Publisher's summary
Left alone on her family's Civil War-ravaged farm, Willow Moran wants to find her gold-mining brother in the Colorado Rockies and start a new life. Dark, strong, unsmiling Caleb Black is going to be her guide. As threatening as he seems, this former army scout is Willow's best hope for a safe passage through the treacherous mountains past comancheros and Indian renegades. But torn between his need for a woman and his thirst for vengeance, Caleb has his own reasons for helping the innocent young Willow.
Characteristic of Elizabeth Lowell's books, Only His offers an exciting world of heightened passion and warm sensuality. Richard Ferrone's tantalizing narration lets listeners experience the thrill of a dangerous liaison from the safety of an armchair.

Beautifully Done
While I enjoyed the reader overall, I think that it could have been better had those parts that were done from the heroine’s perspective been read by a woman. There was some mispronunciation as well but really I loved this book and this series even before I got it on audible.

Enjoyably written...well read
This writer does a great job of making well rounded characters. I like their grit and unlike a lot of romance books there is rarely a moment that you say " Don't do that stupid". This reader does add to the book's appeal as well. I can almost stand any reader but it's great to really enjoy one!

Warning: A few mild spoilers in review...
I don’t really care for knuckle-dragging Neanderthal men choking everyone with their testosterone stench and Caleb comes close to that characterization in the beginning IMO. I think men are so much more attractive when they are confident and strong enough in their masculinity to be giving and vulnerable in their treatment of others. I know life was rough in the West in that time period but not all men were the stereotype of being rough and emotionally constipated alphas. Furthermore, I do not usually enjoy enemies-to-lovers stories or men always “rescuing” the females. However, Caleb begins to become more human as the story progresses and finally redeems himself in the end. I thought he was never going to have enough self awareness or guts to finally admit he loves Willow and it really took too long. In addition, Caleb claims he never lied to her but I think he lied blatantly by omission.
Now for the positive...I love a good Western on occasion. I like that Willow is portrayed as a strong and capable person. I always enjoy some steam in the sex scenes and this writer doesn’t slam the bedroom door in your face either. Kudos! Also, I thought the narrator did a good job with the story in inflection, emoting and differentiating the voices, even the female ones.
In conclusion, I liked the novel as a light and entertaining read. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good Western.

Outstanding !
This is the first time I listen to this author and found the story captivating. Loved the leading Characters and look forward to reading the rest of the series. The narrator was good too. My only observation though is that the love scenes were a bit over done with two people on the run especially the scene with her brother in the same camp.

Only His 3.5 Stars
This is an old favorite that I read many times in my youth. So I was pleased to see it was part of the Romance Package Audible is now offering. I was enjoying it immensely right up until the heroine decided to be too stupid to live just because her pride was hurt. I hate false conflict. In every other instance Willow showed remarkable intelligence & quick thinking. But knowing she was in the middle of a band of thugs, she chooses that time to take off on her own?! Come on.

Good Series
Strong, solid characters and a good storyline. The romance is hot and yet sweet and endearing. Blends well with the other books in the series. Good choice from a great author!

What a great western Romp
Any additional comments?
This book sat in my wish list for months until i finally felt like something different than ii normally buy so bought Only His. I found the book very good with a strong male and female lead. There were the usual goodies verses baddies plus beautiful Arabian Horses and lots of hot and sexy lust/love scenes. Richard Ferrone is a wonderful narrator and help my interest the entire book. I must say Only His i a great addition to my ever increasing audio book library..

Slow First Half
Well written and narrated, but there wasn't much to it. I almost stopped listening in the first half of the book, but I stuck with it because of the favorable reviews, hoping it would get better. The second half was better, and it ended well, but it's not a book I would listen to again.
Not worth a credit, in my opinion.

Shouldn't a VOA know how to pronounce words?
I hate the narrator. He mispronounced tarpaulin again and again and also Salome, FFS. I thought he said salami at first.
