This stunning blend of historical romance and time traveling adventure has captured the hearts of millions of readers around the world and catapulted author Diana Gabaldon to the top of the New York Times best-seller list. Outlander introduces an exhilarating world of heroism and breathtaking thrills as one woman is torn between past and present, passion and love.
In 1945, former combat nurse Claire Randall returns from World War II and joins her husband for a second honeymoon. Their blissful reunion is shattered when she touches a boulder in an ancient stone ruin and is instantly transported to 1743 Scotland, a place torn by war and raiding border clans. Will Claire find her way back to her own time, or is her destiny forever linked with Clan MacKenzie and the gallant James Fraser?

"Davina Porter maintains the distinct voices she creates for each character throughout the lengthy narration. Her delivery of 18th-century language sounds authentic and is easily understandable." (Audiofile)
Outlander is one of my favorite stories. I read this book many many years ago and finally listened to it a couple years ago. Listening to this story just makes me love it again.
Makes you wish that time travel was possible.
I'll admit it too me me about a month to listen to Outlander (and a little over a month for Dragonfly in Amber).
I can't wait to listen to the rest. I just have to take a break between each so that i can listen to something else for a little while. :D
Fantastic audio, strong characters, awesome storytelling equals an A+ book. Follow Claire Beecham as she is propelled back into the past in Scotland. Experience her triumphs and plights as she tackles the elements and practices of the past.
Davina Porter gives a very strong, stellar performance. She engrosses the listener with every word. Her storytelling is solid, thorough and enables one to hang onto every word as this brilliant story unfolds. Well worth the listen.
I've read this book a few times and am a big fan of the whole series. This is my first audio book and I really loved the experience, a new way to experience a familiar book.
I don't have much of a frame of reference (with this being my first audio book)...but I thought the narration was excellent!
Time travel story, full of surprises.
Jamie is the ultimate book boyfriend
