"There is star quality in this writer!" raves the Romantic Times about gifted author Gaelen Foley. Her love stories are filled with glorious settings, stunning characters, and unforgettable passion.
Destiny casts its hand one perfect moonlit night when Ascencion's most elusive highwayman, the Masked Rider, chooses the wrong coach to rob. For inside is Rafael, the prince of the kingdom, renowned for his hot-blooded pursuits of women and other decadent pleasures. The failed raid leaves the equally notorious Masked Rider wounded and facing a hangman's noose. Then Rafe realizes his captive criminal is Lady Daniela Chiaramonte, a defiant beauty who torments him, awakening his senses and his heart as no woman has before.
Dani can only wonder if she's been delivered to heaven or hell once she agrees to marry the most desirable man in the Mediterranean - until forces of treachery threaten to destroy their tenuous alliance and bring down the throne itself.

This is an essential audio book for anyone who appreciates a good love story, and the lure of fairy tales... A fantastic novel with intrigue and passion, loyalty and jealousy. It is immediately captivating. The story of a prince, a traitor, an old secret, and a beautiful young female outlaw. Gabriella is the mistress of her lands; a poor Nobleman's daughter who acts as a "robin hood", stealing from the haughty aristocracy to take care of her poor people and her grandfather. Her lands have been victim of a corrupt Lord, who taxes the people beyond their capacity to survive.
Living in the shadow of his father, Prince Rafi is restless, unforfilled, tired of his meaningless life. He is considered by most to be a spoiled, rakish, ineffective Heir to the throne of a beloved Ascension. His people are devoted to the land and their king, but not to the prince. When the king becomes ill, he forces the prince to marry and give the country an heir. His choice in marriage is a shock to his noblemen and council. He chooses the beautiful outlaw, Daniella, thus saving her from a death sentence. And for this, he gains the approval of the people of Ascencion, who adore the masked outlaw for her devotion to them. For Daniella, it is a dream, a fairy tale come true to marry the handsome Prince Rafi. They have certain attraction, but face obstacles that test their love completely.
Meanwhile, a plot for the throne is being planned, and danger is threatening the King, the Prince and even his Bride.
This is such an unique, intriguing and beautiful tale.
Do not miss this in audio. The narrator is fantastic.

This is the kind of audio book that is difficult to put down. It is a fast paced adventurous story that's fun, sweet, heartwarming and (yes!) charming!
This book is not a deep historical romance.....it's more of a Cinderella type book that every young girl (or young girl at heart) enjoys.
The narration was great. Nell Geisslinger's voice was very pleasant and added to the enjoyment of the book.
If you like old-fashioned fairy tale romances like I do then don't miss out on this one!
This one has it all. I was a little luke warm about GF's books after listening to "One Night of Sin", but I'm so happy I decided to give this one a try. Loved the hoakey story, the mystery and mayhem, and most of all the narration! If you like Amanda Quick, Lisa Kleypass and Jane Feather, you will like this.
I love to read! With kids, that hobby is impossible...enter Audible...problem solved. Chores that I dread are now quiet time for this Mommy!!!
This tilte has been in my wishlist for a while and I was hesitant to purchase with one good and one not so good review. I LOVED IT! I will say it was a bit slow to start in the beginning and there is a ton of back story/other events going on through out the book but that added to the charm. The romance between the two characters is adorable. I despised the hero to start and thought there was NO way I would ever like him, but alas his true character is revealed. I realized how sweet and kind he truly is. There is more than one obstacle to overcome and a great villan in the whole book. The heroine is not the whiny sort that does STUPID things that irratates the hero. I loved that she was strong and honest but loyal to what was right and wrong from the start. The author does not make a mess of the budding romance from one stupid misunderstanding that lasts most of the book like some. The longest a misunderstanding lasts is about two chapters, but there is so much else going on you really don't notice. I did not find my mind wandering during this title like I have some. Just Excellent!!
Really enjoyed this end to the trilogy - it has a great mix of strong characters, an evil villain and a whirlpool of emotions between Dani and Rafael's romance all mounting to the climatic acts of selfless heroism that rewards them (and us) with a fairytale ending.
So, if you're looking for a 'Once upon a time.....' and 'They all lived happily ever after' type of book then this is it.
Worth a credit? Definately.
Never judge a book by its movie
Yes, it is a great story of love, romance, intrigue, masks and marvels..
A little darker version of a Kiss at Midnight.
No, I have not, but I definitely will. I really enjoyed her narration.specially the voice of Rafe.
Masks and Miracles
Audio-fiction ADDICT !
Seeing the ratings and reviews of this book, I expected more. But I was disappointed ! The story was OK but will not capture you! I got bored at multiple parts of the book! I fasted forward many times. The romance was not satisfying at all. The narrator's performance was flat compared to other historic romance narrators. You can not distinguish her male from female voices which left me confused many times. This book can pass time but is not memorable.
The story was a sweet ending to the trilogy. It had enough suspense, intrigue and drama to keep me interested. I also liked the that the focus wasn't so much on the hero/heroine torturing themselves with deprival for the greater good. Yes, there was some but not overkill that was more present in the earlier installments of this trilogy.
Another plus about Foley's writing is that the male leads actually fall in love long before the story is over, which is not something we always see in these books. Usually they hold out till the bitter end or they are faced with death! lol!
The intrigue kept me up at night listening. My only criticism of this one is that the narrator of the first two books in this trilogy did such awesome Italian accents, that this book was a let down in the performance. The narrator is good in her own right, but would have preferred the other one since she added a delightful accent that enriched the characters. Still worth some stars and your credit though!
I can't exactly put a finger on what was wrong, but I really disliked this in audiobook. I love Gaelen Foley's other novels and even this one wasn't horrible on paper but I had to listen to it on double speed to get through.
It wasn't exactly the characters specifically as I liked both the prince and the heroine. It might have been more the heroine's wishy washy attitude on sleeping with the prince who she admits she loves. I couldn't buy the scared line after the first night since this was a women who dressed up as a highwayman (woman?) and robbed people. The prince on the other hand was a bit to willing to take it.
My final word on this one : It's not so horrible to never read, but definitely get it on discount.
