"I'm Lexi Carmichael, geek extraordinaire. I spend my days stopping computer hackers at the National Security Agency. My nights? Those I spend avoiding my mother and eating cereal for dinner. Even though I work for a top-secret agency, I've never been in an exciting car chase, sipped a stirred (not shaken) martini, or shot a poison dart from an umbrella.
"Until today, that is, when two gun-toting thugs popped up in my life and my best friend disappeared. So, I've enlisted the help of the Zimmerman twins - the reclusive architects of America's most sensitive electronic networks - to help me navigate a bewildering maze of leads to find her.
"Along the way, my path collides with a sexy government agent and a rich, handsome lawyer, both of whom seem to have the hots for me. Hacking, espionage, sexy spy-men - it's a geek girl's dream come true. If it weren't for those gun-toting thugs...."

Great story, well paced, well narrated. It was serious in the right places and funny when appropriate. The espionage is light but not in a bad way. I don't like overdone romance and this had just enough to keep things interesting without being over the top. This was a fun listen and I can't wait for more by this author, hopefully continuing the characters in this story.
I liked the narration. She did do a really bad Italian accent, but I thought her voice was pleasant and easy to listen to- the other accents were GREAT!
I liked that Lexi could laugh at herself.
As above the performance was GREAT except for the Italian accent.... It sounded a little more like Dracula... but otherwise I thought she did a good job
The story is OK, not very deep and I would like it to be more about hacking than how inept she is around people. The narrator is fine with Lexi's dialog, but when she tries to do accents, they are so bad (especially Italian) that it is distracting from the story.
Anglophile. Prefer only British fiction and mysteries. Good translations of Italian, too.
Someone who likes a reader with too much saliva and a bad concept of timing, enunciation, pronunciation and general charm.
If someone clever had been hired. The prose is not bad. I keep trying to find "good" american authors. With the right voice, this could have been zippy and entertaining.
The reader who is not a character but who ruins the book. I could not finish the book.
I feel sorry for this promising author to be saddled with such an awful reader.
Th narrator is just SO bad that it's overshadowing any good that this book might have been. She's is a slow talking, over-enunciator, who is making everything sound cheesy with her over-the-top "harlequin" voice. I get that this is a categorized as a Harlequin production, but if she could just read it like a normal person, it could read like cute heroine, chick lit. She's also a saliva-heavy reader....ug.
I've listened to hundreds of audiobooks and I've learned that narration is 80% of the experience, at least. I'd like my credit back, please.
Have a Boomerang Millenial Daughter. We like her, she likes us so, nice to have her back. Both my Husband and I are Proud USN Veterans.
I throughly enjoyed this book. it was light and is to listen and to hear all the goofy plot line . my only complaint is on the mispronounced word, hadn't . the reader always mispronounced as hat-ent . it made me cringe everytime. other than that, I really enjoyed it . it reminded me of Lucy and Ethel's crazy antics.made me laugh more than a few times.
I enjoyed everything about the listen. I liked the narrator and thought she did a great job of making Lexi sound geeky as well as very, very smart. The narration is always my favorite way to read/listen to a book. I get the books in both formats Kindle and Audible.
Lexi, of course. The two hot hunks, Finn and Slash are a close two and three. Basia is fun and a good friend to Lexi so she is essential. The twins are her standby helpers. So, I guess I like all of the main characters.
I liked the scene where Basia and Lexi are talking about the cloning issue and the ambassador shows up with his gun. From there it all goes nuts and I loved the part where Slash arrives and rescues Lexi. I'm thinking I like Slash.
Geeks Are Fun!
I loved this book when I read it but hated it when I was listening to it. I couldn't listen for more than an hour. The reader is just totally wrong for the book. She does it no justice. I'm so glad I decided to read it on my kindle instead of just giving up on it because it was so much fun! A total page-turner with a little humor tossed in. It's more complex than your average cozy mystery but not as dark as your average spy thriller. It's a nice combination of the two. I loved Lexi and all the other characters. I can't wait to see them all again in the next book and am curious to see which of her many potential suitors she ends up with.
