Publisher's summary

Out of the wickedly inventive imagination of number-one New York Times best-selling author J.R. Ward comes a world where sin and salvation collide in a battle for the future of mankind - where a cynical fallen angel struggles against the seven deadly sins and a demon's lure over seven chosen souls....

Mels Carmichael, reporter for the Caldwell Courier Journal, gets the shock of her life when a man stumbles in front of her car outside the local cemetery. After the accident, his amnesia is just the kind of mystery she likes to solve, but she soon discovers they're in over their heads with his past. Over their heads with passion, too...

As shadows walk the line between reality and another realm, and her lover's memory begins to come back, the two of them learn that nothing is truly dead and buried. Especially when youre trapped in a no-holds-barred war between angels and demons. With a soul on the line, and Mels's heart at risk, what in Heaven - or in Hell - will it take to save them both?

THE ENVY: A NOVEL OF THE FALLEN ANGELS BOOK 3

It has been quite impactive of the reality of the fallen Angels novels. Here in the Envy the XOps leaders Matthias was giving another chance and opportunity to redeem himself. In the second book the angel Eddie was lost by his fellow Angels in the fight. In the present event Jim Heron had another opportunity also to complete the good work he has been in charge of with saving the souls. During the accident of Matthias and Mels Carmichael meeting at the hospital formally the earth moving for both set up things moving in motion. Melissa nature of work did came in handy in a way that it start to look like the most vital for of Matthias function and purposes. She had to play a part for the greater glory and helping to expose all functions of the organization of the XOPs. Into the lamb light and also for helping Matthias to discover completely who he was and deciding what next in his plan of actions. Matthias did choose right by exposing the secret to the reporter and press. Again, he was able to make the right choice by putting his life on the line for Jim Heron when time was right. Matthias was able to make the right choice because at that point no one was able to influence his decision. The reason was because Nigel was standing by keeping things as it should be without Devina using any of tricks. Matthias end up dying and going to heaven after all he was allowed to make a choice to live a good life. His second time around and Jim Heron was not happy at all because of Sissy Bartan allowed of left in hell when she was innocent and have lived a good life and done everything that is right. But yet still was left to continue to suffered in the hands of the devil and evil doing known as Devina. This book was a very good example of the power of God and the work of the angels it was also able to allow one to learn. And see the greater picture of all which is the will of the almighty God for us humility.

J R ward is my new favorite author.

I understand that I'm late to this whirlwind of a world. But amongst all the imagery and raw emotions I'm am captivated and challenged. The leading character provides the right kind of balance and leaves the reader wanting to know more.

Great Series!

Any additional comments?

Addictive! Wonderful JR Ward writing! - None of the books in this series will disappoint. Audiobooks are expensive and taking a chance on one that doesn't work out for you; Sucks! These books? They won't...not at all!

Narration is TOO FAST!!! Why the rush?

I'm so MAD! Who was the genius who thought that speeding up this narration was a good idea? I've listened to the first hour and had to go back several times because I couldn't follow what's going on! I've listened to hundreds of audiobooks and this has never happened to me before. So far it seems like the book is one big paragraph without punctuation because the narrator is just rushing through. There's one part at the beginning where Mathias is supposed to be reflecting the bad things he's done in his life and it goes so fast that it almost sounds like the legal disclaimer in medication ads. I'm tired just listening. (Not blaming Eric Dove who did an amazing job with the previous books but the producer or whomever makes those decisions.)

I woke up at 5am on the book release day and the first thing I did was check Audible to see if the audio was available. I checked several times during the day and bought it as soon as I saw it - didn't even bother listening to the sample because I loved the previous 3 books. BIG MISTAKE! If you compare the narration of the first 3 books with this one, you can tell there's definitely something wrong. All the other books are around 500 pgs. in print and around 14 hrs. hours in audio...how can this book have the same number of pages but be almost 2 hrs. shorter?

Somebody fixes this or I'm returning this book. I just bought this audio because I loved the narration...if this SUCKS, then I'm definitely not reading this in print.

(Rating is due to the speed of the narration...if I understood what was happening, maybe I could rate the story more appropriately.)

Love JR ward

I have loved every JR Wars book I’ve ever read or listened too. So far in the Fallen Angel Series this is my least favorite of them! Slower and much less action then the rest of her reads.

Who Sped Up the Narrator?????

Ok, I'm mad as !•*! First the producing studios ruin 50 Shades with a pitiful narrator. Now the recording studio has cranked up the speed on my FAVORITE author's Newest book.

I have tried 3 times to listen to Rapture and cannot keep up with the storyline. This wonderful narrator's voice is running at nearly twice the normal speed. Please Audible, demand the publisher remaster this story. I love this series and this narrator. What a financial injustice for the author, narrator and Audible/Amazon. I have over 300 audio books so I know it isn't my inability to listen to an audio book.

I will now go download the book to my Kindle and do this the old fashion way...Read it!

Hmmmm

I love this writer. I wasn't sure how the reader would be for this story. I got lost a few times and had to rewind and pay more attention. The story was still great, and I will look forward to the next in the series, but maybe I will get it in paperback.

Narration speed ruined the listening experience

I wish I had read the reviews here before purchasing this one. My confidence in J R Ward's writing is justified, however the narration speed on this audio is devastating. I had to resort to a library hard-copy to enjoy Rapture.

Slow Down!

Would you try another book from J. R. Ward and/or Eric Dove?

Yes, his previous narration was great. His voice is smooth and cool.

If you’ve listened to books by J. R. Ward before, how does this one compare?

Not as good. I need a speed button.

What didn’t you like about Eric Dove’s performance?

Eric is awesome but the narration speed was too fast. It made me feel anxious so I could not enjoy the book.
