Publisher's summary

#1 New York Times bestselling author J.R. Ward explores what really happens when good and evil toy with humanity in her new novel of the Fallen Angels, as the salvation of a doomed soul depends once again on a crossroads....

When Cait Douglass resolves to get over her broken heart, throw off her inhibitions, and start really living, she's unprepared for the two sensual men who cross her path. Torn between them, she doesn't know which to choose - or what kind of dire consequences could follow.

Jim Heron, fallen angel and reluctant savior, is ahead in the war, but he puts everything at risk when he seeks to make a deal with the devil - literally. As yet another soul is unwittingly caught in the battle between him and the demon Devina, his fixation on an innocent trapped in Hell threatens to sidetrack him from his sacred duty....

Can good still prevail if true love makes a savior weak? And will a woman's future be the key, or the curse, for all of humanity? Only time, and hearts, will tell.

Thank you J.R. Ward! You have done it again!

If you could sum up Possession in three words, what would they be?

Intense, emotional, epic

What other book might you compare Possession to and why?

Well duh, BDB of course!

What does Eric Dove bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Eric Dove, you could read the phone book and I would listen!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

All of the above!

Any additional comments?

Wow! J.R. Ward NEVER disappoints! Fallen Angel’s series is really stepping it up a notch!
I just can’t get enough of Devina. The devil has OCD issues… who knew?!!! I can’t tell you how much I am in love with the fact that Devina has OCD. It’s hysterical! I can’t get enough of Jim and Adrian giving her hell (pun intended). I love hating Devina.
Jim. Oh my sweet lovely Jim. How I wish I was your Sissy! I can’t wait to see how Sissy and Jim’s relationship grows. I’ve seen numerous readers complain about the age difference. But seriously, Sissy is of legal age and has been in hell. So she’s probably like 30-35 as far as maturity. And either way, she’s legal. Mark my words: Jim and Sissy’s love story is going to be epic! But Jim, you need to get your s*** together because the team needs you!
I can’t wait to see what happens with Adrian in future stories. He is a true friend to Jim and Sissy. I’m glad he’s able to still be supportive after losing Eddie.
The ending left me feeling unfulfilled but that’s what happens in a series. Each book gets more and more intense and I’m thoroughly enjoying this emotional rollercoaster that Ward has put us on!
Shout out to Eric Dove, the narrator for the audiobook version. You could read the phone book and I would listen!

Favorite So Far

Eric Dove's narrating has improved with each book. This preformance has been the best he's done in this series. Possession is my favorite installment so far. I'm looking forward to the next. (Side note: FA dosen't even hold a candle to BDB. Just sayn.)

Definitely a Game Changer

This installment of the Fallen Angels series is definitely a game-changer. Jim’s decision to save Sissy has impacted his ability to “play the game” and it leaves Ad and team with dire consequences. It seems that Jim, Sissy and even Devina are now at a crossroads and every decision they make can have a long and lasting impact on how the rest of the war is played out. I can’t even begin to imagine what JR Ward has planned for the continuation of this story. After 5 books I’m still surprised and shocked with how this story is unfolding.

Possession focuses more on Jim Heron and Sissy and less on the soul in question. It was a little different from the previous books but definitely added to the intensity of the story. There is so much more to come with these characters and I can’t wait until the next book. I haven’t been this excited since book 1.

On a technical note, I’m glad the audio team worked out the issues from the previous book. Eric Dove is delicious as ever and I thoroughly enjoyed his narration.

Great Series

The Ward is the best- in my opinion no one comes close in this genre. Not as amazing as her Black Dagger Brotherhood series, but still damn good. You can trust anything by this author.

Not my favorite book in the series.

I won’t give any spoilers from this book (which there are many), but there will some be from previous books in the series.

In book five from the Fallen Angels series, we start off pretty much where book four ended. Jim is obsessed with getting Sissy out of hell. He does what he has to, to get Devina to give up Sissy and she isn’t in great shape. He spends a large portion of his time focusing on her and not enough time on the game.

It take a while to figure out who the soul is this story. Ward doesn’t focus on the hero and heroine as much in this story. There is so much that goes on more with other aspects of the game, they seem lost within the story.

The heroine is Cait, who is a children’s book illustrator and art professor in college. She was actually one of Sissy’s professors before she died. She has a broken heart and her best friend is trying to get her back into the dating game. She meets a singer, GB, at a club with her friend. He asks for her number, which her friend promptly supplies. The before she can even leave the club, she runs into Duke, whose a bouncer at the Iron Mask. He wants to meet with her at the club when his shift ends. Cait has a hard time choosing between the two men.

We find out more than halfway through the story that one of these two guys is a really bad person. He has done some things that you don’t expect. We learn more about GB’s and Duke’s past later in the story.
As for the game, there are some extremely large changes that happen. I can’t say more than that without any spoilers. Let’s just say that, you have to read the book (or in this case, listen).

As for narration, I normally give Eric Dove a 4, but for this one, I have to give him a 3.5. The reason, Xhex. Duke works at the Iron Mask as a bouncer, which makes Xhex, or Alex, his boss. She has quite a few lines early on in the book. He makes her sound WAY too feminine. Now, to give him the benefit of the doubt, if he’s never listened/read BDB books, he would have no idea that Xhex is anything but feminine. John Matthew is mentioned as well, but more as the big guy that comes to see “Alex”, nobody’s ever heard him say a word.

Overall, I enjoyed the story, but I would’ve liked to see more time with our hero and heroine. I think their story was great, but too much time was spent on Sissy. You cannot skip this book.
