Publisher's summary

Kylie Scott returns with the highly anticipated follow-up to international bestseller Lick.

Mal Ericson, drummer for the world famous rock band Stage Dive, needs to clean up his image fast—at least for a little while. Having a good girl on his arm should do the job just fine. Mal doesn't plan on this temporary fix becoming permanent, but he didn't count on finding the one right girl. Anne Rollins never thought she'd ever meet the rock god who plastered her teenage bedroom walls—especially not under these circumstances. Anne has money problems. Big ones. But being paid to play the pretend girlfriend to a wild life-of-the-party drummer couldn't end well. No matter how hot he is. Or could it?

This audiobook includes an excerpt from the first book in Kylie Scott's new Dive Bar series, Dirty.

That you can immediately hit play and re-enter a beloved new world, or love story, or era from history is a gift to the devoted listener. But how to pick just 100 of these unique and immersive listening journeys? We defined a series as having a minimum of three books, and—after some debate—we decided the titles had to be anchored in fiction. sexy and fun

I love this series! Can't wait for the next book. The female lead roles I wish were read a little less dry, but I guess that's the point of these characters, to be shy and awkward.

Can I have a Mal?

Would you listen to Play again? Why?

Yes, and I have listened to this audio book at least 5 times. It's a great story and somehow, Kylie Scott has written the dream guy that I didn't even know I wanted until I read this book.

What other book might you compare Play to and why?

Ink My Heart by Jean Haus, because Mal reminds me Justin. Plus, they are both books based on sexy rock men. The Stage Dive guys are like the 5-years-older versions of the Luminescent Juliet guys.

What does Andi Arndt bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Andi Arndt really gives a great performance. You can hear the sarcasm and the nuances of Anne's inner thoughts. It's great.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed quite a bit.

Any additional comments?

The voice of the author (not the narrator) really got to me. I felt like the things Anne would say and think are the exact same things I would say and think. The words the author uses are words 20-somethings would use and that is how my friends and I speak. I like how it feels the author doesn't have a filter because the swear words are totally appropriate when they are used because that is how the character would speak.

Officially a "Stage Dive" groupie!

I'm in love with this entire series. I started with book one via Audible and have since gotten each one. And I can't wait for more to come out. (Yes, that's a super, nudgy, needy hint to the author. Are your fingers moving over the keys? Please get tapping! lol! I see that Deep is on for Jan release, PLEASE tell me that the audio version will be out at the same time and that you'll be using the same narrator? I'll plead if I have to.) As for this book itself. The erotic scenes were smoking. And the comic relief was delightful. I tend to listen as I run errands and do chores around the house. And I cannot describe how odd I have to have looked while doing so. At one point I was checking out via self checkout and literally busted out in a fit of giggles. The overseer for the check out area had to have thought I was off my rocker. Mal's character was perfectly playful with just the right touch of steamy alpha. Anna is a perfect fit for him and I truly enjoyed their back and forth dialog and how their story played out.

The narrator for this series is perfect! Wonderful job. Trust me I've ran into some audio narrators that I've cringed at. I can't say enough how happy I'll be if this narrator remains with the series as it progresses.

Not as good as Lick but still good

Made me laugh out loud which hardly ever happens with an audiobook so that alone was worth it

LAUGH OUT LOUD FUNNY!! Fun & Entertaining

Where does Play rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I don't write many reviews, but this book (AUTHOR) is one of my favorites of all time. I definitely wanted more, was sad when the book ended - ONLY because the story was over. I love this series, and hope to get many more. I love the way Kylie Scott writes with a mixture of humor and romance - and develops the characters. For me, the characters just jumped off the page - and quickly became characters that I would love to have in my life!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Play?

I'd have to say the texting back and forth between Mel and Ann. Just to much fun. Plus the jumping on the bed. "I'm in Hell - Make it Stop!" LOL MEL is just one of my favorite characters - he is so out there and hilarious, but definitely has a soft underbelly. I just loved him - and Ann was a good counter balance for him.

Have you listened to any of Andi Arndt’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I've listened to her on the book "Lick", She is a wonderful narrator - she changes her voice subtly to reflect the different characters, and brings the moment to life! I'd listen to just about anything she narrators.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book made me laugh out loud so many times! It was wonderfully written with just the right amount of laughter and sweet romance. I love that she doesn't throw sex on every other page- but actually gives the characters a story and interaction between all the other characters in the book. I've read a lot of books in this genre- but this one is definitely one of my favorites. I haven't found characters that I loved so much since "Welcome To Temptation" by Jennifer Crusie. BUT honestly, I think this book just took over as my favorite book! I just love Kylie Scott's humor and how she develops her characters. If Mel can't make you laugh out loud, then I don't know what would.

LOVE MAL!

Oh my gosh, I would love to have someone like Mal in my daily life! What a character. I loved every bit of this story even though I had to break out the tissue box at one point it was totally worth it.

Play with me

Malcom Erickson is my book boyfriend. He's funny, a bit manic, hiding a huge secret that is tearing him up inside, and striving to keep a deep sadness from overtaking his days. He's so damn irresistible.

In Play, he meets Anne , an acquaintance of Evelyn, his band mate's wife, at a party. Having overheard Anne speaking with a friend on the phone, Malcom learns that she is in dire need of help or she will loose her apartment. Mal's decision to move in turns both their worlds upside down.

Kudos to Andi Arndt whose narration is stellar!
