made it difficult for me to really immerse myself in the story and get a good visual of the characters. I may be interested to hear it read by someone else.

Best Author

I have read all of her books several times and can never tire of them. She takes you into the time of the book and you feel as if you are there in the story.

Cookie cutter !$&@!!

I almost was positively positive that I'd be disappointed but I was so elated at having found an unread Julie Garwood Historical era book, I ignored the misgiving and plunked down my credit. I was disappointed. But I'm spoiled after having read and listened to Ransom, The Secret, Shadow Music, and Lions Lady. After those "10's", Rebellious Desire was assembly line quality. But it still has the ability to make a dripping , snowy afternoon better.

Wonderful beginning

Any additional comments?

The beginning where the H and H meet is very funny. The plot is interesting. It is a good book, but not great. Julie Garwood has written some books that are much better (Honor's Splendor, The Gift, The Bride). I like Anne Flosnik as a narrator. I don't understand the problem some of the reviewers have with her, but everyone has different taste.

Unique Plot Absolutely Fantastic Listen

What made the experience of listening to Rebellious Desire the most enjoyable?

The premise! I really enjoyed the ladies raised in The Colonies of early America moving in the different circles of England!

The humor woven through is truly enchanting and giggle worthy at times. LOVE!

What aspect of Anne Flosnik’s performance would you have changed?

Anne Flosnik's Boston accent was dreadful. Her performance is borderline tedious and after a bit had to change listening speed to 1.25x

Any additional comments?

I was surprised at the whit incorporated in this book, making it enjoyable in so many ways. Historical, sexy romance, action and humorous.

Voice is horrible

I'm sorry but the lady doing the voice distracted me to no end. I couldn't stand it. It was like nails to a chalkboard for me. All the voices were deep and manly sounding. It was just ridiculous. As for the book itself. I've read it before and enjoyed it. I enjoy all of Julie Garwood's books. She should have stuck with the same woman who recorded The Secret and Ransom. She was great.

I really didn't enjoy this book.

I have read a number of Ms. Garwood's books and really enjoyed them. This one was not very good in my opinion.
The heroine was said to be strong but her behaviour seemed weak and needy. The hero was a harsh bully. I cringed through many of the exchanges. I will not read this again; it insults my sensitivities as a woman.
