Publisher's summary

Of all the dukes in England, Jered Marcus Benton, the Duke of Bradford, was the wealthiest, most handsome - and most arrogant. And of all London’s ladies, he wanted the tender obedience of only one: Caroline Richmond.

She was a ravishing beauty from Boston, with a mysterious past and a fiery spirit. Drawn to the powerful duke, undeterred by his presumptuous airs, Caroline was determined to win his lasting love. But Bradford would bend to no woman - until a deadly intrigue drew them enticingly close. Now, united against a common enemy, they would discover the power of the magnificent attraction that brought them together…a desire born in danger, but destined to flame into love!

Quite wonderful.

What made the experience of listening to Rebellious Desire the most enjoyable?

First of all I LIKE very much Anne Flosnik's narration. I really don't know what all the fuss and complaining is about with the other reviews. I have listened to her a lot on Amanda Quick and Mary Balogh novels on tape and CD

Any additional comments?

I thought this was a great book. It was written in 1991 which, in my opinion better written,
before the historical novels became too modern day. In other words they put 21st century
characters back two centuries and expect it to be believable.

I liked Lady Carolyn and Lord Bradford. Of course, being a Duke, he was arrogrant and controlling, but in the end she brought him around.

Good read.

*frowny face*

It's hard to believe that I've found a Julie Garwood HR that I didn't abso-freaking-lutely love. I liked it okay, but...it all boils down to Bradford. He was a giant douche. The end.

Good Story average narration

Love Garwood, have been a happy fan of her work for a number of years.
Unfortunatly the whispered and odd emphasis on the sound 'hhhhhh' truely irritating.

ok

I finally bought this audio book . Wondering why I hadn't bought it sooner. I read it a long time ago. It was the narrator Anne Flosnik. She isn't my favorite. Half the time her characters voices are whiny and nasally. Unfortunately she narrates quite a few of Julie Garwood's books. With that said, "Rebellious Desire" is a historical romance set in England . The Duke of Bradford is a jerk with LOTS of trust issues and ALL women want 2 things. At first Caroline shows to be a strong and gentle women and then she meets Bradford. Her cousin Charity is a too talkative ding-bat.I wanted to tell her to shut up several times. There's lots of dialogue and laugh out loud moments in this audio. IMO this isn't one of Julie Garwood's better books. I probably will not listen to again . 😔

Not one of my favorite Julie Garwood books

JG is one of my favorite authors but this story was not. The main characters both had such promise in the beginning. The story moved a bit slow for me after the first few chapters. I definitely struggled to finish this one but I think that had more to do with the narrator's voice. The emotions the characters were feeling were not the emotions the narrator gave them. 😔

Worth the credit

I have read (or listened to) all the historic Garwood novels and no two are alike. Her descriptions are vivid and you are transported. Her men always start as beast but with the right women end up not as pussy cats but tamed lions. The women are smart, witty and strong. The plot keeps moving and the narrator is wonderful. Many good qualities and a welcome ending.

Good author,narrator?

Very good book. Narrator voice was somewhat hokey to me.. Little overdone when her voice trails off at the end of phrases at times.

1st Julie Garwood book I ever read Fan ever since

This is the first Julie Garwood book I had the pleasure of reading. The characters are so strong and the plot is entertaining. I needed more. Have since purchased 90%of her books in audio format, both historical and modern day. LOVE THEM! Recently introduced my 86 year old mother to her books. She loved them, and she is not normally a romance reader.
