Editorial reviews

This second installment from R. L. Mathewson’s A Neighbor from Hell series is sure to keep the laughs going, as Mathewson delivers with all the wit, cleverness, and romance listeners have come to expect from her. Perfection follows Zoe, a lady who has just lost her job and decided that if there’s a chance something bad can happen it probably will, and her run-in with Trevor, one of the infamous Bradford. Fran Jules gives a lively performance in this audiobook, ramping up the tension and humor, making it impossible to pause this story until you get to its heartfelt end.

Publisher's summary

Zoe is used to taking care of herself and has long ago accepted that if anything bad was going to happen, it was going to happen to her. So when she loses her job over something most bosses would probably be happy with and her life starts going down hill from there, she doesn't expect it to get any better.

She certainly didn't expect any help from the loud jerk next door, but then again she has nothing to lose so puts her trust in him and hopes for the best. What she didn't expect was the once in a lifetime opportunity that he offers her through an arrangement where they both benefit and no one is supposed to get hurt - but she should have known better because her luck has never been that good.

Like most Bradfords, Trevor has a soft spot for food, but that's about all. He leads a pretty straightforward life and likes to keep things simple and that includes his relationships. He wants the perfect woman and knows exactly what she'll be like. So when he discovers much to his horror that he's thinking about his frumpy little neighbor he decides the best way to get his head straight is by working her out of his system. He'll keep her around, but only until he finds perfection.

Liked it very much

I enjoyed the story line... I think the FMC is relatable for many women dealing with body image, weight and competition in dating. That is different than the beauty who can get any woman as the FMC so I really liked that. I also liked the MMC insecurities are also realistic. And the entire thing tell the underlying story of can't judge a book by it's cover.

Also the sex is HOT!!!
the love story is really sweet and gradual and oh doggone is the dialog funny!!!! (This writer is unique and imaginative)

Highly recommend this book and author.

Loved It!

Trevor and Zoey story was everything. I love that she was a curvy woman with some backbone. I also liked how the story started out where he wasn’t honest about his wants in the beginning, and how getting to know someone really changes your perspective of them. This story had lots humor, sex and romance. I really enjoy this series.

Food or Oxygen?

Zoe is having a really bad day, she has been given the sack from her job. Her car window isn't working and of course it's raining, and to top it all her neighbour, the jerk has parked across the two bays as usual and she is forced to park across the street, hoping to avoid a ticket. Trevor Bradford her neighbour is a real pain, apart from always taking her parking space, stealing her newspaper having his television really loud just to name a few. Drives her mad she has just never confronted him. Zoe decides to order herself a pizza and some chicken to cheer herself up. Trevor answers the knock at the door to the pizza guy pays for it and takes it to his apartment. He is about to eat it when he is confronted by Zoe demanding her pizza back which he refuses to do. After a brief argument with neither of them willing to give way, he makes a terrible mistake and insults Zoe in the worst way possible.
This is the second book in the neighbour from hell series the first Playing For Keeps (A Neighbor From Hell Series) was brilliant, although I think I love this one even more. Trevor being a Bradford is the definition of an annoying jerk, but loveable at the same time, and like all the Bradford men he is a complete food obsessive. Banned from restaurants and take away outlets. Where there's a Bradford near food it never last long and more than one Bradford male around food means a fight. Zoe is a plain and plump girl, she has tried so many diets during her life they never work as she just puts on more weight. There is no way a tall handsome guy like Trevor would ever be interested in her. But after rescuing her from a bar one night he makes her an offer she can't refuse. Excellent writing and characterisation, the story grips you from the start, and just doesn't let you go till its over. Wonderful stuff.

Cute

I liked this story more the first time but it's still cute if you can look past the a-hole landlord turned sweetheart. Trevor was way too selfish and judgmental in the beginning but like all the Bradfords, he grows on you and the fact that he didn't care that Zoe couldn't cook sealed the deal for him being a pretty good book boyfriend in the end.
