Publisher's summary

Sasha.

He's dark and mysterious. Quiet and lethal.

An Irish mobster.

Pure sin wrapped up in a beautiful package.

But there's also something off about him.

He doesn't feel anything. He shows no emotions.

Sometimes, I question his humanity.

He hasn't spoken to me in two years. Not a single word.

But we share a secret, he and I.

And if it ever comes out, I have no doubt in my mind....

He won't have a problem killing me, too.

Ronan.

I've slain for her. I'll do it again.

When it comes to Sasha, there isn't a line I won't cross.

I watch her. She doesn't know it.

She thinks I hate her. Sometimes, I think I might, too.

But I'm always there, lurking in the shadows.

Craving her. Trying to keep the beast within at bay.

I'll keep her safe. I'll slaughter anyone who tries to hurt her.

The only thing I can't do...is protect her from myself.

This is a full-length standalone novel full of hot Irish guys with accents. Dark mafia themes throughout. HEA included.

5 Reaper Stars

Five things I loved about this book.
One: “Aye”
Two: Diapers
Three: Condoms
Four: Daisy
Five: Ronan

I enjoyed book 1 but I LOVED book 2. I loved the way Tracy narrated this book I felt a part of it.

I felt so much pain and sorrow for Ronan and everything he had to go through. Sure he is different but really wouldn’t anyone be after how he was raised. I am actually surprised he was more messed up.

I heart how Sasha brought him to life. Because let’s be honest he really wasn’t really living.
But in his own way he saved Sasha too. It was like magnets and I loved how fiercely loyal they were to each other.

Respect, loyalty, respect, protection and love this book has all of these in abundance. I can’t say enough great things about this book worth reading yes, yes, 10x’s yes.

Intense, Raw, Gritty ~ Zavarelli Does It Again!

I love A. Zavarelli ability to write heart-wrenching stories built on the foundation of characters who have suffered loss, tragedies, abuse, and weave a tale that transforms the story into something powerful and beautiful. The stories she writes will speak to your heart, and stick with you well after you've listened to them.

The characters are complex, deep and scarred. Ronan, know in Boston's underworld as the "Reaper", is a trained assassin who's full of rage. He struggles to overcome his brutal past and the harsh training he endured. While he may be a killer to his very core, his heart belongs to Sasha. He's fiercely protective of her, even if he doesn't understand all the emotions she evokes in him.

Sasha's character is strong, and vulnerable. She has "quirks" which she uses as a coping mechanism for stressful situations but they border on OCD. She's facing a heart breaking loss, which has her emotions on edge. When Ronan's protective instincts force him to take action, he inserts himself in her life, and comes up with a plan to ensure she stays with him.

These characters had their ups and downs, and I enjoyed watching their journey bring them closer together. From the tender moments, to the explosive outburst, to the steamy love scenes, their story was awesome. I loved how Sasha and Ronan turned to Crow and Mac for support.

Tracy Marks performance was fantastic, and really brought me into the story. She projects the character's emotions perfectly, and you can feel the angst, worry, happiness etc. In addition, she gives each character their own voice, and you can easily distinguish between them. Crows Irish accent is still one of my favorites! Great job!

I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. This story is absolutely, positively worth a credit, and the time invested in listening to the stories.

Tragic Doesn't Even Do Him Justice

A Perfect follow up to Crow.
Ronan Fitzpatrick is the Dreaded Reaper. Criminals in the underground world of Boston quake in their boots hearing his name. And rightly so. He is a methodical, unemotional killing machine. Hacking his enemies bit by bit or torturing them to extract information is all in his day's work. His training at the hand of the Irish Rebels, when he was a child, has hardened his heart to steel and his body to iron. He doesn't feel a thing for his 'jobs'

There is an endless amount of rage burning inside of me. I only ever have to tap into it, drawing off small amounts to complete each task I’m given. It is nothing more than a business transaction. A dot of the i or slash of the t. I don’t particularly feel much of anything when I dim a human light. I’ve been called a sociopath. A monster. But I don’t fancy myself one. I’m simply a man doing a job that needs to be done. If it wasn’t me doing it, someone else would be. The men that I kill, they’ve all had it coming. They knew what they were getting themselves into.

In this club Slainte, works a stripper, Sasha. She's kind and sweet and Ronan is hooked on her. He protects her with his life, literally after rescuing her from Blain and Donovan.
Ronan is a rare specimen. His childhood trauma has left him to be sociopath. His connection between his heart and brain has severed. So much so that he cannot formulate thoughts, cannot gauge their intensity or depth, cannot direct his actions based on them. He's silent, detached and isolated.
But he loves Sasha. Only he doesn't know it as yet that it is love.
Tragic events bring them together and he protects and loves her with an intensity that takes them both by surprise. She hugs him so hard that pieces of his broken heart start to glue together.
It's a strange love story of a hardened man and broken girl who have nothing else to do but love each other and start to build a life in the strangely pucked up world of The Syndicate!

At times the book is a bit violent and gruesome but I could not stop listening. I hope there is more of the series to come.

This audio-book was provided free of charge in exchange for my honest unbiased opinion.

Tracy Marks was very good with the delivery of the story

I JUST CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF THIS RIVETING SERIES

Ashleigh Zavarelli continues her raw, gritty, emotional and intense journey into the dangerous world of Boston's Underworld with the Irish Mafia. This story overlaps the last few Chapters of Book 1 where we already met the helpless and abused Sasha and also the emotionally closed off Ronan as their unspoken attraction to each other sizzled, intensified and waited to be ignited.

Ronan is an unsociable closed book but in flashbacks you hear about the cruel and torturous brainwashing he endured from aged 8 onwards and you understand why and how he became The cold-blooded Reaper. And his story is so sad and touching because he feels so deeply for Sasha but is totally incapable of showing it because he lacks the knowledge, social skills and experience necessary to express how he feels. He only knows pain... how to inflict it and how to endure it and he's sure he doesn't deserve someone with such a sweet heart as Sasha. But when her life is threatened by one of the Russians Ronan's protective side takes over... as well as his possessive, sexy, passionate and dangerous side too. Sasha was ready to say goodbye to everyone... however, the more she got to know Ronan, the more deeply she fell.... until it was too late to walk away.

I love this dark and thrilling series as well as the flawed and deadly characters who inhabit this villainous world... a world of Alpha men, suspense, secrets, alliances, rules, brotherhood, sex and danger. When these men love they would die to protect you, risk everything to save you and demand your loyalty. Ronan is such a likeable, funny and warm-hearted Hero and Sasha has been through Hell but remains a loving and kind-hearted Heroine. There's some very tender and touching moments.. as well as some hot and heavy ones too. In this story Lachlan and Mack remain an integral part of both the action and the Irish Syndicate. Dual POV's and Tracy Marks was awesome at bringing to life each addictive and action-packed Chapter.

Worth a credit? There's absolutely no hesitation in my mind when I answer this question with a big fat YES.

Reaper: Boston Underworld, Book 2

If you could sum up Reaper in three words, what would they be?

Intense, gritty, real.

Ronan and Sasha's book was every bit intense as Crow (Book #1 in the Boston Underworld series).

Who was your favorite character and why?

Ronan works for the Irish Mafia in Boston.

He wears suits and glasses and may look like a business man but is actually quite deadly. As the name suggests, he reaps life.

Ronan is an intense character. He speaks little, does what Crow asks of him and always, always he watches Sasha.

Sasha works as a dancer in a club run by the mafia.

She and Ronan have very little but have an intense connection. They share secrets that can hurt them and an attraction neither of them want, but can't deny.

It was agonizing reading about Ronan and Sasha wanting each other but staying away from one another. You could see the love and the hate as they both fought their emotions.

But in the end, they had to give in to what they were feeling and what a glorious scene that was!!

I love a book with strong female characters and Sasha is that. She did what she had to do to support her mother and survive. Some might look at it as taking the easy way out, but Sasha's life is anything but easy.

She knows the world she was pulled into, she plays by the rules, she doesn’t really believe in HEA but still thinks about Ronan, he is the one person that grounds her.

I loved that about both Ronan and Sasha, they had each other, even when they weren’t together. The presence of the other person was enough to get them thought.

They were both such complex and damaged persons, no one deserved an HEA more than they did.

After all the drama and heartache (A. Zavarelli broke my heart, but she does that with each book) the conclusion to the story and epilogue especially were magnificent.

Any additional comments?

If you love Mafia romance with lots of action, drama, strong heroine and a virgin alpha male who protects his loved ones at all costs, this is the book for you.

Another 5 star read from A. Zavarelli.

The narration is top notch: yet again Tracy Marks delivers a great performance.

She had to narrate a wide range of characters and accents in this action packed book and managed to make each voice unique.

I wish the Reaper would come for me! Fantastic 5* listen

Good God almighty I want to squeeze Ronan! I never thought I'd ever say that. I didn't think I would like his story as much as Crow, but I honestly loved it so much more! Such a great story, with great narration. Definitely a 5 star listen!!!

Another Amazing Addition to the Boston Underworld!

I love Crow, hard, but I have to admit Ronan completely stole my heart. There are few books that have made me grieve so much for the hero, be terrified of them, and wish for them to get their HEA so badly. Ashleigh Zavarelli's writing is absolutely stunning. Her novels aren't for the faint of heart, but like other great dark romance authors, they take your breath away on every level.

The audio is performed beautifully by Tracy Marks for both male and female characters which is always a challenge. Her performance is top notch as usual. The Boston Underworld series by Ashleigh Zavarelli narrated by Tracy Marks is definitely a must buy for me. Now the countdown to Ghost!

An Irish Mafia Underboss with a hear!! Love it!!

Would you listen to Reaper again? Why?

YES, of course this book is so good and the narration is great. I just fell in love with Ronan and Sasha is book 1 so I am so happy to see them together and well I won't give the story away!!

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene doesn't exist the book just flowed well. I did like the scene with Ronan and his new dog where he says her name is Dog..it was funny. I also loved the "We need a baby" scene and they are trying to figure out the pamper..funny. Overall I just loved this book.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did but had to finish it in 2 days..ugh.

Any additional comments?

I was given this book in return for unbiased honest opinion. This book really is a great story and although it was hot, this book offers so much more. It is just a well written story with a great narrator that does a hell of a good Irish accent. LOVED IT!!

What a story! Must Read/Listen

What made the experience of listening to Reaper the most enjoyable?

Where do you begin when a book has completely captivated you in every way possible? This was an amazing story. Thrilling, heart-stopping and jaw-dropping Mafia book. There were moments you can't help but crack up laughing and other times you just want to hug Ronan and tell him it will be okay.

The Author does a phenomenal job capturing the emotions in this story. You truly feel as though you're right there watching as the story unfolds. I've never experienced a book like this one. And it's absolutely an unforgettable one.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Several!

The Irish Mob are a wee bit scary

Wow!! Well, that was an interesting experience. The Irish Mob sure do look a wee bit different to the Irish mob of blokes I’ve met up till now. My encounters with anyone from Ireland so far includes the “to be sure, to be sure” variety, not the “I’ll blow your bleedin brains” type. I’ve even been to Ireland and stayed in a relative’s rundown castle (which was bloody cold) and managed to avoid any scary types. The scariest things I experienced in Ireland was their driving and maybe overdosing on potatoes. Fried potatoes for breakfast, chips for lunch and roast potatoes for dinner. I like potatoes, but not to eat them at breakfast lunch and dinner. So, to meet the mob and see this side of Ireland was a real eye-opener.

The audio of Reaper was everything I thought it would be and more. I was sitting on the train listening to some pretty horrific scenes practically hunched up in a ball. I was seriously freaked out to the extent that I was looking around waiting for a knife or gun to be pulled out by someone around me. The narrator, Tracy Marks, does an awesome job of grabbing your attention and making you feel like you’re part of the scene. I think I was mostly affected by the violence more than anything. The sexy times were frequent but to be honest, listening to them on audio is way different to reading them. For one, I don’t normally have an audience when I start to get twitchy. Secondly, I’m still convinced everyone around me can overhear it, so I’m forever turning the volume up and down depending on the level of profanity. When it comes to the accents, I felt that the narrator did a really good job. It’s hard enough to do accents let alone change from a male to a female character. I’m adding Tracy Marks to my favourite narrator's list. Not necessarily for her voice but because she brings emotion and feeling to the characters that other narrators just can’t do as well.

Storyline…I knew after reading Crow that this book was going to be very, very interesting. Poor bloody Ronan. That man…I just wanted…I just needed to give him a hug. The horrors he faced and lived through were unbelievable. No child should have seen let alone lived through that. It bloody scares me that children are used in this way, but then again we know, not just in Ireland but worldwide there are children being used and abused. I’m glad that Ronan and his Mum were there for him in the end.

I really want to think that this is all from the author’s imagination, but to some extent, I could imagine it to be real. Even though I mentioned I’ve only met the “to be sure, to be sure” Irish, I know there are the “I’ll blow your bleedin brains” too. I remember the news reports of bombings and violent protests. We heard U2 sing about Sunday, bloody Sunday and saw movies like In The Name of the Father. Innocent people die and there’s always the wrongly accused fighting to be heard. So, I knew that Ireland isn’t just four leaf clovers and leprechauns, but it still shocked me to see this side of Ireland.

Sasha has had a hard life. Her mother is dying of cancer and she’s the only one available to financially support her. Sasha’s dad is dead and her sister is in another state studying. Sasha doesn’t want this life for her sister so tries to shield her as much as possible. Look, I felt sorry for Sasha, but I definitely felt that she brought some of her problems on herself. Yes, I’m quick to judge, but she seemed to just keep falling into the same traps over and over again.

The relationship between Ronan and Sasha is a little strange. Ronan is obsessed with her and even though Sasha knows it, she doesn’t know the extent he has gone to and will go to, to protect her. It’s a little…no, probably more accurate to say a lot unhealthy the way the relationship starts, but you always know there’s something different about Ronan. Ronan’s past has made him unable to have normal relationships. He doesn’t recognise love, is uncomfortable being touched and generally only knows violence. Sasha knows all of this but refuses to see just this. She wants what’s underneath. She wants to push past his vulnerable shell and bring him out just for her. Ronan does eventually come out of his shell…just because it’s what Sasha wants.

I really enjoyed the audio of Reaper. The author drags you into the seedier, violent side of the Boston Underworld and takes you for a ride. This series is awesome and I can’t wait to meet more of these crazy Irish Mobsters.
