Publisher's summary

Out of the wickedly inventive imagination of number-one New York Times best-selling author J.R. Ward comes a world where sin and salvation collide in a battle for the future of mankind - where a cynical fallen angel struggles against the seven deadly sins and a demon's lure over seven chosen souls....

Mels Carmichael, reporter for the Caldwell Courier Journal, gets the shock of her life when a man stumbles in front of her car outside the local cemetery. After the accident, his amnesia is just the kind of mystery she likes to solve, but she soon discovers they're in over their heads with his past. Over their heads with passion, too...

As shadows walk the line between reality and another realm, and her lover's memory begins to come back, the two of them learn that nothing is truly dead and buried. Especially when youre trapped in a no-holds-barred war between angels and demons. With a soul on the line, and Mels's heart at risk, what in Heaven - or in Hell - will it take to save them both?

This series gets better with every book

I really enjoyed this book. Great characters and a nice twist at the end. Can't wait to read the next one. Really interested to see where Jim and Devina go from here.

Great story, fab reader, poor post-production

What made the experience of listening to Rapture the most enjoyable?

JR Ward has such a fabulous voice. everything about her world-building and characters is so vivid and alive.

Would you be willing to try another one of Eric Dove’s performances?

i *love* eric dove's narration...he's one of my top three favourite male narrators. BUT...i'm really, really sad that whoever did the post-production on this book sped it up. i suspect it was to ensure that the book fit into a particular time-allowance; however, it was annoying. i switched the audible app on my android to half-speed and it was MUCH BETTER. it was so completely obvious that it was the 'true' recording, and that the 'normal' speed had been increased. if the producers actually read commentary, you need to cut that sort of crap out! we, the listeners, can tell and we absolutely don't appreciate it.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

it didn't grab me as much as the previous angel or BDB books, so while i was anxious to get back to it, i wasn't constantly thinking about it. i thought the writing got a teeny bit sloppy in a few parts (rather repetitive), but overall it was an excellent story with deeply touching parts.

Yeah it meets the criteria of expection from J.R.

Would you consider the audio edition of Rapture to be better than the print version?

Equal to print version.

Would you be willing to try another book from J. R. Ward? Why or why not?

I gave up my willingness years ago. I am a die-hard J.R. Ward fan. If she re-wrote the phone book, I'd buy it!

What about Eric Dove’s performance did you like?

I did initially have reservations on his female voices, but got used to it, and could label characters based on his vocal choices.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

More of the point was I almost did!!!

Any additional comments?

Still engrossed in my BD Brothers, that is her contirbution to fame.. Keep'em coming PLEASE!!!

Slow down!

The worst thing about this isn’t the Voice Actor, but the record speed is way too fast! Like listening to an LP on 45 on an old record player. Skipping this listen. in the series.

Enjoyed it, but a little rushed

The narration is much more rapid than previous ones, but, I still enjoyed the performance and book. I hope the next one returns to the excellent tempo of earlier performances.

Super Speed

Where does Rapture: A Novel of the Fallen Angels, Book 4 rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I love the series!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jim is always my favorite :)

What does Eric Dove bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I can picture Jim talking with Eric Dove's voice. I don't think I can do without.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I really did want to listen to it all at once but unfortunately I need to sleep too

Any additional comments?

It seemed like if they fast forward Eric Dove and made him talk fast like he was in a hurry. I have always loved the way he narrates but it seemed like he was in a rush. I constantly had to rewind in order to understand what was going on. I hope they slowed him down for book 5.

They ruined Eric Dove's narration!!

I have bought the other 3 books in this series, and listened to them, other than reading them, solely on Eric Dove's narration. I was so looking forward to this book, they are all so good. Then, right off the bat, Eric seemed to be speeding through the dialog so fast, that I could hardly recognize his voice.
I listened to samples of the other books, and sure enough, it just wasn't the same. So, I read some of the other reviews, and found out that I'm not alone in this complaint! One listener suggested slowing down the pace on the ipod, so that's what I ended up doing. It didn't sound perfect, cause it kinda sounded like listening through a speaker system. But, it was better than speeding my way through the book. Ms. Ward's lines are so cleaver, that you just need to listen to them slowly, and that is what Eric does with the other books. I don't exactly know how, it can be remedied, but I hope they work it out before the next book. I think on book 5, I'll wait for a few reviews, before buying it on audio.
Otherwise, I loved the book,.

REDEEMED

This installment of the fallen angels moves at the speed of lightening, so get ready for things to be super heavy ASAP. The speed of how quickly feelings were developing, etc. threw me off just a bit but Mathias' stay in hell must've put things in sharp perspective for him. All in all, it was a good story of redemption, forgiveness and love.
