Critic reviews

"New Moon will more than feed the bloodthirsty hankerings of fans of the first volume and leave them breathless for the third." (School Library Journal)

"Bella's dismay at being ordinary (after all, she's only human) will strike a chord even among girls who have no desire to be immortal, and like the vampires who watch Bella bleed with 'fevered eyes', teens will relish this new adventure and hunger for more." (Booklist)

Good Stuff for Twilight Fans

I enjoyed the book very much and likewise the audio version. In particular, I loved the narrator's voice. She became Bella to me. She does a great job of changing tone and tenor for different characters. The book moves along well, the characters are true to their original story. I really liked it, but it is not a stand-alone. Read book one first before trying this one.

Love the story, hate the performance

Would you listen to New Moon again? Why?

Yes, because I love this book. It would be great if someone else read it. I do not care for the performer

Who was your favorite character and why?

I like Alice - she's the sister Bella never had. I love all Emmett - he is the perfect brother. I love Edward - he is very complex. I love when Bellas goes to save him and they save each other.

Would you be willing to try another one of Ilyana Kadushin’s performances?

No

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I cried when Edward left. It was well done in the book. If you have ever had your heart broken - you can relate.

Excellent

Hands down this is one of the best audio books I have listened to. Llyana Kadushin is superb, her ability to use her voice to distinguish each individual character is phenomenal. You will not be disappointed, this is an excellent, well written story. I cannot tell you how many times I listened to this audio book.

Narration distracting

I enjoyed the book, but the narrator did not pronounce Ts at the end of words and said Jacop, instead of Jacob; and I found myself listening for those mispronunciations, which was quite distracting. Silly, I know, but still distracting.

Terrible narration

Good book but TERRIBLE narration. She drove me nuts the whole time. Needed more expression and life in her reading.

Amazing story-Annoying narrator

The story is epic, but the narrator continually dropped consonants at the end of words - beyond irritating - and can’t do a believable male voice to save her life. All of the males sounded like little girls.

IMO The narrator ruins it.

The stories are great, far better than the movies (aren’t they all though? lol) but for me the narrator just makes the characters sound a bit petulant. She doesn’t relay the talking in a way that I feel a normal person would speak. Her inflections throughout seem odd to me. Maybe she feels this is more of a children’s story but the way she inflects the conversations and the cadence with which she reads them seems childish.

That’s just my opinion though, plenty of people seem to like her so maybe I’m just weird. I might just get the physical books so I don’t have to listen to her making everyone except Edward seem like they’re 10 years old.
