Publisher's summary

For centuries, Lisette d'Alençon has been a warrior against the dark. She fights alongside her brothers and comrades. But when the dreams start coming, she can't bear to confess them to the Immortal Guardians' command. She dreams of a dark-haired man with soft eyes and brutal wounds, a man her heart aches for - and a man she knows has been declared a traitor.

Zach is an exile, a loner. He won't defend himself against false accusations or grovel to those who should have faith in him. But he'll damn sure defend the woman who kept him sane against a plague of supervamps that seems to have appeared from nowhere. The Guardians will blame him, and that will make Lisette suspect, too. With life, death, and eternity on the line, who can they really trust?

loved it

I loved Zach and Lisette's story. It was fun to watch him slowly come out of his shell. I also liked that he was protective of Lisette, but wasn't domineering. He let her be her own butt-kicking self and was there for support if and when she wanted or needed it. I only have it at a 4 instead of a 5 because of some sadness in it that keeps me from completely relaxing as I'm reading it.

Zak ❣️

OMGOSH I love Zak ! I could listen to this over and over .. and I have .. my 2 favorite ones in this series is Zak and Roland , most of the others are pretty good but I judge a book by wanting to listen to it more then once .. there are also a couple I didn't purchase to me it's not worth a credit to listen to a 3 hour book .
Bottom line is even tho I love this series I don't like all the books in it .. but the ones I do are awesome to me.

Still loving my Immortal Guardians

If you haven't started this series just drop what you are doing and go download the first book...no seriously go now!

This has got to be one of the most highly rated series on Audible, and it is well deserved! This is a world full of vampires, protectors, hero's...and none of it is cheesy, and none of it is what you think it will be. These books are written for adults, and boy oh boy are they awesome!

This is the story of the french Immortal Lizette, and Zach the um...let's call him Seth's long lost cousin. I had to give this book 4 stars because it took a bit of head bashing for the truth to come out that I knew in chapter one and to be honest Mrs. Duvall doesn't usually play with us like that...but a 4 for an immortal guardian book is like a 7 for a normal run of the mill book.

The narrator was wonderful, as usual, and everyone has their own voice and the men sound like men...and some swoon worthy accents too! Yummy yummy!

If you are a fan of the series this book is required listening because we hear about all of our old friends...Rolland is still anti-social, although Zach could give him a run for his money on that one....Marcus is still over protective, David is still cool as ice and someone is having naughty dreams about Sheldon...oh and want to know what happens with Amy and her pregnancy......dum...dum....dummmmmmmmmmm Read on!

Good read! BUT...

Overall it was good but a little anticlimactic. I would recommend it if only to keep up with the series. I bet Adian is the next to find love.

Great Book! Great Narration!

Any additional comments?

Dianne did not disappoint. This book is another homerun for me. I can hardly wait for the next one. She just can't write them fast enough for me. Not only are the sex scenes hot and sexy but the action in the book is really really good. I love the different take on the vampires / immortals thing too. The main characters are always perfectly paired and the sub characters are almost as engaging as the main ones.

There was one scene in this book that really made me laugh out loud. When Lizette's brother teleported in at a very intimate moment and reacted like any brother would, I laughed out loud and hard. As with the entire book, the dialog was very real. I also loved it when they were all trying to figure out where on a woman, the cervix was. Very funny. It was a perfect way to remind you that most of these people have been around for a very very long time and times have changed a lot over the years

As to the narrator: Kirsten Potter is great. She is one of those narrators that I might try a book just because she's narrating it. I generally prefer male readers. To me it's easier for a man to use a falsetto for a woman's voice or even just raise the octave a step or two than it is for a woman to lower her voice without sounding so blessed fake. Kirsten is an exception to that. She does a fine job with her voices both male and female.

Best yet

Well okay. I think it is. Lisette, like her brothers were never in the forefront of my mind in the previous stories. They weren't ones I wanted specific books about, yes I have a list. However, exploring her in this books was good, she still isn't a favorite, but she is a strong heroine, sassy and will stand up for what she wants and I like that. Zac however... Zac is by far my favorite of all of them. He doesn't back down, he is willing to sacrifice everything for Lisette. He is willing to change for her. He is willing to do ANYTHING that she may need. And yet he stands as his own. He does it his way, and only his way. I've listened to the book twice now and will listen to it many more times. I have downloaded the ebook for it, I will probably by a hard copy of it.

If you only read one of this series I suggest this one, but you may be a little lost as to the world, so perhaps go back and start at the beginning they are all worth it.

This series is getting better

This is one example that some writers(most of them really) get better with time. Ms.Duvall is writing clearer, better and her books are coming out of mary-sue-ish kind prose that used to drive me crazy. I kept up with this series not because of the quality of books, but because the story was interesting. Now, I'm glad I did since she is obviously changing her stile slowly but steadily.

I feel like the characters are old friends. I love the story line, the characters and the series. I hope there's a seventh book in this story line.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Zach and all the immortal guardians, because all the story lines flow with the story line and easy to follow.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Amy having the baby, had me sending positive thoughts too.

Any additional comments?
