Publisher's summary

Her life is missing the love… When Katelyn “Katie” Morrison attends her brother’s wedding, the glamorous hotel heiress wonders if she’ll ever find “the one”... especially when she sees her sexy-as-sin ex, Dean Prescott. After the nuptials, she’s shocked to discover an infant girl on her doorstep. Deciding to keep the baby until she can locate the mother, Katie doesn’t have the time - or energy - for Dean’s suspicions. But she still can’t shake the longing she feels for him.

While attending his best friend’s wedding, Dean can’t stop staring at Katie’s sinful curves. He swore he’d never repeat the mistake of falling for her. Learning that Katie has a newborn, Dean knows there’s more going on than Katie admits... just as he knows their attraction hasn’t faded. But when he and Katie uncover the identity of the baby’s mother, they may lose their second chance at love.

Not quite as good as the first one...

This is a fluffy easy listen. It's ok but not a book I would listen to again. The first one was much better. I guess my issue is that the storyline is too fantastic. Katie is a Paris Hilton type character. She's a spoiled rich party girl who happens to get a baby in her doorstep (yeah right). The baby came with adoption papers and everything! The story of who the parents are, how the baby ended up with Katie and how she wants to quit party and socializing just to take care of the baby is unrealistic. The romance also didn't quite do it for me. This book is good if you get it on a good sale and want an easy listen while on vacation.

Great read and getting-better listen..

So, thanks to Hurricane Irma I’ve been without TV and Internet for 4 days. It was truly horrific AND I’m happy to say Irma turned and we weren’t hit that badly but prayers to those who were hit. That being said, I did finish Not Quite Mine, read another book and started another.

Let’s get down to this one, which I read in 2013. I love second chance romances and I’m happy to say I don’t give a darn if it’s believable or not. Believability IS NOT why I read romance! If I wanted believability I’d read fiction. I want the STORY: how they met, how long were they together, why did they break up and how long were they apart.

Dean and Katelyn’s story was fascinating and mysterious for a while, as they tried to figure out who left the baby on Katie’s doorstep, and why? And it was funny how she and Monica tried so hard not to let anyone find out about Savannah until Katie’s PI found out the truth of the whole thing. Who cares if what Katie and Monica did was legal or not? This is a book, not today’s front page news. It was a really great story and I enjoyed as much as I did Not Quite Dating, for the second time. Since I read the first two books in the Not Quite series I might as well read them ALL again.

There was explicit sex in this book and the F-bomb was released 9 times.

As to the narration: Ms. McFadden keeps getting better.

Language

The story line is good. I guess I will never understand using that kind of language. I will not be listening to anymore of Catherine Buber books.

Delightful

Catherine Bybee's "Not Quite Mine" is a delightful listen, as narrated by Amy McFadden. This is book two in the "Not Quite" Series, and another hit to add to her list, as she continues with the familiar characters of book one, developing more deeply into the lives of Katelyn, Jack's sister and his best friend, Dean.
Definitely credit worthy! Enjoy!

Ok

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The reason I didn't rate this book more highly might be because I listened to it right after listening to Not Quite Dating. I liked Jessie but I never really grew to like Katie.

Has Not Quite Mine turned you off from other books in this genre?

No it has not. I really like romance based audiobooks and will probably continue in that genre.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Amy McFadden?

I enjoyed Amy McFaddens voice and thought that she represented each character well with subtle differences in the way they spoke.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I liked that Katie was so dedicated to caring for Savannah but the real mothers explanation for giving her up seemed unrealistic.

Any additional comments?

No

Book 2 Was FABULOUS!!!

"Not Quite Mine" was simply FABULOUS!!! I love how Ms. Bybee bring her series together through each book. You're quite SKILLED in throwing some MYSTERY into your Contemporary Romance Novels and it works for you. I also appreciate the roles that you give to the females in your novels are strong and obtainable.

Amy McFadden continues to give an OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE as the narrator. I feel she deserves a STANDING OVATIONS 👏👏 for her voice range for the many characters introduced in Book 2. It's an accomplishment not made by many. McFadden deserves more than 5-⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐s, but that's all I have to give.

I definitely recommend "Not Quite Mine" to others, I know you would enjoy it!

Good. But a little far fetched.

Not as good as the first book. I really liked the characters, the chemistry, dialogue throughout the book, sexual tension and sex scenes. It was well written and flowed nicely.

BUT a portion of the story line was a bit far fetched and not likely. I know its a book and books are a way to escape and I read all sorts of genre's and don't expect reality at all, but still. (I don't want to spoil anything)
Otherwise it was great. And I have already started the 3rd book in this series.

As for the narrator. She did okay, still hoping she works on her men's voices a bit more.
