My favorite

I disagree with the bad reviews. I think the hero showed a lot of care and love towards the heroine from the beginning. You just have to look at the subtle signs from the first scene and on in this book. He was a strong hero and had lost soo much, so I totally understood him and his pain. I loved our heroine too, she wasn't overly strong or overly weak. So had a good balance. I don't like the women to be to strong and out do the males, so this was a good balance I thought. I did want to here about Gannon more and see if he will find a mate.

It was a great end to the series.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Kaelin and Kiely were of course my favorite characters. We already know and love them from the first two books so it was easy to hope for their happily ever after.

Have you listened to any of Kirsten Potter’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I listened to to all three books and this one was every bit as good as the others.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I loved the last battle scene of the book.

Another good novel in this series

Maya Banks has grown as a quality author in this series. There is more substance in the plots. In this book the heroine is a strong woman, as in the others, but she also has learned to wield a sword to have an even stronger sense of ability to protect herself. This creates a dilemma for the hero. Does he accept a woman who can fight or try to fashion her into the image of the one who needs his protection?
It is worked out well in the story. There is of course romance, some suspense, a touch of humor, and action. It keeps your interest making you want to continue listening. I recommend this book to all who enjoy Highland romance.
Overall rating 4.5, it shows as 5 because you can't give 1/2 stars.

Marrying a Warrior Princess

Frustratedly I realized I was listening to the 3rd book in a trilogy. However, enough backstory is provided, I did not feel I was missing too much. That said, the story was captured my interest and picked up speed as it progressed. The narration was ok. Ms. Potter offered some Scottish brogue when characters spoke, but the rest was North American English. For some reason, that doesn't whisk me away to Scotland. I found that disappointing. Others may not have an issue with it all. It is just a personal preference.

Would you consider the audio edition of Never Love a Highlander to be better than the print version?

Didn't read the print version. However, I get drawn into the story much more and it is more real to me when I listen rather than read (as long as the narrator is good). This narrator was very good, both male and female voices.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Never Love a Highlander?

I love this series. I never thought I would enjoy the "ancient" setting but it really works and seems like Maya Banks has done her research.

Which scene was your favorite?

Ms. Banks always seems to get the "facts" straight; she seems to do a lot of research about times, places, historical events, etc. and I admire her for that.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Nothing. I usually prefer good male narrators, however, Kirsten Potter does a good job.

Any additional comments?

Want more Maya Banks, having a hard time waiting for more books to come out. Please, Ms. Banks, continue to get excellent narrators; as you know a bad narrator can ruin a story.

I loved this book. The entire McCabe series was outstanding. They were great characters with good stories. I laughed, I cried and I wanted more when it was done. Not many books seem to make me feel that way these days.

What could have been better was the narrator. She wasn't awful, but she just couldn't quite take me there. I found that she wasn't always consistent with the character voices. It was confusing at times.

That being said, I would still recommend the audiobooks to highland romance lovers.

Great ending to the series!

I enjoyed this series despite the men sometimes angering me. Their treatment of the women weren't always great in the beginning. No abuse or anything like that, just treated them as inferior. Caelen being the worst of them. Once the men started to fall for the women, they obviously changed that way about them. For me, the ending's of all three are what really turn my opinion of the books. When they finally fall, they fall hard. I listened to these on audible escape and the narrator did a really good job. I highly recommend getting the audiobooks.

Great series!

I love this series and only hope we can re-visit the McCabe clan. Please listen to all of them in sequence you will not be disappointed at all. Perfection.
