I Wanted To Love This Book

Maybe I just expected too much because of the reviews. To sum up how I feel right now I will say this........
STOP with the FEELINGS already! So I read only one bad review about this book and in summary it basically said they wanted more substance to the relationship and it was all really about sex.......so my first thought was "sign me up" Reviews like that are EXACTLY why I buy books (so sluty of me I know) However, what that reader really meant to say was less feelings and MORE talking! I don't understand why authors write a book from 1st person POV yet the main character pretty much narrates the entire book and lets us know a MILLION times every time she takes a deep breath, has a shiver, goose bumps, she is wet ect.
Nobody in this books talks. Any time any character in this book asked a question the author wrote 5-6 paragraphs about the main character's feelings towards him and what her answer will be.
Why I still gave this book 3 stars because the main character did have a good sense of humor and when the book got steamy (finally at 55%) it really got steamy! It was also a well written book for people who like Narrative books and LOTS and LOTS of feeling. The plot was also really good!
I still think it's worth reading if you can get past the things I have listed. I never want to steer anyone away from buying a book, its just one person's opinion. I will listen the next book in the series. The Narrator did a good job with the delivery of the story.

I got nervous at times, laughed at others .....

Ugh narrator

Since I listened, there's no way for me to know (without actually reading it) whether this is one of those poorly written books with lots of errors (like subject/verb agreement), or if the narrator just changed a few words here and there to make it wrong, but it was bugging me. Besides that, much of the time, her voice was just so monotone. The story itself was pretty predictable, and I don't plan to continue the series after this one. It was on my TBR for a really long time, so I guess I'm glad I know now, but I didn't get out of this what many others apparently have. No biggie.

REMY & BROOKE--EPIC, FREAKEN AMAZING ROMANCE!!!!

I had read references to Remy in various reviews in the past, but I really didn't know much about this series or Remy's story. So, when I finally got in emersed in Remy (Remington Tate) & Brooke Dumas' story for myself, I was stunned with the beauty, intensity, suffering, and passion that this epic romance ushers in--SIMPLY BLOWN AWAY!!!

Oh my goodness, this woman Katy Evans can write!!! Seriously, she is brilliant. There was never a moment where I had to shut off my brain to implausibilities in order to enjoy the story. I have not read/listened to a romance of this proportion is a while. She writes amazing fight scenes, and has created two interesting characters with a crew of secondary characters that will grab your heart and mind.

Everything is epic about the connection between Remy and Brooke. From the way, Remy pushes through the throng of people to get to Brooke when they first met in an underground fighting match to the way he finds a place for her in his crew simply to be close to her was S-E-N-S-A-T-I-O-N-A-L!!!! Remy is dominant, alpha, and hot underground fighter who women croon over because he embodies confidence, strength, and he is one powerful fighter….in fact, he's the best fighter around! When Brooke met Remy, it was because her fun and wild friend Melanie had dragged her down to watch an underground fight (which was so out of her element, at the time). Brooke is classy, beautiful and she's an athlete as well. Once she was an olympic contender, as a runner, before a terrible injury took away that dream. She then went to college and specialized in sports rehab. There is something about Brooke that captures Remy's attention while he's about to begin his fight, in the midst of hundreds of women shrieking for him…yet he sees Brooke….. and the rest of this story is made of legend……

In this love story you will find sweet moments that will melt your heart. You will fall in love with Remy, this gorgeous, beautiful man inside and out. He has a personal struggle that when revealed will just draw you in as you also want to see the best for both Remy and Brooke. I knew this story was going to twist my heart, when Brooke agrees to work for Remy and first enters his private plane. Remy asks her to sit near him. Now their body language and nonverbal communication with one another had been freaken hot and sizzling, but when they finally talk to one another and Remy it's evident they have perfect compatibility. One way Remy communicates with Brooke is by sharing music. When he has her hear the song, "I'd Give Up Forever to Touch You (Goo goo Dolls)" and "Love Bites (Deff Leopard)"----HE KILLED ME….K-I-L-L-E-D ME!!! Remy shot to my top list of MMA fighter hotties. In fact, he obliterated my mental list of favorite MMA fighters. This story will pound your heart, have you holding on to the ropes with a knockout kind of love. Yes, it's that amazing and REAL!!!

Entertaining, but unREAListic!

I dug the story line, and based on the reviews was excited to begin. While I wasn't exactly looking for a deep-dive into the bi-polar condition, I anticipated the author would display a bit more subject matter knowledge. I found I wasn't able to engage to the extent I needed to be able to in order fully enjoy the story. While hot and packed with drama, I wanted more in respect to character relationship development. I never completely understood many of the characters actions, or the feelings that drove them to react to situations in the way that they did. While this story was ok, it just didn't quite do it for me. If I'm being honest, I almost didn't care enough to complete the last couple of chapters. That said, Charlotte Penfield knows her craft, and I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another narration from her.

So-so

Liked the storyline ok, liked the characters ok, but somehow it just fell flat for me. Brooke was too internally whiney and needy, although that could just have been the narrator.

Intersting Story

Brooke Dumas is a athlete rehab specialist who used to be a former athlete herself. She was on her way to being an Omplyian when she broke her knee during the trials. She lost her dream and has been lost ever since. One night her best friend invites her to an underground fighting match where she gets her first glimpse of Remington "Riptide" Tate. He is a goregous, sexy, dominant guy who she is instantly attracted to. There is this chemistry that sparks between the two of them from just one look across the ring. Little does Brooke know that the one look would transform her life forever.

I liked this story but I am only giving it 3.5 stars because I felt Brooke could be a little whiny and selfish at times. The fact that she falls in love with Remington and you don't really even hear him say much until halfway through the book. Remington has issues and wants to take their relationship slowly but Brooke gets pushy and then gets hurt later down the road. I felt that I knew Brooke really well but not Remington. I am looking forward to continuing this series to see how everything works out between them. I listened to this on audio book and I liked the narrator.

I give this story 3.5 stars.
