Publisher's summary

From New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal best-selling author Catherine Bybee comes the third novel in the delicious Not Quite series.

Can a sexy pilot's dazzling smile melt the Ice Queen? Monica Mann has made it her life's work to save lives. After an earthquake and tsunami hit the shores of Jamaica, she volunteers her trauma skills with Borderless Nurses. Calculating and methodical, she creates order out of whatever chaos she finds…. Until she finds the perpetually barefoot, impossibly masculine Trent Fairchild. No one can pin him down. No, really. He's a pilot and manages a small fleet of choppers on his adopted island home. Hopelessly drawn to one another, they manage to slip away from the wreckage of the storms to get a little closer. And they get a lot closer than expected when aftershocks from the earthquake trap them in their own life-or-death scenario. Paradise has brought them together. Now will it tear them apart?

An exciting, engaging and romantic adventure!

Not Quite Enough, is the third book in Catherine Bybee's Not Quite series. So far, this installment is definitely my favorite. This contemporary romance is about Monica and Trent. When an earthquake followed by a tsunami hit the coast of Jamaica, Monica Mann is one of the first trauma nurses to finally make good on her training with Borderless Nurses. She uses this trip to get away from jerk of a boss and recent break up. Trent Fairchild retreated to Jamaica after the sudden death of his parents. He continues to struggle over the guilt he carries. While living in Jamaica he manages a small tourist transportation fleet of helicopters and spends most his time flying! They meet during difficult circumstances, something most people won't even imagine finding themselves in. There's an instant spark between them. Monica feels she isn't one for long term relationships, in fact she tends to end them before it becomes to serious. Sex is fine, love isn't for her. Trent has major trust issues because of things that happened in the past. Then one day they finally give in to the constant attraction to each other when suddenly they find themselves in a life in death situation. I really enjoyed this book, with its action adventure, great humanitarian effort, survival and to top it off a hot steamy and dramatic romance.......can't ask for much more!! Not Quite Enough is a good, captivating and engaging book.

Not special, but satisfactory

A nurse heads to tsunami damaged Jamaica to care for injured islanders. Those who know her call her the 'ice queen.' She meets and hooks up with a helicopter pilot who lives on the island and whom she believes is only a pilot when he is actually a co-owner of a large corporate airplane charter business. (The disaster environment is interesting, but I don't know if it's accurate.) The couple gets trapped as the result of a large aftershock, which is when the real drama starts.

The author has consistent grammatical errors and her premise is sometimes awkward. For example, the protagonist is supposed to be the 'ice queen,' but she doesn't include any cold behavior - unless her ability to focus during stressful times is 'cold,' or her immature relationships are 'cold.' The type of person she is supposed to be doesn't fit the actual character, who is friendly, competent, and confident; and a young woman who is happy playing the field. We know even less about her male love interest. In fact, the author doesn't fully develop any of the characters. The plot is average and predictable.

Even so, the performer does a very good job, which actually improved my listening experience. Somehow, this circumstance leaves me in a better mood than a reader who ruins an intriguing and brilliantly written story... go figure.

Overall, go ahead and get this if you have credits lying about and have no audio books you are dying to hear.

LOVED IT!

So much story, not a lot of sex, though some good hotness. SOOOOO much sweetness and love and oh wow, drama. Seriously! This book was action packed, so much in this story. I enjoyed the other books in this series and will listen again and again and again!

One thing I will say is that the word usage is somewhat cumbersome. There are times I noticed it, thinking, wow that was a really awkward transition, but it never took away from the story. The story is worth it.

I don't remember such a great story of a nurse and wow, thinking about Doctors without Borders and Nurses without Borders, I know they're not called that in this book, but we really get a good view of their life, well except the romance novel portion! Great story, totally worth it. Good series! I love getting to visit with the previous couples again as well.

Predictable but enjoyable

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

For a basic and easy read this is a fine book. I wouldn't rave about this book or make a point to tell a friend about the book.

I really dislike romances that don't allow relationships to develop. I feel that this is an easy out for the writer. I like more interaction between the love interests. I want to be able to feel that I was there while the couple grew to know each other and when the book ends feel that the relationship, if real, would last.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked that the Monica is a hardworking woman. I like that she has emotional flaws.

Loved this book..

Any additional comments?

Such a terrific story. Loved Trent/Barefoot and Monica. Every bit as good as the other Not Quite books and I can't wait for the next one. AND, the narrator was awesome!

Great Story! Really enjoyed it.

This was a great story. Story line was much better than the second, and as good as the first!
The hero, Trent was great, really liked his character. And the heroine, Monica was strong and smart. They had some great chemistry together, sexual tension and very nicely written sex scenes. Lots of great dialogue throughout the book.

I really like Catherine Bybee's writing style, Easy to read, follow and everything flows very nicely together. Not full of unnecessary filler nonsense. I totally recommend this series.

As for the narrator she is pretty good, still needs to work on her men's voices, but she reads with emotion and has a nice voice.

Rap No More

I am a recent fan of C. Bybee enjoy this series however I am taken back with just one line in this story about Rap Music and killing people. In today's world why couldn't the author just have said Rap Music or Rock must everything having to do with beautiful people of color be negative...and please understand Rap Music today is of all nationalities however it started with beautiful people of color. Not cool.
