Publisher's summary

Let #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts fly you into Lunacy, Alaska, and into a colorful, compelling novel about two lonely souls who are searching for love and redemption...

As a Baltimore cop, Nate Burke watched his partner die on the street - and the guilt still haunts him. With nowhere else to go, he accepted the job as Chief of Police in a tiny, remote Alaskan town with the hopes of starting over. Despite the name, Lunacy provides a balm for Nate’s shattered soul - and an unexpected affair with pilot Meg Galloway warms his nights....

But other things in Lunacy are heating up. Nate suspects the killer in an unsolved murder still walks the snowy streets. His investigation will unearth the secrets and suspicions that lurk beneath the placid surface, as well as bring out the big-city survival instincts that made him a cop in the first place. And his discovery will threaten the new life - and the new love - that he has finally found for himself.

Critic reviews

"[A] richly textured novel that captures the intimacy of smalltown police work, the prickliness of the pioneer spirit and the paradox of a setting at once intimate and expansive." (Publishers Weekly)

"Roberts's latest hit novel could not be performed better." (AudioFile)

Great narrator

The narrator did a great job giving each character their own voice. The book is a thousand times better than the movie. Nora is one of my favorites especially the Series rise of the magicks

Good story!

When I first started listening to this story, I was a bit put off by the narrator's voice for the main male character. I wanted it to be a bit deeper. But as the story went on, I pretty much enjoyed the narration and really enjoyed the story. Very typical Nora Roberts and that's fine with me!

A Cool Treasure ❣️

I enjoyed this story. Gary Littman's narration was delightful. I had no problem imagening the characters especially Mayor Hop, and the black cook at the local hotel. Mr Pittman is truly a talented narrator. I enjoy the author and I will be looking for other books that Mr Littman has narrated.
I highly recommend this book. Nora Roberts gave me a good idea of what a small Alaskan town would be like. The plot captured me immediately and her description of the countryside, the wild life and the weather put me right there! I could actually hear the spring thaw of the river in Lunacy. Enjoy.

Roberts does it again!

As I was listening to this book I kept thinking it sounded really familiar and then I realized that I've read it before. But, since I enjoyed it so much in print version I figured what the heck? I would go ahead and finish it in audio. I'm glad I did. It's not often I get to do an audio versus print comparison. I can honestly say that this book is great in either form.

Meg Galloway is a crazy bush pilot in Lunacy Alaska. Being abandoned by her beloved father and raised by an attention hungry, needy mother has made her very independent and pragmatic. To her things are black and white. You have a need? Fill it. Don't sit around feeling sorry for yourself and don't expect someone else to do it for you.

Nate Burke is the new Sheriff to Lunacy. Coming from the lower 48 he's an automatic outsider and not to be trusted. A few of the townspeople are friendly enough, but he has a long ways to go to prove himself. Now, a body has turned up and Nate is in the position to find the decades old murderer and no one in town is free of suspicion.

This book becomes interesting when Meg and Nate hook up as a couple and to solve the murder. Meg was a bit brash for my tastes in many scenes, but in others endearing. I think this is more of a personal taste. I like strong heroines, but not in your face. There were times when she was in your face. However, Nate and Meg played off of one another really well. Nate was a great hero. I loved just about everything about him.

One of my favorites!!!

I really enjoyed this book! The story was interesting and informative about Alaskan life. The narrator was excellent and his voices were distinguishable. I loved Nora’s Chasing Fire and this book falls into the same category!
