Publisher's summary

Magnus is a man of contradictions - a spiritual leader in a warrior's body. To him, laws are for enforcing and visions must be followed - even if that means freeing a beautiful slave and making her his reluctant handmaiden. Betrayed once before, Magnus can barely bring himself to trust another woman. Yet Daenaira's fiery innocence is drawing them both into a reckless inferno of desire. Daenaira grew up hearing tales of a fearsome priest who seemed more myth than reality. But Magnus is very real - every inch of him - and so is the treachery surrounding them. Beneath Sanctuary's calm surface, an enemy is scheming to unleash havoc on the Shadowdwellers, unless Magnus trusts in a union ordained by fate, and sealed by unending bliss.

Critic reviews

"The steamy passion Frank is known for takes on an educational edge as the abused heroine discovers her powers. The spicy sex is punctuated with deadly danger, making this one hot [listen]." ( Romantic Times)

Hot, captivating, and thralling

Book one was OK, but book 2, to me, had a lot more excitement. Just a lot more…everything. The author goes beyond normal limits. Now I have to check out what happens next.

HOLY SANCTUARY !!

Would you consider the audio edition of Rapture to be better than the print version?

Don't know; did not read the print version. However, I really enjoyed this segment of the series. I was really glad to hear that the lives of the characters from the first book are continued and a very integral part of this book.

What did you like best about this story?

New drama; new characters; new romance. Loved Daenaira's character especially.

What does Kirsten Potter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Yes. I believe that Jacqueline Frank has an amazing imagination and in my humble opinion a magnificant novelist. Her characters are described through the drama, socialization of everyday life and the romance of each book. I like that the characters' personalities are so well defined and that they are all "human", even if they are "supernatural".

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Nothing. I love Kirsten Potter's narration, she is truly talented. I hope that J.F. will continue to use her as narrator and not switch to someone I have grown accustomed to.

Emotionally Satisfying

I love this world and the characters I had already come to know from the first book in the series. The narrator is incredible. It was so satisfying to experience this love growing between two people who were so loved starved and distrustful, but deserving of all the best.

Looking in Shadows for a Dweller

I wasn’t really sure if I wanted to purchase this book because of Ecstasy, the book before this in the series. It wasn’t that I didn’t like Ecstasy; it just dragged in places and didn’t get really good until half way through the book. But Rapture, ohh Rapture was excellent from the beginning. Daenaira is a strong, loyal, dedicated heroine that fights for everything that is right and just. Magnus is everything that I want my dominant men to be in a romance, strong, passionate, and willing to be vulnerable to their counterparts. The sex scenes in this book are tender and erotic at just the right moments, especially the first time Daenaira and Magnus came together. That scene was almost heartbreakingly beautiful to me. Love Love Loved it!!!!

My girl Kristen, as always did a fantastic job. She is definitely in my top five of favorite narrators.

Wow: everything I love in a PNR all in one book!

How do I review this book when I love everything about it?

I love this series and I hope Ms. Frank continues to write more stories in this series. The romance is beautiful because Frank pairs the perfect individuals with each other. Magnus and Daenaira are extremely strong individuals, both can not be swayed easily.

Magnus is devout in his faith and his duty as a penance priest and the Sanctuary is his life's work. There is a traitor in the midst of his religious home and it's his responsibility to flush out the evil lurking in the shadows or suffer greater loss. After losing his handmaiden, he is told he must take a new one.

Daenaira has had an unfortunate existence. After living for many years as the slave of her uncle and aunt she is sold into a life she has only heard stories about. She has never given in easily and has fought tooth and nail even if the result is a brutal beating. She is apprehensive about her new life and views it as a prettier prison.

Magnus and Daenaira clash and when they do it's beautiful. She brings him to his knees, forcing him to view his role amongst his people in a different light. She shows him the flaws in his teachings while he shows her compassion, love, acceptance, and passion. They are perfect together, complimenting each other in every way. Their interactions are on fire and their romance is smoking hot. I could not put this book down! There are also other characters that we meet in the book that I'm eager to find out what happens to them and hope they have books of their own

Narrator: Kirsten Potter

Rapturous from beginning to the end

This is the absolute best book by Jacquelyn. The volcanic relationship between Dae and Magnus locks you in from the start, while being drawn into the chaos that is Sanctuary. The eroticism between the priest and his handmaiden is off the charts. The intriguing world of the Shadowdwellers will keep you wanting more. Kristen does a great job with the narration. Definitely worth the credit.
