Publisher's summary

Dean Robillard is the Chicago Stars' hotshot quarterback. Not only does he have lightening reflexes on the field, he is also utterly gorgeous. First introduced in the critically acclaimed Match Me If You Can, Dean is trying to recover (both mentally and physically) from a shoulder injury by taking a road trip. Along the way, he meets Blue, a beautiful woman down on her luck, and as they spend more time together their attraction grows. Blue has had a string of bad relationships and doesn't want to trust Dean right away. But they wind up living together, along with Dean's troubled half-sister, and learn that families and luck work in mysterious ways.

This is a hilarious new novel by New York Times best-selling author Susan Elizabeth Phillips.

Critic reviews

  • Audie Award Winner, Romance, 2008

"Generously seasoned with plenty of tart humor and snappy dialogue, and graced with a delightfully amusing pair of protagonists trying desperately not to fall in love, Natural Born Charmer is simply irresistible." (Booklist)

Perfection from SEP

I just love this book. No one does it better. I go back to this too many times.

Another CHARMER from SEP!

Although I read one or two of the Chicago Stars series I have really enjoyed the rest of the series on Audible and am glad I have them to go back to listen to when I want a fun, easy listen. The characters are flawed and have issues and that makes them more realistic. As in all of SEP books, there is fun and snappy dialog and good sexual chemistry. The sex scenes are steamy and fun without being unnecessarily graphic like a lot of authors are doing today. As I have noted with some other SEP books, there is a primary couple, but also a love story for a secondary couple. I think April Fields does a GREAT job narrating and changing voices. She even does a fine job singing a little in this one!

Just try keeping a straight face!

Anna Fields is wonderful and she sings too! I especially loved the interaction between Mrs. Garrison and Blue - priceless! I absolutely recommend this book, anything by Suzan Elizabeth Phillips will leave you in stitches!

Another Great Romance

It might be just another romance - but it's a really great one! Absolutely delightful for the past two dayx and although it is 2:30 on Monday morning and I need to be in a meeting at 8:30 Monday - I'll probably finish the next 43 minutes no matter how bad tomorrow might feel (AND I've got a 12 hour day ahead of me tomorrow). This is my second audible from this author and I really love them. She was recommended from one of my very favorite authors (Diana Gabaldon) and I'm definetly a fan!

Remarkably Entertaining !

Where does Natural Born Charmer rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Performance was top-notch. Great inflection and voices. Not your Tale of Two Cities however well written dialogue. Character development well done. I could imagine each one as is standing next to me. Kept me wanting to get in my car to drive to work - typically distasteful.

What does Anna Fields bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

yes

One of SEP's most intricate stories

What made the experience of listening to Natural Born Charmer the most enjoyable?

The inclusion of Dean's family members' issues and personalities into the story was as smooth as a gelato. But it all worked for me because it took away the unbelievability of how Blue ended up with staying with Dean. Fun and witty dialogues come with any SEP book.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Dean is a strong, gorgeous and level headed man but the situations he gets involved in test his self control and bring down his emotional barriers he built long time ago to survive. Blue is a witness to it all as the story unfolds and pushes her own insecurities down the drain and trusts Dean with her whole self. Its a beautifully built love story.

I'm in love!

I totally fell in love with the characters (all of them), the story (especially all the banter) and the narration. Its been a few days since I've read this book and I still miss the characters. Its definitely a fun and light read but its more than a love story it also has some family drama that is intertwined with the romance, which makes it a great read. This is only my third SEP book but I look forward to reading some her older books as well as more recent ones!

LOVE IT!!

If you are a Susan Elizabeth Phillips fan, you can't go wrong. A cute, fun, story of fame, fortune, family and of course the underlying sizzling love story. This might be one of the deepest of her books, but still expect the greatness you expect from SEP. This is one of my favorites of SEP and I really like them all. Narration by Anna Fields - it can't be beat!
