Publisher's summary

A secret government unit is formed under the oversight of Adam Harrison, famed paranormal investigator. The six members he’s gathered know a little of the otherworldly - each has honed a psychic talent of their own.

Jackson Crow, part English, part Cheyenne, heads the group. Haunted by his experience with an ancestral ghost who saved his life as a child, and the recent murders of two previous teammates, Jackson can’t tell if Adam’s demoted him or given him an extraordinary opportunity. Despite his link to the realm of spirits, he’s well aware that the living commit the most heinous crimes, with spiritualist charlatans existing merely to fool and seduce the unwary.

To counterbalance Jackson’s careful skepticism, Adam Harrison has paired him with Angela Hawkins, a young woman who learned the painful lesson of loss at an early age. A police officer utilizing her paranormal intuition in Virginia, she already has her hands full. But Adam’s call to New Orleans is strong.

The case: In a historic mansion in New Orleans’ French Quarter, a senator’s wife falls to her death from a balcony. Most think she jumped, distraught over the loss of her young son. Some say she was pushed. And yet others believe she was beckoned by the ghostly spirits that inhabit the house - once the site of a serial killer’s grisly work. Whether supernatural or all too human, crimes of passion, greed, and desire will cast the pair into danger of losing their lives... and their immortal souls.

First Read of this author

I found the story to be a bit slow to listen to. I am a fast reader and this forces me to have to listen to every detail, some not necessary. I enjoyed the story line and the characters. They were well developed and the reader gave a accurate change to each character.

A very good book!

What about Jeffrey Cummings’s performance did you like?

I really enjoyed his performance. He does a good job at changing his voice for each character.

Any additional comments?

If you enjoy murder mystery/romance/paranormal this is the book for you. It started me on all the next in this series and I have enjoyed all that I've read.

X-Files with Ghosts

Adam Harrison, famed paranormal investigator forms what will come to be known as The Krewe of Hunters an elite unit dedicated to solving the unsolvable. Think X-Files with Ghosts.

He picks skeptic Jackson Crow former FBI profiler, part English, part Cheyenne to lead his cherry picked team. A team composed of all walks of life with only one thing in common. They all possess otherworldly skills, including Jackson hinself.

Jackson and his team soon find themselves embroiled in the apparent suicide of a Senator's wife in a supposed haunted house in New Orleans. When one of his team the lovely Angela Hawkins uses her paranormal intuition to find a skeleton on their first night his skepticism is tested. As is his vow to not get romantically involved with anyone.

Whether supernatural or human foes Jackson and the Krewe find themselves in mortal danger. Danger of losing their lives... and possibly their immortal souls on their first assignment.

I loved listening to this book for free with Audible Escape. It was an enthralling start to what has the makings of an epic Paranormal Romance Series.

No accents please

I enjoyed the story. I like the narrators voice and cadence but his accents were awful.

I love the story but...

I love the story. I own the book, the other books in the this first season, and many of the krewe of hunters. Unfortanitly, I was devistated by the vouce acting. Had I heard it before, I would not ha e gotten the book. The preformer did well for the main character and two other characters but the rest were horrible. Some of the krewe of opposite genders sounded completely alike and Adam Harrison sounded congested and terrible. I was not thrilled nor did I think it did any justice for the story.

very similar to another book I have read, by a different author

it was part of the audicted membership trial, so not bad for not buying it

Almost a 5 star

This is more of thriller. It's listed in Audible romance. So it lost a star because the balance on romance and thriller was off.
