Publisher's summary

Out of the wickedly inventive imagination of number-one New York Times best-selling author J.R. Ward comes a world where sin and salvation collide in a battle for the future of mankind - where a cynical fallen angel struggles against the seven deadly sins and a demon's lure over seven chosen souls....

Mels Carmichael, reporter for the Caldwell Courier Journal, gets the shock of her life when a man stumbles in front of her car outside the local cemetery. After the accident, his amnesia is just the kind of mystery she likes to solve, but she soon discovers they're in over their heads with his past. Over their heads with passion, too...

As shadows walk the line between reality and another realm, and her lover's memory begins to come back, the two of them learn that nothing is truly dead and buried. Especially when youre trapped in a no-holds-barred war between angels and demons. With a soul on the line, and Mels's heart at risk, what in Heaven - or in Hell - will it take to save them both?

Love it

Still enjoying this series and love listening to narrator while I am working or cleaning... Listening free's up my brain and hand but what I like the most is the character the narrator adds to the book!

Wonderful!

Would you listen to Rapture again? Why?

I would totally re-read Rapture again, I love all of her books.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Rapture?

I dont want to give anything away from the story if someone has yet to read it. It was memorable from start to finish.

What does Eric Dove bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I got a better since of the characters in the story. I get to feel them as real people rather than just my voice in my head. For me, its like going to the movies.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I wouldnt say extreme reaction it went the way I thought it would with a couple surprises i wont give away this series is just awesome.

Any additional comments?

Read it but start with Covet first if you havent read any of them. You will not be disappointed.

SLOW DOWN Eric!

What does Eric Dove bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

One of the reasons I buy these on Audible is because I love Eric Doves' voice. He's perfect for the part. I can't understand why in this book, he feels such a need to rush the reading. Before reading the next in the series, please listen to the cadence of the first 2 books and return to that speed. It actually takes away from the story and makes the story not as enjoyable.

Great Series

The Ward is the best- in my opinion no one comes close in this genre. Not as amazing as her Black Dagger Brotherhood series, but still damn good. You can trust anything by this author.

Darker than the Brotherhood

Would you listen to Rapture again? Why?

Yes, I've listened to the "Brotherhood" series more than once and enjoyed this is proving to be just as enjoyable but DARKER.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jim Heron, he's the go to guy in the series. Tough, and seems to be getting tougher in each book. But still has humanity that he doesn't show, but holds close to himself.

What does Eric Dove bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I never heard him before this series but he is very good and does the character voices and emotions very well.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

All "The Fallen Angels" series are really dark, darker than the " Brotherhood" in many ways. The eval that the angels are fighting is a OCD maniac, who delights in horrific tortures. Some stuff is described pretty intensely so if you have a weak stomach you might want to pass the series up. But the story line is great and Eric Dove does a great job at narration. Keep going.

Any additional comments?

I'm looking forward to more in this series. I don't know if there will be any more Brotherhood books but this is a great new series for J. R. Ward.

Life/Death waits for no one

I disagree with a lot of the reviewers the speed was fine, I think it set the pace better for the story. Our characters are all on a mission and time is indeed a factor in it. Jim and Devina are well matched during the series. She seems more powerful but Jim sure can throw a wrench in her plans. Mathias the fu___ as Jim refers to him is priceless as our tortured soul, he's a man of action and jumps in fine. Mels our female character is great and a reporter which again explains the fast talking of the book. We have to give it to Ad he does continue to step up and act out in his special way. As usual I love how we see the crossover of characters from Black Dagger Brothers pass by in this book and hope readers noticed the property where Jim, Ad and "dog" have made their new home.

Rapture: Fallen Angels 4

After listening to all JR Ward’s BDB books I decided to listen to her Fallen Angel series. It took me a little while to get into the first book ,Covet, but was then hooked.
I really enjoy the narrator he not only does both male and female voices well but seems to “get” the authors unique style of writing.
The stories are all based in a game being played out by the creator playing good and evil in the final war for dominance. Jim Heron has been picked to help guide the challenges as he was supposedly equal parts good and evil.
The good guys are a band of unusual entertaining angels both in heaven and a few in the ground , all of whom still enjoy some good food, adventures and even sex.
The saying “Devil in a Blue Dress” has never been truer as the evil “Davina” loves dressing like a real life Jessica Rabbit and her blue dress is one of her favorite outfits.
The stores are all Great and make it hard to have to take breaks in between listening.
My one complaint is that several of the characters including the main one are heavy smokers. Besides not being a fan of cigarettes the characters are sometimes described as sexy and alluring during their act of smoking. Besides being immediately turned off by men who smoke I think glorifying this unhealthy act is just wrong. As a health professional I’ve had to fight to keep those literally suffocating to death because of diseases they’ve developed from smoking. Not to mention how smokers smell, their yellow teeth and second hand smoke.
Other than the smoking issues and many characters who smoke in both series I would say these are great reads and I’ve enjoyed listening to them immensely.

Book 4.. Great

Once again J R Ward takes us into Jim's life as an angel, bringing back an old friend of Jim's, but there's a twist in the story, who is he really saving?? The story was great, full of good action, strong passion and true friendship..
Can't wait for her next book.
