Amanda because her strength resonates with me
I can't wait for the next
I loved it and plan to continue to buy Sherrilyn' books
Read A Book
This was horrible. I could live with the silly plot if it wasn't for the horrible narration.
It wasn't interesting. I have read other stories by her and I thought I would like this, but it seemed to be lacking any excitement.
I wouldn't mind listening to Carrington read a regular romance novel if it didn't involve creating accents. Her accents are absolutely horrible, unbelievable, and ridiculous! Almost every female has an exaggerated
I like a good sex scene as much as the next romance reader, but it was the same one over and over. And it seemed as if was used as filler to make a short, uninteresting story drag out to fill a book.
I don't think I can listen to anymore Sherrilyn Kenyon books if they are this uninteresting and the narration is this horrible.
I enjoyed the story, but could not stand narrator's voices for characters, especially female voices. The main female character sounds so whiny. it is the same in the sacond books. Eventhough narrator could immitage accents, I would rather if narator did not use any accents at all because, for some reason, it took away from the story.
The basis of the story in interesting. I found it to be a titillating romance story wrapped in emotional pschology of relationships, wrapped in fantasy lore.. Not what I was looking for but I thought I would give it a try.
I own the whole paper back series. I just had to have the audio series so I can listen to it while I am at work. It is worth the money! If you are a person who loves "vampires" and mystery...this is your type of series. Please note that there is some sexual content in these series. I personally wouldn't allow a young teen (12-15) to read this series because of the sexual content. We all know that kids will see/read it somewhere else though. My advice to the parents is check out the book first before letting a younger teen read it--just to make sure you approve of the material. I have gotten several of my co-workers addicted to the series! Don't have to read them in order, but it makes more sense if you do.
I have listened to or read most of this series, and resisted this book because of all the negative reviews. I started the series with book 4, Zarek???s story. I must say I don???t really understand all the negative reviews at all. If you are new to the series this is a good start, as it gives a good background on the Dark Hunters, Appolites, and Daimons. This is a fantasy romance and has some steamy love scenes, I wouldn???t call them soft-core porn as some other???s have suggested, but they are descriptive, so if you are not into that in your romance books, maybe this series is not for you. I totally got the instant connection between Kyrian and Amanda they are soul mate. I???ve read enough romance novels to know, when soul mates meet the connection is instant and unexplained, I don???t need some grand gesture to accept it. I liked the narrator, although my favorite narrators of the series are Fred Berman and Holter Graham, I didn???t mind this narrator at all. This is not my favorite of the series, but I did enjoy this offering and I wish I had not let negative reviews deter me for so long.
I am half-way through this book and I cannot BELIEVE how absurd it is, just sex no substance or storyline whatsoever. Why do some female writers believe all men are walking hard-ons?? Seriously, I read LOTS of fantasy and sci-fi, and this is just cheesy porn, AWFUL. "Made sweet love to her with his hand"?? REALLY!? Is this written for hormonal tweens? I have never rolled my eyes this much. And the narration...just awful. If your going to write porn at least get someone with a somewhat sexy voice! I'd rather listen to my mother read this to me. PASS
Not a bad book. Not very thought provoking, but I would say it was worth the credit. Male protagonist was definetely more enjoyable than the female character as she could be a bit annoying and (once again...yawn)her own worst enemy. Why is it that a strong woman must always be portrayed as stupid? She must always barrel a pathway into danger (which of course she never saw coming even though she is sooo intelligent) only to be rescued by the sexually enticing male lead who saves her at the last moment and they both awaken to realize that they were always meant for each other. Sound familiar? Well, there's the book.
I enjoyed the book but found I couldn't stand the way the narrator did Amanda's voice. And Kyrian's accent was horrible. I recommend listening to all the books read by Holter Graham and Fred Berman and get the paperbacks for all the rest.
This book, was quite trite. Although I can put up with that, the narrator has definitely made me quit listening to this series. A southern accent doesn't have to sound breathless constantly. It could have been good . . .
