Publisher's summary

Best-selling author Robyn Carr has earned a devoted following for her inspirational tales of love and redemption set in the near-magical confines of Virgin River.

Lilly Yazhi knows all she needs to know about Clay Tahoma. Sure, he’s got a certain appeal befitting his Navajo roots, but she’s not falling for Clay’s silent, “earthy” attractiveness. She certainly won't make the same mistake as Clay’s ex-wife. Only trouble is, her heart and mind have committed to different resolves....

Featured Article: Virgin River—The Definitive Explainer

Before it was adapted into a Netflix show, Virgin River was a series of more than 20 novels by New York Times best-selling author Robyn Carr. The audiobooks, all read by Audie Award-winning narrator Thérèse Plummer, are well-loved by a wide audience. The series takes place in Virgin River and revolves around new resident Melinda Monroe, a nurse practitioner and midwife. There's more to this sleepy town than first appearances suggest.

A Little Usual

This was kind of like the others, what I would have like was to hear a little bit more about What was happening with Hopes estate, house, ashes, the people of Virgin River. Not new comers.

The series continures....

For anyone who enjoys romance series, this one is for you. Although some of the scenes are a bit over the top (speaking of the series in general and not this book in particular), these books are a pleasant read without anything to graphic. They give you the view of people in a small community that work as friends and neighbors. With men who are all any woman would want (okay, it is a little unrealistic to have so many handsome, caring men who idolize their woman) it makes you want to pack a suitcase and head out to Virgin River and Jack's Bar. I'd advise getting all the books in the series and starting at the beginning. You can listen to these as stand alones but you get a more in depth feeling fot the characters when you learn about them from the start and how they interact with each other.
I listen to this series over and over and can't wait for the next book to come out.

Very good

What I especially liked about this book was that there was no heavy deep description of sex you knew what was going on without having to know the details I applied the author why couldn’t she have done this with all the other books the story was different but that’s what made it really good I wish she would’ve done it with all the books the last book she did it to it wasn’t as deep and descriptive detailed in the sex I’d like to all her books except for all the descriptive detailed sex the last two she hasn’t. Others must have complained and so she got better I just wish she could fix the other books like revise them because there’s so many people I know who would love these books but they won’t read them because of that

A little off

I absolutely love this series. If I could have given this book 4.5 stars I would have. But 4 was too low. This story was engaging and I enjoyed the characters, but there were some distractions. First, I was not thrilled with the portrayal of Native Americans. I don’t think Robyn Carr was thorough in her research this time, and there was some borderline offensive language, such as referring to a Native American man as “exotic.” Also, the ever-amazing Therese Plummer actually mispronounced a couple of words. And this book had a few too many storylines going. I think the next five plot lines were planted. Still, I enjoyed it. I wouldn’t want to miss one in the series. But this wasn’t my favorite.

Best Series ever!

What made the experience of listening to Promise Canyon the most enjoyable?

I grew up in Shasta County, met my hubby in Chico and often go to many of the areas where these stories include.

What did you like best about this story?

It related to the small communities that my husband and I lived in when he was an elementary teacher. Now we go to Shelter Cove below Garberville often where daughter and hubby have second home. Right in the middle of grower country that often makes the news. The characters in the series are similar to ones I grew up with and it is exciting to read about them as they come to life for me. Great series and well written. Hope more are in the offing.

What about Therese Plummer’s performance did you like?

How her voice took on the character of each person. One of my favorite readers.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

YES! I couldn't get to the next chapter fast enough yet hated to see story end.

Any additional comments?

Please add more to this wonderful series.
