Publisher's summary

The New York Times,/i> best-selling author of numerous historical novels, including Only His, Elizabeth Lowell has become famous for her stories of heightened passion and sensual romance. Her Only series is popularly and critically acclaimed. Wolfe Lonetree, the illegitimate son of an English viscount and a Cheyenne woman, has agreed to rescue his friend, Lady Jessica, from an arranged marriage to an abusive Englishman. In return, she will accompany him to America to live in the Rockies as his frontier wife. Despite the frightening passion her handsome husband arouses in her, Jessica fears a man's touch and is determined to be married in name only. But Wolf has other plans for his naive young wife. Richard Ferrone's provocative narration is perfect for this tantalizing romance novel. He holds the tension level high as these two star-crossed lovers struggle to control their passions in their attempts to understand one another.

Wow!

This is the first book I have read by Elizabeth Lowell and I absolutely loved it. I truly enjoyed the entire book and could not stop listening! I am not a big romance novel person, but I do enjoy romance with great character development and this certainly has that. I really appreciated the positive woman role models present throughout the book. It emphasized how a woman can be very happy in a relationship and that there can be real intimacy in heart, soul, and body. This was very uplifting for me when I was feeling very down on love.

entertaining story

Romance as it should be: A strong hero and a spoilt lady must survive nature's harshness to subsequently find their love for each other.
The good narration completes the successful package.

So good

This woman has been in the game for years and she is just as fresh as when I read her books as a teen. The imagery of her language still puts me right there with the characters. Her characters are still spellbinding and I feel like I know them.

The main characters are a “halfbreed”American Indian and half British aristocracy, and a young gentile lady aristocrat who has everything done for her. She is suffering fromPTSD from a childhood trauma which makes her fear men and sex and childbirth.

Her friend as a child was the “halfbreed” whom she traps into marriage thinking he would consent to a marriage without sex. Because they are such good friends that he would not want it from her.

She does not realize how selfish her plan is for him. Finally back in America from Britain she learns slowly but surely how ill prepared she is to be a western wife. The time is just after the civil war and the land is new.

While staying with friends she begins to learn how to cook, launder, and begins to show her strengths in other areas. Her husband begins to awaken her body to sensuality in a way in which she can accept.

After he goes all the way with her he decides she is to weak to survive in the west and plans to return with her to Britain. The finale is how she convinces him otherwise.

Hot hot hot. Fun fun fun. Good good good. Lowell still has it.

I read this in paperback long ago.

I truly enjoyed revisiting Wolf and Jessica's story in this format. The narrator did a good job voicing the female character's. Often that is the one thing that makes it hard to listen to a narrator you are unfamiliar with. This is a good story and done well. I recommend this book.

I can't believe the constant teasing

What disappointed you about Only Mine?

The constant teasing about Wolf's desire for Jessie. And Jessie acts like she's twelve not knowing anything about sex yet she help her Mother deliver six stillborn babies. ??? and the Narrator, Jessis is suppose to be England/Scot and he doesn't even bother to use any type of dialect. All through the books all you hear is

Would you ever listen to anything by Elizabeth Lowell again?

Yes, but I'd beware of this Narrator

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Richard Ferrone?

Xe Sands.. Definately

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The sex scenes were steamy

Any additional comments?

Let Richard Ferrone do children's cowboy stories, and leave the Adult one for the professionals!!!

loved the story-hated the narration

Only Mine, Only His, Only You were very enjoyable books but the narrator's rendition of a female voice just about ruined the story for me.

Disappointed.

I like Elizabeth Lowell's writing and am sorry to give one of her books such a low grade, but I loathe heroes who are cruel to their heroines and in this one, the hero is cruel for almost the whole book. I listened to the entirety hoping (and praying) it would get better, but it didn't.

I also normally like Richard Ferrone, but the whispering voice of the heroine drove me up the wall. I couldn't wait for the story to end.

Disappointed.

I personally did not enjoy this book, even though I have read the other books in this series beginning Only.... The hero has to be the most obtuse, blind, stupidest person out. I finished it, but only because I'd paid for it.
