Publisher's summary

One single mom. One chaotic family. One quirky stranger. One irresistible love story from the New York Times best-selling author of Me Before You.

American audiences have fallen in love with Jojo Moyes. Ever since she debuted stateside, she has captivated fans and reviewers alike, and hit the New York Times best-seller list with the word-of-mouth sensation, Me Before You. Now, with One Plus One, she's written another contemporary opposites-attract love story that reads like a modern-day Two for the Road.

Suppose your life sucks. A lot. Your husband has done a vanishing act, your teenage stepson is being bullied, and your math-whiz daughter has a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that you can't afford to pay for. That's Jess' life in a nutshell - until an unexpected knight-in-shining-armor offers to rescue them. Only Jess' knight turns out to be Geeky Ed, the obnoxious tech millionaire whose vacation home she happens to clean. But Ed has big problems of his own, and driving the dysfunctional family to the Math Olympiad feels like his first unselfish act in ages...maybe ever.

One Plus One is Jojo Moyes at her astounding best. You'll laugh, you'll weep, and when you hear the last page, you'll want to start all over again.

This is Not Your Typical Romantic Comedy...

I loved this book!!!

This is the first of Jojo Moyes' books I have read. As soon as I finished it I started it over and caught many details that I didn't get the first time.

What I really love about this story is that it is nearly believable. I felt like I knew this struggling single mom. I've taught kids just like the math-brained sister and the angry teenaged boy. I want to believe that super rich businessmen can catch a clue!

Their road trip is downright funny, never predictable and almost feasible.

The best part is that everything doesn't wrap up neatly and it left me wanting more.

Loved, loved, loved this book

This book robbed me of half of a night's sleep. I had started the book. It was 2 am and I decided to listen for "just an hour." Then I had 4 more of those hours, then got up and finished the book. I laughed occasionally, wept ALOT and had to ice my eyes to try to get rid of the puffiness!
A day later I listened again to parts during which I may have nodded off and missed. I love the way the romance built and the 4 voices were terrific.

Laugh out loud funny but have hankies ready.

Would you consider the audio edition of One Plus One to be better than the print version?

Absolutely, the cast was perfect for the book and lifted it above the usual "chic lit romance fare". They were all so good at making their characters come alive that by the end, I thought they were people I actually knew. If I actually knew anyone on the coast of England, that is!

What was one of the most memorable moments of One Plus One?

(I don't want to give away an important detail with out saying spoiler alert.)
When Norman rescues Tansy by getting hit by a car.

Have you listened to any of the narrators’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I may have listened to one or more of them individually but I am not sure.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, at first I didn't like the character of Ed and actually considered skipping his parts in the beginning. As the story moved on and they begin their road trip to Scotland, I began to enjoy his character and much as everyone else. I delayed the pleasure of listening to this book when I could really enjoy the humor and laugh out loud.

Any additional comments?

In the end, this is a romance but it is much more than a love story between a man and a woman. It really is a love story about all the ways we love - romantically, parent to child, child to parent, love of one's job, love of self, the love (or kindness) of strangers and even love of pets.

Perfect

I loved the narrations of each of the characters. I wish more books were narrated this way, it really adds to the experience.

This book was funny, light and real. I fell in love with this amazingly odd family and their slobbery dog. Their story left me with the reminder that everyone, no matter the social status, has their own set of issues. Never judge a book and such. I’ll sum up with this, no pun intended, I love a book that can give me a glimpse into the hearts of others and leave an impression on me. This book did that for me.

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED THIS BOOK!

This book made me laugh, cry and really care about the characters and story! I have to ration myself to only listening while working, (or I have a very disgruntled family) so I cleaned my car for an hour after working all day, just to keep listening :)

A little slow to start

It took me a few chapters to get into the story but then it picked up. The ending was very sweet!

A must read

Have found another author to add to my favorite.
Its story about how a single mother who try to give her 2 children, one is not even hers, what they need and is always optimistic despite all the hardship and wrongs that comes her way. And a rich guy who has everything and lost all of it. Its about what is right or wrong and about love and forgiveness, sounds a bit cliche but read it and you wont regret it. I laugh as well as cried. I wanted to give this a 10 stars if i can. Its the sort of book that you will run the story you just read in your head during the day, while walking and cant wait to find time to get back to it to know whats next.
