Publisher's summary

The New York Times best-selling author of Silver Thaw returns to Mystic Creek for a new novel about a love that inspires the courage to start over - and the strength to reclaim a dream.

When Taffeta Brown was viciously betrayed by her wealthy husband, she lost everything - including custody of their daughter, Sarah. Now that Taffy has moved to Mystic Creek, Oregon, to start over, she unexpectedly meets the one man who might help her get Sarah back.

Barney Sterling, a local lawman, finds himself drawn to the lovely, guarded Taffy, but he's stunned by her proposition - that they marry immediately to improve her chances of regaining custody of her daughter. Barney takes marriage too seriously to commit himself to a woman he hardly knows. Yet soon his sympathies fall with the desperate Taffy, and pretending to be in love becomes the easiest part of the plan. But they have no idea what they're up against or what they're willing to risk to make a miracle come true in Mystic Creek.

Great story

I just love her stories. Pretty clean too. I would like less details on the climbing up on the bodies in bed, just knowing that they are enjoying themselves is enough. I know people who would love these stories but they used to have sex issues so they can’t enjoy these wonderful stories. And I mean they are wonderful!!

Contrived~ but still a good listen~ 3 STARS~

PLOT: Taffeta Brown moves to Mystic Creek and captures the attention of local lawman Barney Sterling~

Local Lawman Barney is "intrigued" by Taffeta Brown the owner of the local herb store. Taffeta has secrets of her own~ is on probation for child abuse. She propositions Barney for a sham marriage to get her daughter back~ Barney digs a little deeper and finds Taffeta clearly was railroaded in court. a trip to Las Vegas has the marriage take off and soon becomes real in every way. Taffeta's daughter Sarah age 5 is the child from hell and wants to be a stripper like her baby sitter. The road to become friends with Sarah is a long one. This is a good story but contrived is the ONLY word that comes to mind. The book drags on far too long. I give it 3 Stars~ The reader is good but the story is lacking. the most interesting person in this book is the out of control 5 year old.

Childish & Immature Plot

I've read fan fiction written by teenagers that had more maturity of plot. There was nothing that wasn't ridiculous and childish about the plot. The fake wedding to get the child back, who is supposedly in danger, but we have time to play games. The child talking like a 1930's gangster because she was hanging out with strippers. All of it. I can't find one redeeming thing about this book. Nothing.

Don't waste your money.

Trashy

If The first chapter is a signal to the rest of the book this not the moral book I wanted.

A beautiful story of love and restoration

Great character development and a wonderful story unfolding about hope and love.

I love this family and the traits revealed in the sons.

I am appalled… and a bit skeptical of a system that could be so totally broken when a woman and child need protection and credibility !

GOOD SERIES SO FAR!

This is a first series that I've listened to by Catherine Anderson. I thoroughly enjoyed the first book "Silver Thaw" which is what led me to Book 2. This one is good but with that being said, there were minor parts that were a little on the ridiculous side. I still gave it a 5 star rating based on the content of the story. I'm going to go straight into Book 3 with the hope that it branches off in a different direction than the first two books since they are very similar in many ways. I don't want to list the duplications here because it will be considered a spoiler and reveal too much of the stories.

Kate Turnbull did a good job on narration with the exception of a child's voice. That could be improved IMO.

Save your credt

Completely unrealistic ....who lets a 5 year old run their life and allow child abuse. First story was good in this series, however I won't read anymore

Sweet easy listen

Very much in vein with the rest of the series. Woman in distress, great guy helps her to save the day, etc etc etc and voila happily ever after. Yet, don't let me glib review stop you for it is a really sweet story that was quite an enjoyable listen. You can listen to this as a stand alone and not miss out, though the series is worth it.
