Publisher's summary

Best-selling author Robyn Carr has earned a devoted following for her inspirational tales of love and redemption set in the near-magical confines of Virgin River.

Lilly Yazhi knows all she needs to know about Clay Tahoma. Sure, he’s got a certain appeal befitting his Navajo roots, but she’s not falling for Clay’s silent, “earthy” attractiveness. She certainly won't make the same mistake as Clay’s ex-wife. Only trouble is, her heart and mind have committed to different resolves....

Before it was adapted into a Netflix show, Virgin River was a series of more than 20 novels by New York Times best-selling author Robyn Carr. The audiobooks, all read by Audie Award-winning narrator Thérèse Plummer, are well-loved by a wide audience. The series takes place in Virgin River and revolves around new resident Melinda Monroe, a nurse practitioner and midwife. There's more to this sleepy town than first appearances suggest.

Like catching up with old friends...

This is another good addition to the Virgin River series. You can always count on Robyn Carr to give an interesting story about the different people of the town, a great love story and a beautiful ending. And that combined with the best narrator ever, Ms. Therese Plummer, means you cannot go wrong and it is always a credit well spent.

Another excellent book of the Virgin River Series

If you could sum up Promise Canyon in three words, what would they be?

Love Conquers All.

What other book might you compare Promise Canyon to and why?

This is a tough question. I have read many book series and this series has many books. It is one of the more complex ones so far in this series in my opinion. Many issues were settled as well as suspense over the fate of one of the main characters, Jack.

What about Therese Plummer???s performance did you like?

She is getting better as a reader. She reads and doesn't try to make the fake sounding male voices.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was happy that Jack survived the forest fire and Mel knew, in her heart, that he did survive. In this book two main characters had babies. That is always something to smile over. I was also very happy that Vennie and Paul married and they didn't have to worry about a false claim of a pregnancy from an old acquaintance of Paul's.

Any additional comments?

As with any series of books, it is always perhaps better to read them in order so that the introduction of characters is more orderly. For some reason, I have not purchased them in the proper order, so I have found that at times I am thinking, 'Oh so this is where she/he came in'. Luckily, I will be taking a rather long road trip this summer so will listen to them in order for the better flow of characters. This is a good series.

Another wonderful addition

Another wonderful addition to the virgin river saga. I can’t get enough of the characters. The narration is excellent. This doesn’t just tell the story of two but of their place amidst all the other characters and it sets you up with the characters staring in the next one. Just excellent!

Predictable but Entertaining

I almost knew how it would end, but it was an enjoyable journey getting there.

Different Story Line

This book was different than the rest in the series. Not a bad listen, just different. I do like how the author pulled in cultural practices corresponding to the characters heritage.

I really liked this one.

*Note: I did read this series in order but am reviewing them out of order.

This is book #11 in the Virgin River series

I did enjoy this one. The native american aspect was extremely interesting. I loved Clay and Lilly!

Of course, Therese Plummer's narration was spectacular!

I enjoyed being back in virgin river. This story was pretty angst filled. Lily and Clay had some issues to solve but they came thru when it counted.

Native American plot in Virgin River!

I have read the series in order. I enjoy the additions of new faces as well as visiting past romances. This book has plot lines for the starring couple as well as a town update. I am still happy to be along for the ride (pun intended-- there is a horse story in this one as well)!
