Publisher's summary

Jocelyn Butler has been hiding from her past for years. But all her secrets are about to be laid bare…

Four years ago, Jocelyn left her tragic past behind in the States and started over in Scotland, burying her grief, ignoring her demons, and forging ahead without attachments. Her solitary life is working well - until she moves into a new apartment on Dublin Street where she meets a man who shakes her carefully guarded world to its core.

Braden Carmichael is used to getting what he wants, and he’s determined to get Jocelyn into his bed. Knowing how skittish she is about entering a relationship, Braden proposes an arrangement that will satisfy their intense attraction without any strings attached.

But after an intrigued Jocelyn accepts, she realizes that Braden won’t be satisfied with just mind-blowing passion. The stubborn Scotsman is intent on truly knowing her...down to the very soul.

Braden

This book while having very hot sex scenes has a wonderful story, I love its not just an erotic novel.

Narration....

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I had never head this narrator before and was not impressed with her narration. I can't stand 'up-speak' and it's fraught with it.

What did you like best about this story?

The storyline itself. It had so much potential but I was constantly distracted by narrator.

Nice contemp rom based in Scotland

On Dublin Street has been on my TBR for far too long. Thanks to Loupe from Hot Listens I was gifted this audio after winning the 2nd quarter audiobook challenge. :-)

When I first started listening to this story I was hoping it wasn’t like all the other contemporary romance/new adult books out there. There are some similarities to other popular books in this genre but far more differences. My favorite difference is the setting, a this book took place in Scotland.

Jocelyn aka Joss is nothing like any other heroine I’ve read before. She’s smart, funny, sarcastic, creative (she’s an aspiring writer) but she also has a dark side. Joss has been through a lot of tragedy in her short twenty something years and struggles to deal with it all. Joss’ way of “dealing” with it all is ignoring it all and detaching herself from others. I like that she’s not perfect, but kind of dysfunctional. Throughout the book the readers are able to witness her evolution over time, which I enjoyed.

Braden, THANK GOD, is not your typical womanizing rich man in this book although he is all those things. Braden is a VERY successful business man with plenty of money but the story doesn’t focus on that. He doesn’t go around flaunting his money, taking lavish trips, but is found working late nights a lot of times. Braden had me right from the beginning with his flirtatious banter with Joss, I thought it was really cute. He’s perfect for Joss. He’s patient and understanding of her and her fears.

I loved the side characters! My favorite was Reanne, Joss’ best friend. She was dysfunctional, loved to call Joss on her shit and sarcastic….LOVE! She could also be found calling Joss a bitch at random times. LOL <3 Ellie was also pretty awesome. She was so sweet, trusting and caring all the time but could also be a hardcore badass when she needed to be.

I very much enjoyed this love story. I’m glad that their journey was filed with “real” shit, not fluff. It was not a quick easy whirlwind romance but one that flourished over time and allowed Braden and Joss to both grow as individuals and as a couple. I will definitely continue with this series.

Narration Note: Paula Costello’s performance was GREAT! Every character except Joss was spoken in a Scottish accent. The accent was RIGHT ON in my opinion. Who wouldn’t love a man with a Scottish accent? Paula did Scottish accent + sarcasm = AWESOME!

Ear Candy!!!

What made the experience of listening to On Dublin Street the most enjoyable?

It was an easy enough story to listen to. Everyone was very likeable, there really wasn't any terrible conflict. It was pretty much easy breezy in Scotland until...the sex. If this boats a rockin'....holy cow can this woman write some very detailed and realistic sex scenes. I would stop working and just stare off into space whenever Joss and Braden started up. Not being a fan of romance novels or chick lit in general because aside from the silly story lines, the sex is completely unrealistic with all of the "throbbing centers" and "explosions of joy...always at the same time" Seriously?? But not Samantha Young...she makes it great without being over the top..unlike some other book series that shall not be named. She got it just right...for me anyway. I'd give another title of hers a whirl just based on the sex alone.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

My reaction wasn't surprising. It wrapped up like a Lifetime Movie.

What three words best describe Paula Costello’s voice?

I know it's supposed to be only 3 words but whatever...great accent yet it fell flat and just deadpan at times..no emotion really. And sometimes I didn't know if she was thinking to herself or actually speaking to another character. Annoying but again the story was't about how to disarm a nuclear missle, I was able to catch up after a moment.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me extremely hot in the pants at times...

Any additional comments?

Overall the book is worth the credit. Nothing earth shattering here in terms of story but it's relatable and the characters are likeable and sometimes that's all you need in any book. Not every book is meant to be life changing...sometimes you just need to have a little fun. Perfect ear candy.

I fell for the accent

If you could sum up On Dublin Street in three words, what would they be?

Some steamy sex.

What other book might you compare On Dublin Street to and why?

VERY light compared to 50 Shades.

What about Paula Costello’s performance did you like?

Scottish Accents! Dang, Braden Carmichael's accent did it for me.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Jocelyn's snarkiness is over the top. If she could have toned it down, this would be a 4 star performance.

Any additional comments?

If you are looking for a alpha jealous man with an accent & some very good sex scenes, this is a fun book

Oh-my-wow - I absolutely love Braden Carmichael!

What made the experience of listening to On Dublin Street the most enjoyable?

Everything. I LOVE the story but Paula does a fabulous job narrating it - possibly one of my top 3 audio books ever. I would listen to Paula read the dictionary if she did it in Braden's voice.

What other book might you compare On Dublin Street to and why?

I hate comparing - if you love angsty romances, you will love On Dublin Street.

What about Paula Costello’s performance did you like?

Everything. But especially Braden's voice/accent. She did a fantastic job.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes...I laughed, cried, swooned - it was amazing.

Any additional comments?

One of my favorite books of all time and all the audio book did was confirm my love!
